The only about the BoB GB is that I'm not ready to do winter washes myself.

I kinda of liked the idea of "Tough Old Gut" GB Italy 43-45, but am unsure what would really qualify. There would be Brit and American stuff too.

I will probably submit our ideas to the armor forum and maybe the flyboys too to gauge interest.

It looks as though one might have been done Bob, for there was some chatter, but that was many years ago. So, we'll add that one.

  • Stalingrad
  • North Africa
  • France
  • Battle of the Bulge

So, we are left with these 3 now, and if anyone has any others.....feel free to have a say.

  • Stalingrad
  • North Africa
  • France 1940

Battle of the Bulge?  Might be a chance to paint something OD for a change.....

Eric-I think I know the answer, but I just wanted to be 100% sure....The Battle of France is the first one, not the one starting June 6, 1944, right?

Yes Bob, you're correct. I was thinking May 10th 1940 myself. Early war panzers, or in my case a Hotchkiss 39. I also have a Panzerjager I, but that is screaming North Africa to me.

Sorry to be taking so long Andy. I'm just a little perplexed right now. I'm thinking of deleting another idea, though I think it might be cool, I have nothing that really works for it, unless I can get my hands on what I'd like to do.

So, we are left with these 3 now, and if anyone has any others.....feel free to have a say.

Or June 5th, 1940... Invasion of France?  Almost exact four years later the Allies have landed at Normandy...

Now you got me all excited... if it's France GB, I can get to build one of my Panthers kits finally as it is my favorite German tank.

Eric, what are taking you so long?!?!?  Kidding, take your time... we still have few months to decide.

 tigerman:

There have been a few thrown out there

  • Stalingrad
  • North Africa
  • Italian Campaign
  • Afrika Korps
  • Battle of France (just came up with that one)

I'm leaning towards.................stay tuned. Wink

All excellent themes Eric...only one that I'm not terribly excited about but I'd probably grab some decals for a kit in the stash or a different kit anyway.  I have kits in the stash for all but one theme and I have ideas for inexpensive kits for all of them.

Looking forward to your final decision.

I might add more. I think for now I will delete one.

  • Stalingrad
  • North Africa
  • Italian Campaign
  • Battle of France

I did some digging and seems the previous Stalingrad GB never really got going. That is the one I'm eh on. I don't really have anything for that build except my new Pz III and I don't really want to build it yet.

It's getting suspenseful now. Stay tuned.

Carl, I must admit that I'm quite happy with the results. It only took me two applications! That's really good for me. My first attempt was for smaller and more swaths of colors close together, but it just didn't turn out.

I might have overdone the Sienna. It's funny how washes never look like they're doing anything.....then bam!

I'm very close to deciding the winner for the next GB...........Whistling

Yes sir. Oils over acrylics, therefore no damage. Actually it doesn't look too bad.

BTW, I don't even do any drybrushing anymore!  Usually the filters and washes make the details stand out enough.  Instead I use some light chipping to make sure some edges are visually prominent.

I used to do it without hesitation. For some reason, I just can't stand the thought of ruining the paint job. I do agree that the washes and do it for you if done correctly.

Eric, I think that the work you've done so far is absolutely great!  The ochre/white wash has perfectly faded the camo and the pin wash has made the details stand out. Yes  The burnt sienna wash and the dot filter you plan on doing should have the effect you're aiming for:  add more color variations to the overall paint job!  Don't be too timid with that dot filter!  Leave enough streaking to make it stand out! Remember it will look more extreme when wet and become more subtle when dry.

How much do i owe you guys? Wink

Okay, I put on a burnt sienna wash to warm it up as they say. Next it a light dot filter. This might blow up in my face.

I gave up on the dry brushing for now. I just don't have the guts to do it. LOL

Eric-"...doesn't look too bad." is the understatement of the decade.  Very nice work-I love the soft edge camo and the weathering is great.  I'd display it proudly on my shelf.

Not too bad? Heck that looks great Eric! Nice blending on the camo and it looks like the pin wash is just fine.

Eric, are you using oil paint for your ochre/white wash?

Okay, finally started the weathering. Eh, not too thrilled. I put on a thin ochre that was lightened with some white. It faded the camo down nicely. Maybe too much. My pin washes were a joke! I see now that I'm going to have to drybrush. Wah. The dark camo kind of obliterated some of the detail. I should have left it after the ochre wash hehe. Okay, that wouldn't have been enough. I might have to pigment crazy to get some detail to pop also.
