WOW Jack!  This must be a special GB to pull you back to the boards after a year and half.  Welcome back and on board.

hello everyone,

Marc, can you put me down for a couple 1/35 Austrian figures by Zebrano.  One is an infantryman and the other is a lieutenant.

If there is enough time left will also tackle a 1/35 Model T Ford from RPM.  For those interested Resicast also make's a resin version, albeit more expensive.  Both companies make various versions of this car, such as an ambulance, etc.

For an interesting article about the Ford's use  in the the desert during WW1, I've linked the bottom pic.

regards,

Jack

WOW TD!!  That is an exceptional build, especially for one so small!  It looks fantastic and has gotten me charged up for the start of this GB!!

Thanks.I have little interest in WWI,but I had a blast with this kit.

The paint job is a mix of features I found on numerous pics of models and surviving vehicles.

There seems to be little agreement on how these were painted,so I just ran with whatever I found appealing.

I am particularly happy with the tracks.

TD that is really great.  Way to take the early start option in kick out a doozy to set the bar high for the GB.

Current progress.

Tracks installed. The track ends looked a bit cheesy.I don't think melting them together would have held.

Liquid Nails to the rescue.

More vehicle markings along with some weathering added using Tamiya weathering powders.

A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.

Thanks guys.I read somewhere that this kit has been around since 1967.It is definately a well produced kit.

It's probably not the last time I'll build it.

Wow, I cannot believe that is the ancient Airfix kit. What a job! That kit is as old as WW1 itself, I think.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

The DESkit website lists it at 53 euros, which equates to about $79-$80 USD!!  And that doesn't include international shipping!  Expensive but well worth it if it means not having to spend so much time correcting a poor plastic kit!   I can always make more $$,...but I can't make more time!Wink

TD, there should be at least 1 WIP pic between the i the box shot and the finished build shotWhistling

Ernest.. glad to have you.  Is the DES kit available?  Any reviews of it out there?

wing_nut, I can't find any US or UK distributor of DESkit  that has FT-17s available.  Looks like I may have to order from them directly: not an easy thing because their website is difficult to figure out and ordering looks to be by fax!   The only "review" I've come across is in another magazine where Mike Rinaldi mentions that its a pretty straitforward build. He just corrected a couple of hatches and replaced the tracks with Friuls.

TD, that is a cool little kit, and it's shaping up into a fine build! Yes

Marc, maybe that guy has a fetish for pre-ogled WWI kits? Stick out tongue

I really like the way the paint looks.

I am sad to report that some one broke into my garage.  I went to get MY Albatros from storage and it was gone!  It was replaced with the same kit in a box still with the original tape seal.  Surely that can be the only explanation.  There is no way I didn't rip that box open to ogle and fondle the plastic as soon as it arrived.  Right?Whistling
