My A-20G Havoc is all done!  I weathered her up pretty badly, well I think anyways. The first one I actually weathered this bad.

I've got the PE-2 assembled and ready for painting. But the only time I can airbrush is on the weekend.

I had some major & minor fit issues, one of the elevators seems to be angled a little higher than the other. 

Sorry for low quality pics, I'm using my iPod touch's camera, but I will use my real camera for the finished pics.

Can't wait to see more, Baron!  I've got a 48 scale of a Pe-2, that I need to do.  But I said to myself once the A-20 was done, that I will not, repeat will not start a new one, until the old, half built stuff has been finished.  So far so good!

Thanks, in 3-4 more days the plane will be painted, so in the meantime that will give me enough time to mask the model and paint all the landog gear, as well as some of the more fiddle bits.

Bish she came out great ,give yourself a big atta-boy for overcoming the hurdles thrown at ya !

I've finally resolved all my medical issues - I hope - and started an airplane for this build ...

I'm still going to do the PSA  Lockheed Electra, but have started off with a DC-6B ... the scale is 1/144 and the kit maker is Minicraft ... Man, those parts are so very small - whew !! ...

Just to show that I don't always build 'shiiny' aircraft, here are 2 snaps of an F7 Tigercat I just finished up ...

The silver craft is a model of only 1 of 2 Tigercats left in the NMF ... it was a test a/c, used by both Grumman and the Navy to test the concept of the twin-engined fighter ...

The second photo is of the F7F-3K, the prototype Tigercat target drone, which crashed on its last demo flight by the Navy ...

Well the weekend finally came, so now the PE-2 is all painted up! Just a few little touch ups with the brush and it'll be done. The green was humbrol acrylic 30 and the bottom was humbrol acrylic  65. I pre-shaded for the first time with humbrol acrylic 33. And it turned out very good! Though you can only see it on the bottom… 

Anyone know how to do a wash for raised panel lines??

RRB: you cant do a wash for raised panel lines. The whole purpose of a wash is for it to settle into recessed details. For raised lines, I make sure to preshade all of them, color the top coat, then lightly sand off the top color to let a bit of black show through.

You could try dry brushing in the direction of air flow to highlight your raised panel lines...just make sure the brush is REALLY dry!

Just to let you know that I'm still in, or back in, at least... I had too many irons in the fire earlier, but things are falling into place now, and I think that the Monogram 1/48th  "Enola Gay" will be completed "on time, on target"...

Well the PE-2  is finished, this turned out too be one of my best, but airfix failed me once agian with thier dodgy clear parts.

I won't have the diorama anywhere near complete, mind you, just the aircraft.

Well.. It'll be 99% done, at least... I say that because, since it's wired for "electical stuff " (Bomb bay lights and panel/navigation lights w/fiber optic strands)...

 The wires will show until it's mounted to the base, where they get run down a bomb-lift to the "pit" where the "Little Boy" bomb was raised into the bay (in order to hide them as much as possible.)...

The bombs were too big to load conventionally, so "Enola Gay" (and Bock's Car", as well as all the other "Silverplate" aircraft that dropped bombs in cases the same size as "Fat Man", but were filled with conventional explosive, so the Japanese would get used to some B-29s dropping one big bomb. Those bombs were called "Pumpkins") could be towed into place over it and the bombs raised into the aircraft's forward bay.

Some thought the name came form it's color, which was purported to be a "pumpkin" color, but the bombs were actually painted the same color as the "Fat Man"..

Some interesting pics there hans. I just got a 72nd resin set of proposed German A-Bomabs and one of those is very similar to the US bombs.

Scorpiomikey - Got the front page updated.  Built one of those a couple of years ago for a club build, nice little kit.  Can't wait to see your work.

Dad built it years ago with the same intention (RNZAF VVIP Bird, carried Queen Elizabeth in 53) but every time he stood it on the landing gear the fuselage would split. I may have to reinforce some of the seams. But i wont be putting anywhere near as much detail as dad put in. Ill be leaving doors closed and windows curtained over.  Ill leave the rear door open and scratch the galley though.

Heres the real aircraft as she is in the wigram airforce museum.

I beleive she only has around 17000 hours on her.

Had to cover a couple of nasty seams inside the nacelles with some sheet styrene...

The gear is nicely detailed...and together...

Len, that's looking great!  I built a Tamiya Mossie over a year ago, and it went together like a charm.  Got another one in the stash that will be built, eventually.
