And I'm done with the Magnesium Overcast for build #2! It's not a complicated kit to build, which helps because of the size. My hat's off to Convair for creating an impossible greenhouse/nosecone framework to paint. I did find a place to put her, it's in the last picture.

Fantastic GlennBeer!  That has to be a 48" table top it's pictured on and it almost covers it!  BTW, is that a 1/72 P-38 & 109  beside it in the final (they're dwarfed) & how DID you do the canopies?

Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom.  Peace be with you.

On the Tarmac: 1/48 Revell P-38

In the Hanger: A bunch of kits

Glenn-

The B-36 looks awesome! I have one but need to rearrange my shop so I can build it. I have a B-52 and B-1 also...might have to build all three while my bench is re-configured for the Peacemaker build.

Again, great job on that beastie!

Glenn, that is a really pretty build.  I plan to photograph my B-25J outside on completion.  Indoor lighting just doesn't bring out the NMF like sunshine....

Thanks for the kind words, y'all! Those are 1/72 aircraft parked around her. I tried to foil the window frames but it wouldn't cooperate. I then brush painted the lines, trying to use capillary action to keep it between the lines. I had to do some scraping afterwards of course. It would've been too much to mask it, and I didn't look for any precut masks.

If you can fit a B-52, B-1 and B-36 in one area, you have my utmost respect! It doesn't look like I'll be building too many more large beasts due to the room!

I agree on taking pics outdoors. I don't have to worry about getting rid of the yellow tinge on the images.

Thanks again!

Glenn - that is one magnificent monster aircraft!!  YesYesYesYesYesYes  (a thumbs up for each recip engine)  A beautiful finish and excellent work on those windows!  I remember the B-36s at Ellsworth AFB many years ago.  They were really impressive both in the air and on the tarmac, and had a very distinctive sound when airborne.

Great job.  Ken

Nice finish, Glenn!  It is an impressive model.

All that comes to mind is a quote from some article on the B-36, about how the "reverberating snarl" of its engines was a common sound in the '50s.

The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.

My first offering to the noble, Don Hammerini.........Here's my finished P39 from the South Pacific.  Love this little model; will have to pick up another one soon. Note the 'vintage' Confederate Air Force boxing and instructions.  Painted the formation lights, wing and nose guns, and hit it with a coat of Krylon matte finish from a rattle can.....came out pretty good, IMHO....Smile

Mississippi, that's an "excelante" rendition of the Peacemaker...   While 1/72 isn't my scale, there's little else one can do outside vac-forms to build that monster bird in a bigger scale..   I WANT to tackle another vac-form too, but right now isn't the time... I haven't got the new wing built-on m' trailer that displaying it would take.. Bravissima!

Dave, as far as I can tell, the little 'Cobra's really well-executed... Did you post the thmbnails though?  I can't figure out how to make them any larger..

Looks like I found the right way to upload pictures from Photobucket, thanks to Doogs' website.  Next step will be to get better quality photos up.  At least these will be easier to see.....now, on to the mustang!

Very nice looking Airacobra. This kit stands up well against the newer ones even after 40 some years.

Hans - I'm looking to slam something together here in the next week or so to get my second build in under the wire...does the 1/48 Monogram Mirage 2000 count? Don't remember ever seeing that one come out in Revell livery, but of course I could be wrong!

The Mirage 2000 is pre merger. It originally was issued as a prototype in the late 70s/early 80s and has been reissued a few times. I completed on last year.

Well my F9F is now ready for a coat of Future in the morning.Today I did a touch up of Sea Blue after yesterday's touch up of Aluminum where needed and painting the horizontal and vertical stabilizer tips white. Then in the evening after my son's Cross Country meet I can apply the decals.

Here's a pic of a guy in a 'cobra. Name the connexion w/ this GB and you get a free pistol w/o serial numbers.

I know! I know! Wink

Today in the midday I airbrushed on a coat of Future on the F9F and the bombs. Earlier this evening I applied the decals.

Maybe on my days off next week I will be at the finish line. Hard to say yet.Hmm

Ok, well, with the end of the build winding down I believe that I am now in a position to be made.  Of course, that's up to the Don.  I've been working a little bit here and there then work called me yesterday and told me that I've got to head to a job that's over 200 miles from home and I'm leaving Thursday morning.  Without further ado..

Primered..

Painted:

Added some chipping using the Rubber Cement technique..

And all finished..

Each build together..

Hans, I'd like to thank you for hosting this build.  It was quite fun.  Definitely enjoyed this one.  Can't wait for round 2.  Can't wait to see what kind of awesome builds we finish with..

I love the way your P-40 and B-25 came out, swingr!  Very nice finishes!

I've gone into a modeling hiatus again, so the Zero and the A-24 are still sitting.

They both turned out great swinger. Beer  I must say, some time (in the distant future) I will tackle that B-25 again and build your version and not the "Finito Benito".  One thing I'm sure you've done since the pics.......... remove the tape from tail gunner canopy.Wink

Bondo, no, my little quote was not referring to the Giants.  It was actually last updated in 2009 after the Yankees won the series.  It was originally referring to the Phillies.

Reasoned, as I was uploading the pictures I noticed that I hadn't removed that tape!  It's off now.  Also, the lenses in the front were added too.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
