Well its been awhile between updates but shes done, RoG's F-117 Nighthawk in 1/144.

(sorry about the flash glare in the first shot)

She has a reasonable amount of detail for the size, pity its all trapped behind the tiny canopy and the wheel/weapons bays underneath.

Jbrady: Looking good!

Trey: Dang, I haven't seen so much mottling since I had chicken pox... Big Smile Wow, she's shaping up to be another winner.

KW: Great job on the 117! 144th scale would have to be tiny. I can barely see well enough to work on a 1/72nd scale kit, kudos to you sir!

This is where I am currently on my Fiat CR 42 CN.  My Italian night fighter.  I still have a ways to go but at least I'm current.  I'll be taking my time with this one.  I had started it last year before I worked on the Widow.

Wow, I skip a couple of days and you guys go to town on me.

Doogs, jbrady, The Mossie and Beau both look very menacing in their all black camo.  Think I'm going to have to add one of those to the to do list.

Nathan, great job on the Ju 88.  I'm glad I build in 1/72 so that I don't have to do the Dragon kit.  There is the Revell kit in 1/32 you could consider though.  Propeller

Trey, the Ar 234 is coming along nicely.  In about a week I'll be getting back to my 234 that has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years.

NFN, Judging by your Widow I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

Did I miss anyone?

Yep, sorry Andrew,  Nice build, any chance we could get a photo with a scale reference in it?  Must be tiny.

HI everyone,

Been a while since I've been in.

This group build interests me very much, as I recently started Revell's 1/48 Catalina PBY.

This plane was very effective as a Black Cat in SW Pacific WW2. The Black Cat's were charged with hunting japanese shipping as well as rescue missions.

I hope this classifies for the 2011 Nightfighter Group Build????????? If so, I'm in Geeked

Thanks,

Ken

PS Pictures are coming tomorrow

Here is the Nose Art I plan to use

Nathan - that 88 is fantastic! The mottling is great, but I think it's the detail work that really stands out!

jbrady - the beau is looking great! I'm a bit jealous that you've got a metal beastie to play with and beat up. Not many weathering opportunities with the Mossie, especially since the smooth black paint didn't last very long before they shifted to green/gray.

Trey - the mottling on that thing still blows me away! Glad to see her on her feet!

Andrew - 1/144? Kudos on the tiny build!

greentracker - a PBY night hunter!?!? Call me interested!

I'm happy to report that the Mossie got its markings last night and they came out mostly great! The only thing resembling a problem is one of the roundels on the wing, which has some spotting on it, but that should tame down with some light weathering.

Also, if you plan on building a Mossie in the future, buy the Barracudacals Mossie stencils. The quality is nothing short of amazing...they practically suck themselves onto the surface. They're tough enough to move around and position, even over raised detail, but thin enough that they melt right down. The big no-step markings on the leading edges of the wings to either side of the canopy were particularly impressive. No silvering, no trapped bubbles.

Planning to seal them up when I get home today. Hopefully pics tonight!

Let me say this first... I love my animals but. The Beau is the latest victim of the aussie and the kitten chase game. Un powered flight from workbench to hardwood. I was sitting right here when it happened. I just put the model down to adjust my pinvise. It is amazing how much space a three pound kitten can clear at full speed. I won't know how much of a setback until the glue joint between the upper and lower wing sets up. Updates later.

JBrady...what can I say it sucks. Between you and Doogs, I am beginning to think there is a "dark" pall over this group build. Tongue Tied Makes me nervous as I proceed on with my Gekkou.

say it ain't so!  That is a real shame jbrady. At least it sounds like it is able to be repaired!

Yikes, sorry to hear that jbrady but I have cats and know what a pain in the Censored they can be.  Had that happen once and that's why I now have a door on my modeling space that stays shut.

That would be ideal. Can't happen though, without a major remodel. It's an older house and I had to take the doors off so I can get my wheelchair in and out of various rooms. Besides, if a cat wants to get to a space there is no power on earth that will stop them, they will find a way. Solution for me is to make sure models in progress are off the workbench unless I'm working on them. Good news is that the only damage seems to be the upper to lower wing join. Because the model is molded in black I think some gap filling glue, the last two fading coats, and some paint chipping should hide the damage.

oh man, that sucks jbrady!

On the bright side, at least with cats it's just the knock off the bench, not 80 pounds of yellow lab coming down on top of a kit...

Mossie mishaps, battered Beaufighters, pulverized P-38s.....oh, the humanity!!!

On the more positive side, I lurk here almost daily and there's definitely great stuff happening. Congrats to all! Toast  I'm just trying to clear bench space and some time to jump in with my Uhu.

Decaled up...

Had a bit of silvering on the ID markings...nothing too bad though and should be easily rectified and/or concealed.

Didn't we get a visit from a Field Marshal recently?

That Mossie looks great. Not my favorite airplane but you did a great job.

Yes we did and it was a cat that damaged the Beau was it not? And in a surprising stroke of genius it must have been a nonaggression pact with their arch enemy the dog to destroy that P-38. Hmmmm I smell something fishy.

Gregbear,

Can you change my build to the Monogram 1/72 F-82?  Haven't procured the AC-130A yet and would like to reduce the stash a little.

I'm not much for WIP pics, mainly because my MacBook doesn't have a card reader.  But Hauptman Schnaufer's mount is nearly done.  Spent all afternoon placing the canopy masks.

Satch: It's canopies like that that justify the cost of pre-cut masks. Looking good.

Trey: It's fixable. The black plastic worked to my advanatage. Sanding the repaired seam left the plastic almost the same color as the rest of the build.

One thing I didn't notice was the damage to one of the roundels on the fuselage. I'll figure something out.
