 troublemaker66:

I never took it as don't use this or that. I just thought it was kind of funny how that little mention of salt chipping was like throwing a match on a puddle of gas. Kind of like Yosemite Sam when his "britches are burning" Wink

Who`s "britches are burning"? I`m asking because I think I`m the only one that went on at length that was pro-salt weathering and there was nothing "explosive" on my end...lol. That`s why they make chocolate and vanilla...and a thousand other flavors...don`t like one then try another...Wink

I was referring to how I made mention that I used salt chipping on my Corsair and Hans posting that he thought that the rubber cement way was easier. A little later I posted how I buzzed up the GB when I made mention of salt chipping. It was meant as a joke, if I offended you I apologize for that. I was not trying to imply that anyone got his britches burnt with what was posted. Sorry Embarrassed

[/quote]Nope...no offence...it`s all good...prolly judt read it wrong like I usually do...Big Smile

For the love of Pete, I'm starting my final build (B-25J) and has anyone else had "gap issues" with the engine nacelles attaching to the wings??  This isn't just a putty fix gap, it's rather significant (e;g;, 1/8" on either side.  I didn't see in the kit reviews online that this was a major issue, nose weight yes but I think I may have to use styrene filler or any ideas??.  I'd attach a pic but at work.

Haven't gotten to that point with mine, but I have noticed that when dry fitting the fuselage halves together I'm missing a nice portion of the fuse where the top turret is.  It'll be interesting, that's for sure..

Hence your forum handle, "Troublemaker66" Wink  just kidding!  Seriously, I didn't take it amiss either, your post or any of the other responses about the technique.  I think we had a good discussion about it, a mix of technical info, salted, as it were, with opinion Wink

I probably won't use it any more, because it is a little more effort than need be, for results that I can get with simpler methods.

BTW, Zero is stalled right now, got IJN dark green and light grey on it, need to touch up some spots where there was bleeding under the masking, but then I realized that I did it a$$-backwards--I have to paint recognition markings, which I should have laid down first, and masked over.  D'oh.

Best regards,

Brad

Yup, my stalled B-25 has had that issue. I used gel super glue to fill it.

Cant remember my mitchell having gaps that severe in that area.... As i recall it went together just fine with glue and masking tape all around as clamps....

Yeah, I think that may be a better way, I'm not confident enough to cut and shave pieces of styrene (besides the fact I'm too lazy to put that much in at this point, very disappointing)  I may have to tweak the wing dihedral a bit to to try and narrow it up.

I filled 'em with stretched sprue and liquid cement, then sanded, then re-scribed the lines..

I guess I'm dead. Not to the halfway point yet with the "Vette, and havent cut sprue on the Eagle yet. Only 11 days left since start of my first. Cant build an Eagle in 11 days regardless of the "Vette..... Just make sure to use 2 blocks on each leg when you throw me in the river.......

Unfortunate, KM...

However, don't give up ALL hope... Given the enthusiasm this GB created, there WILL be a "Round Two"...

Thanks for letting me live.Black Eye Monogram is still my favorite. I wish Revell would bring back Monogram's 1/825 scale carriers. Weird scale yeah, but they had the only out-of-the-box CV-67 JFK there was.

Hans,

For a next term of this great GB would you consider allowing more monogram/ revell/ revell AG kits? There is so much neat stuff done by these companies that is often looked down on as inferior... Just a thought there.

No sweat... I don't need ta whack anyone just yet anyway...Perhaps I'll one day need a favor from you... Wink

I'v considered it, yes... I don't want to add Revell Germany though....

What I'd LIKE to do in Round Two is add the pre-merger Revell kits... A "MonoVell Mafia", perhaps...

I was also thinking more of a "Classic Kit" GB even later on, and adding the other guys that get "Poo-pooed" regualarly, like HAWK (to include the Testor's reboxes), Lindberg, Aurora, AMT, Life-Like, Glenco, Heller, and the like... I still want to keep it "60s & 70s tech"... I need to do a lot more research before I announce anything like that though...

Hey, whats a guy gotta do to get made around here?  I posted my finished F-100D (and a TBD Devastator as a bonus!) a couple a weeks ago, and no "finito" on da front page yet?!?!

I hear the TAMIYAni family is looking for new recruits - maybe I should go check them out and see if they take care of the little guys . . . .   Perhaps the REVELLoroni's are recruting?  . . . Wink

I've got 7 or 8 each of the Lindberg Goshawk and the Aurora F4B-4s in the stash, plus the Renwal Goshawk with that God-awful AeroSkin, all bought to make some 1/48 flight deck displays with several aircraft from the same squadron, any of those would be perfect for a Nostalgia group build.  Got the Fury and a couple boxings of the Gladiator, too.
