Alright, here's the phone-camera version of the Mirage before she heads off to the paint booth:

Once I get some color on her, I'll be sure to take some more "official" pics. Yes

Your pony turned out very nice, Dave!  And I'm with Reasoned, I like the pilot, too.  It's very much in the old Monogram spirit to include him, extra Monogram Mafia bones for you!

Dave, the Pony looks great Beer, nice to see a subject other than BBD.  I also like the pilot in the crate, most leave that in the box.  One observation though, it was my understanding that the antennae wire is not present on the "D" version, or was that on just certain planes depending on their area of deployment.

Thanks, Dupes!  Trying to figure out my new camera too.  Until then, I'm using my semi-reliable Droid phone.  Not too terrible; it takes the exact picture I tell it to take (unfortunate, at times!!) My apologies to all for the double posts; still haven't completely figured out how to post pics from photobucket...... Still so much for this old dog to learn!!Confused

Whoah, sweeeeeet Mustang!! Cool

Mirage 2000 is all built - didn't quite have time to mask the canopy. Should get that done when I get out of work so I can fire some gray paint at it. While that's drying, I need to try to figure out what color the bluish-grayish-greenish-greyblue needs to be.

Will have to resort to phone pics until I get the new camera figured out.

LIked the one picture so much, I had to post it twice!Embarrassed

Hey Stick, looks like your Panther faired better that mine.....last time I saw it, the parks and rec guys were putting it on a flatbed truck for an unknown fate.  Your model looks great, can't wait to see the finished product.

I remember building that Bearcat.  Great little kit, but so small to have so many decals.  She's a bute

Finally, got the "Detroit Miss" finished up tonight.  Finished up the details, and attached the antennae through the main canopy.  No after market frills here.  After that, I took a few pictures with my cell phone.  Now, awaiting 'the Don's" favor......Hopefully, I'm an 'earner' like the rest of you mugs!!

That Panther's the bee's knees Stik!  Still some great work goin on here.  Wasn't planning on doing all the little greeblie decals for the Bearcat, but got started and she started to shine (in my eyes anyways).  Decal count so far is 32.  Still have couple to add to the top of the wings, with the undersides of the wings and the fuselage yet to go.  I think there's maybe 30 parts in the entire kit, the decals will just about triple that when I'm done.  Oh yeah, the NO PUSH, NO STEP and HANDS OFF are legible in 1/72.

I just realized that during the most recent move, I broke off the tail wheel.

You too? We had one at a local park that sounds in identical condition that I used to play in as well. Sometime in the 80s they covered it in a light coat of concrete and painted it in "kid friendly" colors (bright yellow overall with all sorts of trim).  I just did an image search for it and found that it is now repainted in a proper paint scheme recently. You can see the blue worn away to the old yellow by the kiddy ground crew Wink

The Panther is lookin' good, Stick!  We use to have one of those on static display in a local park.  It was in sad shape, and had been stripped of just about everything.  I remember as a kid crawling in and out of the intakes, and how slick the wings were....a really cool jet.  (Also reminds me of the G.I. Joe Panther from the '60s...another great childhood memory!)

Thanks, Don Hammer!  Mustang is about in the bag; just need to decal the drop tanks and attach them, the pitot tube, and the gunsight and she will be done.  A little behind the 8 ball lately at work on 2nd shift and overtime .  Totally loving this GB though, having an awesome time!

My sincerest apologies padrone.  Here is where I'm at on the Bearcat.  Got most of the major decals on, still have to do the underside and all the little greeblie decals.  Not real happy with the paint, it was the first time I tried to shoot gloss out of my spraygun (don't think you can call a Badger 250 an airbrush).  I really enjoyed this kit, other than the paint and a mishap with the top orange band.  I've got two more of these little gems,  along with two Cobra Company cockpits and Airwaves pe sets.  Looks like Starfighter decals will be getting a call for more decals (these are from the Revell Germany repop).  The Tigercat, unfortunately, still lies safely in her box.  Perhaps a Cobra Company F7F-3N conversion set is in her future.  Perhaps the Don would be willing to grant some of us lollygaggers an extension?

Mirage 2000 slam-build progressing quite well so far...cockpit is nearly done. Should be gluing the fuselage halves together tomorrow, and slinging some paint by Sunday.

Pics to come!

Hey all-great work being posted here.  Really has made me rethink my position on the older Monogram kits.

Needless to say, I'm not going to make the deadline...the P-51D is about 90% complete but I'm toast tonight.  The Shelby Cobra is a mixture of sub assemblies and painted parts.  Probably about an hour or two of some gluing, but again, ain't gonna happen.

I will be finishing them up soon and will post pictures....that is if the guys in the black Cadillac with the violin cases don't stop by to give a concert......

Again, this has been a great motivator-I'm much further along than I would normally be with a project.  Did a little scratch building of the gun sight for the Mustang that I'm quite proud of....might even post a picture!  And so impressed with the level of detail that I recently added a B-25J and a King Fisher to my stash. And next month I plan on picking up the Helldiver and Jungle Jim's Vega Funny Car (of course, that was an old Revell kit, but you get the idea).

I am looking forward to Round 2, be it with Monogram kits, older Revell, AMT, whatever.....

Cheers all....and thank you Hans for the idea and inspiration.

Bob

Hans, still chugging along over here. The Tomcat is finally painted to my satisfaction and the Airacobra is being decalled as we speak. The F-14 won't make the deadline but the P-39 will. Thanks for a great GB, it has been an honor to have my stuff along side these great builds. Can't wait for part 2. Big Smile Yes

Bondo, no, my little quote was not referring to the Giants.  It was actually last updated in 2009 after the Yankees won the series.  It was originally referring to the Phillies.

Reasoned, as I was uploading the pictures I noticed that I hadn't removed that tape!  It's off now.  Also, the lenses in the front were added too.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

They both turned out great swinger. Beer  I must say, some time (in the distant future) I will tackle that B-25 again and build your version and not the "Finito Benito".  One thing I'm sure you've done since the pics.......... remove the tape from tail gunner canopy.Wink

I love the way your P-40 and B-25 came out, swingr!  Very nice finishes!

I've gone into a modeling hiatus again, so the Zero and the A-24 are still sitting.

Ok, well, with the end of the build winding down I believe that I am now in a position to be made.  Of course, that's up to the Don.  I've been working a little bit here and there then work called me yesterday and told me that I've got to head to a job that's over 200 miles from home and I'm leaving Thursday morning.  Without further ado..

Primered..

Painted:

Added some chipping using the Rubber Cement technique..

And all finished..

Each build together..

Hans, I'd like to thank you for hosting this build.  It was quite fun.  Definitely enjoyed this one.  Can't wait for round 2.  Can't wait to see what kind of awesome builds we finish with..

Well my F9F is now ready for a coat of Future in the morning.Today I did a touch up of Sea Blue after yesterday's touch up of Aluminum where needed and painting the horizontal and vertical stabilizer tips white. Then in the evening after my son's Cross Country meet I can apply the decals.

The Mirage 2000 is pre merger. It originally was issued as a prototype in the late 70s/early 80s and has been reissued a few times. I completed on last year.

Hans - I'm looking to slam something together here in the next week or so to get my second build in under the wire...does the 1/48 Monogram Mirage 2000 count? Don't remember ever seeing that one come out in Revell livery, but of course I could be wrong!
