Scorpiomikey

Very very nice build. Can you post a photo of it next to another smaller scale? (eg a 72nd spit if you have one) Just to show the difference in size.

Ok, just to show the difference in scale, here is the Sea Harrier 1/24 next to an F-16 in 1/48

Quite a size difference, huh!!?? Whistling

Cheers

On the bench: A-4F 1/32 Hasegawa

Just deployed: F6F-5N Hellcat Nightfighter 1/48 Eduard

Up next: A6-E Intruder 1/48 Revell

As promised, I've made a start on my Sea Harrier, this being the Testor issue of the Fujimi kit. Here's the boxtop:

The engineering is poor, the fit attrocious, the only thing in its favour is discrete panel lines. The Airfix kit was probably far better engineered, but you could shout into those lines and get an echo...

So far have assembled the bit behind the cockpit, the Aden guns and droptanks, and jointwork will be an ongoing process.

Hoping to spray the cockpit interior, what little there is of it, today. It'll be finished as XV 492 off the Hermes.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Well, there you go.

After a year of one of the MOST successful GB's here, I need to jump back in.

History fascinates me.

In a conversation with the Argentine half of this GB and isn't that the way it needs to be to be interesting; the next project.

Neptune 726-7283 BU

USN No. 150280

One of two Neptunes left in 1982 in the ANA. 2-P-112 flew FAC for the Super Etendard strike that resulted in the sinking of Sheffield.

The example at Bahia Blanca is in a blue/ green scheme. I always totally discount these kind of paint jobs on what we call in the US "Gate Guardians" as they send out sailors with cans of paint to keep them busy.

What does the Argentine community think -112 wore as colors on that attack mission?

The model will be Hasegawa's.

It never occured to me but of course there was a surface radar contact by an ANA unit that directed the SUe into it's attack on the destroyer fleet. -112 was it. Do you know anyone who's told the story of that mission? Imagine it was a three hour out and three hour back. Meanwhile the attack guys come in and out in one hour and you are stuck in that old Neptune headed back to the coast while all hell breaks loose.

I've climbed around inside of a Ventura. The Neptune is an improved model of that, with the 3350 engines that the B-29 and Lockheed Constellation had. But it only goes 250 mph.

It's a tight and streamlined airframe with a lot of insulation from those big radials. But a crawl around.

So if on the top box one of gear legs don't touch the ground is not a good advertisement for the kit Surprise

It may have some "challenges" that will have to be dealt with. It also looks like the elevators are almost at a 90 degree angle to the fuselage as well. (or is it just the angle of the photograph?) Looks like it will need some work Thunderbolt.

Bondoman, Aztec decal will release very soon a sheet dedicated to the Falklands / Malvinas with decals for all or nearly all airplanes and helicopters involved in the conflict, including the Neptune.

Hi there,

The colours of the Neptune are:

Blue FS 35275

Green: FS 34325

Gray: FS 36320

Propellers were dark gray and black.

I am not so sure that one sheet can cover  every AC involved in the conflict, maybe they will do like Condor decals did, two sheets covering the man machines involved, A-4s, Daggers, Harriers and Sea Harrier, etc..

Where did you find out about the Malvinas sheet? I can not find anything about it in Aztec web site.

At Aztec´s Facebook page they say the sheet will cover all the aircrafts involved.

Meanwhile, is already available the 1:48 FCM sheet for the Argentinian Skyhawks

Next will  be the S-2E

Well I do hope that the sheet comes out before June so I can get the Mirage Squadron tail markings that I need! Wink

Anyways, I resumed work on my Mirage today and applied the cockpit IP and side console decals and worked on the ejection seat so that it will bet. a bunch of trimming and filing was required to make that happen...

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

-112 Neptune was acquired in 1977 from the US. Originally was in USN gray over white, In 1978 participated in operation Tronador in a border conflict with Chile at which time was painted blue and green over gray,

Flew SAR over the site of the sinking of the General Belgrano on May 2-3.

On a second mission on May 4 he detected British warships- the three Type 42 class destroyers, south of the islands.

Told to hold pattern and appear to be searching for more survivors, he set a course for the SUe strike that sank Sheffield.

Here's the kit and I am going to buy the decals per the links provided.

Interesting that a really ancient a/c in an overland camo did the pathfinding for a signature element of the war.

The color in my view is not the more correct.  Would have to be darker and with a little touch of blue.

No but Azorean posted that comprehensive decal set ref twice. The first time when I gave my kittle history bat Neptune 212 and then now. I don't want to own the entire set, but I would near find a 212 set alone, so I would suggest we all split up a set.

I am looking foward to that decal set, Aztec is among th best aftermrket decals I have used.

Nice work of the office of the Mirage Stik, I hope to see more pictures soon.

Vance when you can post the pics of the Learjet on he "done" list on the first page. Too bad I don´t got a Mirag kit and a Dagger convertion set, I would love to finish one more AC for the GB.
