Gundam store and more has them in stock

http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com/ban925800.html

Also, the smaller turrets on the Salamis and Magellan are machine guns, not mega particle cannons.  The Mousai only has missles and mega particle cannons.

Before the advent of mobile suits combat was done Napoleonic style, with ships in lines doing massive broadsides.  Zeon was trying to set up massive space cannons (and other ones can be seen completed and used in the series) that would take out a ship in a single shot.  The ones we see later in the series are amplified, power wise, to beable to take out whole swaths of a fleet but they are the size of small moons.

with the advent of mobile suits the ships mega particle cannons could not target and hit the quick mobile suits and the Zaku Is and IIs would move in quickly and just cut massive holes in the fleet before pulling back, not often loosing many.  This caused the Federation to arm their Balls, which until then were used for space construction and repair on the battleships.

BSYamato,

Nice linkie!  I can't read Korean, but it appears that the kit on the site is a little different from the one I have.  It has additional details that my kit lacks, like the open bay options and the "shortie" radiator stacks.  The stand is also different.  I wonder if the kit is a Korean knock-off with enhanced features?  Anyone ever see this kit?

BTW, too bad Bandai never kitted a 1/400 Salamis cruiser to go with their Musai.

Magnific musai(s) Real G YesYes

the "ex" models are drammatically detailed Tongue Tied

I disagree too for the little scale used, at least a 15 cm finished ship was good Huh?

Also prices for these kits (at least in italy ) are about 30\40 €!!!! too expensive imho

Dupes probably these kits are imported in USA too

heres the ex kits reviews and sprues

Dupes,

Oh bunky, Hobbylink Japan and 1999 are both out.  So yeah, I guess you'd have to go to Japan or have a buddy who lives there root one out of a hobby shop for you.  But man, the exchange rate against the dollar is really bad right now.

Hey F91,

Here are the old and new Musai light cruisers that I built.

First the old 1/1200 scale kit:

Old Musai-Front

And this is the newer 1/1700 scale EX kit:

EX Musai-Front

I built and painted both models at the same time using the same colors and weathering techniques, in order to make a comparison between the two.  They were base coated with flat black, then the green was highly thinned and misted on in patches centering on the panels and details.  I used Testors MM enamels all the way.

Personally, I liked the EX kit a lot, but was a little disappointed that Bandai chose a smaller scale than their classic kit.  I chose to use the plastic vanes on the sides of the hull, as I thought the PE parts looked too 2-dimensional.  The old kit was kind of dumpy by comparison, but was very enjoyable to build nevertheless.  I added scribed styrene sheet to the engine intakes (Radiators?  No air in space...) and Kotobukiya rockets to the exhausts as the kit engine pods were blank on both ends.  I also added some clear plastic windows for the bridge, cut from an old CD case and tinted with Tamiya clear orange.

BTW, great stuff on the GB!  Congrats to the guys who finished their models.  I loved the Big Zam - I have a soft spot for the wacky Zeon mobile armors.  Sorry I haven't been active, as I have been too busy to get any bench time.  But I promise to resume work shortly.  Keep up the good work guys!

I think the old ones are actually better than the EX series. At least the Musai anyway. It's way overdetailed.

The Salamis only outguns the Musai by 2-1...

The difference early in the war was that Feddie capital ships had Balls, Musai's had Zaku's.

Yeah, it does outgun it, but the Musai's profile is quite strange making a broadside not hit the entire thing.  Also the Magella is a capital class, the Musai is not, the Mousai is on the same line with the Salamis (the blue one).

The Gwazine is the Zeon battleship http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/msgundam/gwazine.htm

Yes- The really old little guys. 1/1200. Pretty sure the Magellan would wipe up the Musai. Outguns it more than 3 to 1.

I stumbled onto this thread looking for some Musai pictures for reference. Needless to say, I will have a completed Musai and Magellan pretty soon.

Nice Gouf!

Bit of a hiccup with the M61A5 - apparently Bandai really means it when they lay out assemblies in a particular order...unlike most tanks, you are NOT able to add the drive sprockets afterwards! I have a broken axle to prove it - am fabricating a brass replacement now.

I like the Gouf, nice and beat up but still looking victorious.

I went with a mud-colored wash, then a dry-brushing (hope I didn't go overboard, I really wanted to look 'used'), and lastly I brushed on chalk for the sandy-dirty look. That was my first time using chalks, I really like the effect!

Great Gouf badlanguage Bow Down nicely done weathering.

I know how to post from flick but need a your link (added you also on my flickr account)

click on share button on top of the picture (not the twitter , facebook etc buttons)  ,you will see a pop up with 3 options:  go on the last  HTML/BBCode and copy the long link write inside the window and past the link to the forum "insert media" button (frame icon on the left of smiles) .

Need at least a link to post the gouf on the GB gallery Toast

Also i can advice to get even a photobucket account, is more simply to share pictures with it and you can put looots of free pictures

If that didn't work I'd appreciate some advice on how to post pics! I think you can get to other pics here if interested. I suck at Flickr, so maybe it isn't.

This was a very fun kit to build! Especially taking artistic license with paint and weathering. Next I need to learn how to operate my camera and take better pictures.

Why dont you try something different?

use something like clear black (smoke) from tamiya to shade the dark areas

its not a solid color and it lets the bottom leak through, making it look like, well, shadows

smeagol the vile

that looks like a good realistic color reproduction for the Gouf, I'd go with it.

watching the perfect dry color i'm too with it. Also seems to give a retro look like the RealG old gouf Toast

a dry highlight wuth azure and white can work!

But need again the second darker color, only a color don't look so good for the gouf Propeller

btw lots of pieces again need the first layer and all the second (or if needed the third) .... yes finished gouf being to pop up in my head Stick out tongueStick out tongue

Totally awesome! Dupes, this has got to be one of the coolest paint schemes I've seen on a tank.

Beats the heck out of my 1/144th M61s!

Please, keep up the great work!
