NIce Mirage, Dupes; really love the lines of a delta wing fighter: sleek, fast, deadly......
Stick, the patrol boat looks great; gotta love that 50s/60s era international orange safety gear....high vis for rescuers and high vis for the enemy as well. Reminds me of my G.I. Joe 'climbing' into (or getting crammed?) into his Panther jet fighter for another dangerous mission over Korea (actually Virginia). He had that cheesy international orange life vest over his flight suit........
Any luck yet finding a 1/48th scale Frankenstein to stand in for a future Senator Blutowsky?? LOL
2022 New Year's Resolution: Enter 1 group build and COMPLETE a build this year!! Why Photobucket did you rob me of my one Group Build Badge??? Must be part of the strong anti-Monogram cartel!!!

Just my two bits. That life ring looks like a big ole target. if I were the Chief, I'd have painted it gray from the can in the locker or at least hung a piece of tarp over it.
I airbrushed on a coat of Future this afternoon. No other progress to speak of... Tomorrow I ought to be able to get the decals on.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

That Mirage is looking good there Dupes.
Today, all main painting that needs to be done prior to Future coat was completed. Overspray all cleaned up,, life raft, life rings, weapons, anchor lines, and screws (props) painted in their proper respective colors.
after the Future it will be decals, wash, and then the usual follow up of top coat, final detail painting such as navigation lights, install the cabin windows, and weathering....
nice lookng bird Marc.. !
and thanks stik..

Sorry for the delay in getting a final pic of the Mirage done...took it with Mia's new camera, I obviously need to play with the settings. All of the colors are a little wacky. Here she is:
Ended up doing her in HAF markings after having to masking tape-remove the original (poor) kit supplied French decals. The Icarus set went down much better. While I know there are some accuracy issues, it's really a great kit from a fit/detail standpoint.
Looks good next to the F-5E.

Thats gonna be one wild looking F-15 P-38...
Today I completed the 1/48 scale William Holden/Lt Brubaker for the Panther and them installed him... and since those pics were requested here
And I airbrushed the top of the Mortar Shell locker white, as per what my research has determined on the PCF
so tomorrow I will mask off the locker hatch cover and clean up the overspray from that and the Hull Red.
got the OD green on this afternoon,,,did some preshading...[View:/themes/fsm/utility/:550:0]:550:0]

Hans von Hammer Reasoned: That was a tough build for me (the canopy at least) due to being my first bomber, I want to tackle it again....... someday. Well, there IS the B-25 GB in the Aircraft hooch... Sign up, there's no start or end-date...

I done put my 25J in there already (pg. 15) ..... as it was my 2nd build for the "Mafia" build.
Build it again?......... not now, got to let some frustrations subside....... plus I like those fighter canopies..... for now.
Science is the pursiut of knowledge, faith is the pursuit of wisdom. Peace be with you.
On the Tarmac: 1/48 Revell P-38

Now that I'm here, where am I??
Somebody startin` trouble? I can`t find anything on an "OLd Kits" GB anywhere...maybe they skedaddled already....lol.
Len Pytlewski
Hmmm.. sumbody'z gettin ideas to start his own bisniss...
I got a couple sets, I think... Lemme dig around, I'll make you an offer you can't refuse...
BTW, what's with the rookie and the "Old Kits" GB? I think we gotta rat in here...
Hans von Hammer stikpusher: No future Senator Blutarsky though... Just FYI, the Tami 1/48 US Infantry figures could be converted to Vietnam types easy enough... Only real trouble with them is scale.. They're all about a scale foot shorter than Monogram ground crewman figures.. But they at least got helmeted heaads and arms that'd work..

Unfortunately right now funds are too tight to afford even those. Right now I am living on stash alone...
Well today I was able to paint thebottom of the hull USN Anti Fouling Red.
The masking took longer than the painting...
and our Senator's voyage continues...
Hans von Hammer troublemaker66: He He...must be those Polish 50`s Grandad used to talk about.... NOTE: I am Polish so I`m allowed to say that... He tell ya about these?

Hans von Hammer LOL, I just now noticed this... You got the ammo and guns facing in different directions... The ammo cans and belts are at the front of the turret... Don't sweat it though...

Love the engine detail on that build, now that you show it, it also looks like the canopy frame on the pilots side needs paint.
stikpusher Well it does have two propellers and some .50 Cal.s so... And yes it is different... that's for dang sure! No future Senator Blutarsky though...

Well, ya still got Senator Kerry... I got a figure that'd work into a crewman cowering in the boat...
Tal Afar Dave Hammer, you will appreciate that they have a P-63 Kingcobra, recovered in the Kuril Islands while fighting the Japanese in the closing months of the war. It's a long term restoration project, so it should be interesting to watch....

Thanks for the Head's up.. The CAF P-63 is almost ready to fly, BTW... Engine run-ups and Taxi tests are completed..
JailCop hey guys just wondering if its too late to get in on this

Too late for this one, Jailcop, but don't dispair... Round Two is a GO very soon!
LOL Vetteman!!!
I airbrushed on the first coat of paint. Since Testors MM Marine Acrylics have horrible adhesion on bare plastic, I painted the entire hull and deck house (except the interior) European I Dark Gray 36081. A website I found that has Swift Boat specs lists them as being painted Haze Gray when built, but in country they were painted a shade of Dark Gray mixed from Deck Gray and Black. I figured the European I Gray would be a good approximation there. Tomorrow I will mask off the lower hull so that I can later airbrush on Testors MM Marine Acrylic USN Hull Red. Hopefully the overall Dark Gray will act as a primer and alleviate the adhesion problem. I also airbrushed the stand and deck house interior with an approximation of Haze Gray.Since I had no Neutral Gray in Enamels, which I was using today, I used Humbrol's Sea Grey Medium, which looks close enough for government work
Anyways here are a couple pics...
Stikpusher
Randy So many to build.......So little time
Excellent choice, Stikpusher, and great progress! I had forgotten about this kit.
Regarding figures, maybe some aftermarket company will come out with a figure of a certain long-faced Senator who went on to marry a ketchup heiress....
The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen.
Well the kit did come with one figure... bu the appears to be more of an RVN figure being that he is barefooted and and armed with a M2 Carbine. His facial features appear kind of Asian as well...
Well today was final asembly prior to painting. I spent more time with seam clean up than gluing the parts on. Aft railings (thread is supposed to be added after painting)
Bow mooring bit
and an overall view with all railings, cleats, and bits in place.
Some figures would be nice but I don't have any proper 1/48 Vietnam figures in the spares bin, and funds are very tight these days. Resin is out of the question. But I sure do wish I had not pitched all that Bandai 1/48 stuff years ago. With that and some Monogram ground crew I could have thrown something together... No future Senator Blutarsky though...
Gee Stikpusher that looks like a boat man !! Oh it IS a boat ! Looking good there buddy, an hey, those new guns you added really work. Nice to see something different too as was said above.
