Well, the "Old Dog" B-52I now has a new nose, and a new tail. Any suggestions on where to host pics so I can link them to this forum? It won't let me just post them as part of the message.

Planning to finish it out with a diorama depicting the "Old Dog" in its hanger at the "Dreamworks" facility. Complete with dobermans outside the building. Big Smile

Great work guys, can't wait to see the 'Old Dog' complete. Interesting concept with the nose switcheroo. Also will be great to see the Predator as well.

Cheers

The F-4 nose does look a little odd, but there's a lot of odd things about the India model. I did one earlier in 1/320 scale that does have a elongated SST style nose, but my kitbashing box had a scrapped Phantom II and its nose looked close to what I want. I need to find my putty and probably do some work, but I kind of like it. Looks somewhat like a B-1B nose. What I'm shooting for for it to look like it was pieced together with parts that don't quite match up, so it will look like what it truly is-a flying stealth technology/weapons testbed that was never meant to be a production aircraft. Kind of the last hurrah for the faithful old Stratofortress...the "Megafortress." Big Smile

Nice looking 117, Mikey! I especially like the giant Skunkworks logo underneath! Surprise Trés Enormous!

Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing the finished pics. BTW have you seen the Testors kit in 1/32? It looks like it might be a recent kit.

Cheers

Hi. Very nice builds going on here! I finished the Testors F-117 a while back. Not as happy with it. The major problem I had was the canopy. Unlike some of the other kits out there testors doesn't have very much raised detail to mask off. I ended up hand painting the canopy and of course the colors didn't match up!!Bang Head Here are some pics.

Lucky for me I obtained an Italeri kit with updated markings. I will attempt to redo the plane. Might have to use a liquid mask to get the clean lines!

Ok, time to breath some life back into this limp GB! Big Smile

The F-117A Nighthawk. This thing is huge, it dwarves the Phantom II! Is this the largest single person plane produced?

I got the Eduard interior coloured PE, the Aires cockpit set and Eduard white metal landing gear. I don't think I'll build the Hummer that came in the box.

Cheers

I'm glad I didn't hack away everything that Aires said to on the resin tub instructions!

I would have lost the whole top of the area behind the seat where the canopy latches on.

I was careful to examine the fit before I cut away any styrene. As it happens there is a slight gap but it is easily repairable.

Have I mentioned how much I hate cutting resin cockpits away from their casting blocks! Angry

Not a lot of parts in this kit but a lot of plastic!

As usual the Tamiya quality is great to work with. No flashing, everything fits. All the parts have been cut off the sprues, just need painting putting together. It's a relatively simple kit but will look great with the right amount of detailing.

Fuselage prepped and ready to go;

I wish more kits joined top to bottom instead of left to right. The F-16 kits do it, right?! It wouldn't be hard to do with a lot of planes, just hide the join along panel lines. It would eliminate the need for seems down the middle of the fuselage.

various gray primed parts...first the wheel/bomb bays and cockpit;

wheels, bombs etc.;

IP with coloured PE. Next some picking out of details with a painted pin head and silver dry brushing;

That's all for now.

Cheers

Got some more work done on the Nighthawk.

Wheel bays and bomb bay painted and fitted;

Ordinance painted and decalled before panel wash;

Cockpit before light oil wash;

Got some more detailing done. Some weathering on the ordinance;

Bit blurry but the oil picked out the details on the wheel and bomb bays;

Cockpit came up well!

I've been testing the Flory pro modeller wash to see what type of highlights I can get on a semi-gloss black finish. As the wash is dark gray and not black I figure it should make a subtle impact to the panel lines.

The panel wash is on the bomb bay door on the right. Apart from the gloss and naturally occurring highlights I think you can see a difference. As the whole plane is covered in panels I think this should break up the monotonous surface and create a lot of depth on the model.

I'll see how it goes over a larger surface area.

Cheers

Even though this kit came molded in black styrene, it does not truly begin to look awesome until the semi-gloss black coat goes on over the primer.
