Nice looking kit. I'm not sure about the cockpit. I have the Xtrakit PR 9 but i can't remember what colour that give for the inside.

There's still no painting done on my Chinook as yet . In the mean time I started looking at the High Planes EE Canberra B.62 kit ,  'FUEZRA AERA ARGENTINA'

High Planes provide a nice set of resin cockpit goodies

Unfortunatly one of my front wheels is missing

I have a spare Airfix B-57kit , I could probably use both front wheels from that kit .

A quick check on how things will look , I dry fitted the cockpit pieces in place

High Planes instructions suggest painting the entire cockpit flat black , is this correct for EE Canberra's ?

I'll tidy up the resin cockpit pieces with some sandpaper and get ready to paint the parts and I'll clean up the fuselage halves and wing pieces and glue the wings together

Its a shame we didn't get a vulcan built, and i don't think we will now. There are a few MIA's from the GB, but such is the nature of GB's.

ESCI 1/48 Mirage IIIE that I modified into a III EA. Italeri re popped this kit recently. I really do wish that they would repop the Mirage V so I could do a Nesher/Dagger... those Argie pilots had some great big brass... attributes Wink

You put your finger on the theater outlook from both sides.

As we know, when Britain was able to bring down transport and carriers, the theater radius was greatly diminished for the Harriers.

Argentina on the other hand had to withdraw their carrier in the face of the submarine threat and at that point in my opinion they lost the war.

I'm spending effort researching the attack on Sheffield. At least four aircraft involved.

But I think the Black Buck attacks really take precedence as brave. Sixteen Victors each for the two bombers on each mission.

(BTW the Victor IMO is the true hero in many ways, and Matchbox made a great one.

Where did the Vulcan's go in this GB?

Congrats on the Mirage Stik. It looks really good to me, you should be proud of it. The como is spot on, as is the weathering.

Cheers

Great work on the Mirage IIIE Stik .

The camouflage finish looks perfect .

Bish , the Cyberhobby HC-4 Seaking kit is a new release , it's a little pricey but as far as I;m aware it's the only 1/72 HC-4 kit that's around . They were used in the 1st Gulf War as well .

I was just going to chime in with that info - saw an ad for that kit in.... "a British modeling magazine that shall not be named here"! Wink

After many months of procrastinating, and many other months of work, I am calling my Mirage IIIEA finished. Overall not a bad kit. Its funny how after the fact we can see better ways to have done things.

Nice work on the Sea Harrier Tony , I'm sure with a light dusting with of semi gloss clear your Harrier will look a lot more pleasing to you . Either way excellent work all round .

Sorry there hasn't been much progress on my builds of late , However this kit just arrived at the door

I've wanted a Seaking with those outrigger style landing gear struts for all most two decades  and now I finally have one . The kit is marked as a Falklands War bird and includes a open crew entry door with steps as well as folding main rotors ....."AWESOME"

The tail pylon is molded seperatly but there are no provisions to be able to place it the folded position . Although it probably wouldn't be that difficult to do .

Hopfully later today or tomorrow , I'll finally get to airbrushing my Argentine Chinook

John .

Firstly, thanks for the advice and many thanks Stik for posting all the pics. I've looked at stacks of photos I've got in a few books, and to be honest, some look very glossy, and are probably from the trip south or early in the conflict. It was my original intention to display the model in this state. However, given that I'm not happy with the look of it, and you guys mount a convincing argument, I think I'll give it a light semi-gloss coat, to edge it towards the glossier side of semi-gloss, if that makes sense.

Since I'll have to hit my next model (French F4U-7) with semi-gloss too. I'll hold this back a week or so and do them both on the same day.

Cheers

Hi Bish,

I would be far more pleased with it if it did have a coat of flat varnish on it, I think it would be more pleasing to the eye. As I understand it, these things were painted gloss extra dark sea grey, so that's what it's got.

Cheers

Tony

Just for consideration, with the constant operations of the small Sea Harrier force and the sea and weather condtions it would have toned down a little. In scale a semi gloss or satin finish looks better to my eye.

Even before they were camo'd down the finish had a more toned down sheen than high gloss

and after...

some were also in a lighter gray as seen here on the Atlantic Conveyor...

and in combat

Right, didn't know that. How about a semi gloss finish, tone down the shine a bit.

I think your being a bit hard on yourself Tony. The only thing i would pick up is that it does look a bit shiny, though that may be your lights. What did you use as a Flat varnish.

The Sea Harrier is finished. I can't say that I'm super proud of it, however at least it's done. For mine, the measure is less than I wanted it to be, but I still haven't mastered spraying Future.

I like it Mochilote.

I've progressed my Sea Harrier a little, getting the decals on yesterday. I wanted to depict an Extra Dark Sea Grey Sea Harrier with the overpainted 'Falklands' roundels, with non standard dimensions to the red and blue components. The Italeri kit decals have standard dimensions, but I had decals for a number of various aircraft on a couple of old Modeldecal sheets. I trimmed the roundels as closely as I, but when plaaced on the model, it was evident that a) they were very hick, and b) they had been printed on white backing, and a sliver of the white showed up like dogs proverbials on the dark grey surface. The 2nd sheet proved similar. After searching the decal and then kit stash, I finally came up with a viable alternative, the Hasegawa FRS 1. In the end, all of these decals came from that kit, and are good quality. Its perfectly fine, because I can use the Italeri decals for one of the other schemes on the Hasegawa one, when I eventually do it. Needs an overcoat of Future now. THese things were quite glossy, I believe.

Cheers

Thanks to all of you guys. Yes Jere, I'm back; the problem was that, as I couldn't sculpt the gun I put this bust aside and took some others, but now I'm determined to finish it; and this is the idea:

I hope you like it (I do).

Thanks stikpusher I appreciate you kind words. Actually I was lucky to find this kit in my stash, which is mostly 72 scale. I haven't got the room to display the 'BIG' stuff.

Very nice Dagger Frank. I do wish that there was a mainstream kit of those in 1/48 out now.

Hi Guys,

Quick intro: Although I’ve been modeling for many years this is the first time I’ve posted one of my models.

Attached are a few photos of my interpretation of the IAI Dagger, C-430 flown by Capt. Raul Diaz the day he was shot down.

It is an older PM Models 1/72 kit built straight from the box with some additional cockpit detail. I made the decals and printed them on my Brother Ink Jet printer. The quality surprised me. I did some paint chipping – photos I’ve found of the Dagger show paint chips all over the airframe – I used Windsor-Newton Masking Fluid for the first time – applied with a tooth pick. (I think it works great.)

I tried to imagine what the actual green id. panels would look like considering that the plane was said to be covered with a layer on ice, which was cleaned off using newspaper just before painting.

I’m planning to build the Sea Harrier flown by L/Cdr Andy Auld – hopefully before the end of the year.

Thanks for the opportunity to share,

Frank

Thanks guys Wink Another full day or two's work and I will be finito on this build.

Vance, The mix and match aspect is what drew me to that on the drop tanks. In several photos I have the "desert" camo long range tanks were mounted, so it must not have been too uncommon.Hmm

Well I am back to work and off vacation as of today, so my build time is now back to normal...Tongue Tied

Great work here guys!

The Harrier and the Mirage both looks great.

The bust is also impresive! I though that you had left the GB Mochilote, I am very glaad to see that you havenĀ“t.

John I hope that your folks will be OK soon. Also I am looking forward to see more helos.

Cheers,

Jere
