Is that a trick question?  You got me, I think it looks perfect!  Not to belittle anyone else or give you an inflated head but I think that is one of if not the best looking Pz III I've seen!  I'll wait to say what I like best until you make up your mind of weather or not its done.

I had figured you were just leaving the Schurzen off.  You see many with the side plates off all the time.

Considering how many pics that I have seen of Panzers with the hull schurzen missing and the turret schurzen installed, I never even considered that.Hmm yours struck me as perfectly normal, not an oversight...

Carl- Absolutely am with Rob... one of best looking Panzer IIIs here.  It was a great pleasure following your work since day one.  I think you owe me 42 Beer now... I sure hope my StuG comes half as good as yours!

About the skirts, often I see them without those.  It is your call... take the badge now or add the skirts?

Stik- I think Carl forgot to add a case of German Beer to his Panzer?

Well guys , Rob and Stik , i've been kicking around the idea of leaving the Schurzen off..............Hmm............especially since the kit supplied material for them is acetate . Sounds kind of iffy to me . I wanted to show some damage to the Schurzen but that would be difficult with acetate i would think . Maybe i'll call this one finished and if i want to make my own Schurzen out of styrene i can do that later . Ok , i have made up my mind , its done . Andy i'm going to put the G.B. on .Yes

Carl- Down to zero?  I won't let it happen... LOL

Guys- Sorry nothing excited to update on my work for several reasons... helped my wife move her hobby desk from the quest bedroom on second floor to the basement right next to my work bench.  Yes, I am not joking...

Hope it is not a bad thing? LOL  At least the whole family is with me in the basement while I play with my little Army.  You see big old TV in the background?   That's my boys playing stupid xbox game while Laura is doing her girly craft stuff.

Worked on my StuG yesterday a bit... nothing excited.  Sprayed two flat coats of clear so I can not do anything for more than 24 hours.  Then I started working on the figures with base coats only... you know how much I enjoy painting figures.

Have a great week!

Sorry for the delay.  The wife has kept me busy the past couple days and so has work.

Bill- Thanks for the kinds words!

Carl- Thanks!  Your PZ III is outstanding!  I'm gonna steal a couple of techniques for future use.

Andy- Thanks!  the pre-shading and first coat look good.  The PE tool clasps are a pain but worth the effort.  Used Mr. Surfacer 1000 for part of my priming and liked it but do you have the spiderweb problem with it?  I've tried various thinning ratios, air pressures, etc. and it looks like a family of spiders took over my spray booth.

Stik- Thanks!

Rob- Thanks for the compliment!  The rear stowage rack is a combination of PE and scratchbuilt.  Unfortunately I knocked two of the upright supports (on either corner of the rear deck) off multiple times each Embarrassed.  It looks nice, but is extremely fragile.

It's a rainy/nasty cold day here so that = workbench time!  Hopefully will get a wash on a couple of items and maybe a dullcoat.

Peace through superior firepower.

Brian- I think all wives are like that... my wife moved her hobby desk next to me.  Yikes!  I think there are some conspiracy going on against us modelers.  But do understand family and work comes first!

Yes, I had similar experience shooting web out of airbrush when I used Mr Surfacer.  I learned from other forum that if you add too much thinner it would shoot web.  I added less thinner like 80/20 last time and it made a huge difference!  I saw very little web coming out this time if I shoot too far.  The guys in other forum said that Mr Surfacer dry so quickly that it turn into web before it hits the surface.

Hope this helps...

No progress reports for me either this weekend. All my efforts were focused on Weekend Madness IV Stick out tongue When my 48 hours were up this morning I had a nice 1/35 Academy Gun Jeep. I posed it with my last completed AFV build here for a nice size comparison...

Tomorrow I will resume work on the Mk III.

Andy, that is a nice family area there you have.

Stik- No kidding... I have been lurking Weekend Madness and watched your work.  I liked your the best of course cause I am not into those wingy things. Big Smile

Thanks!  My house was built in 1968 so it comes with a nice sized basement.  That's one of few reasons why we bought the house so I can have my own space for the hobby.  Looking forward to see your Mk III again...

Thank you sir. I did notice there was a lack of armor there this year, aside from a Monogram Patton and my Jeep. Last year I did a Tamiya KV-1. You know once upon a time most of my builds were weekend builds... but then I was a young man with no obligations other than those to Uncle Sam...

We have no basements around here due to the water table being fairly close to the surface. And if no one is using that spare room now it can be a hobby display room (split between your stuff and the wife's of course). My wife used to do craft painting when I was building models, ages ago, but that was before little ones who got into all her stuff. Perhaps one day againin the future now that the youngest is 14...

As long as I do not have a late nite at work tonite I will get a base coat of Panzer Gray on my Mk III tomorrow. I was on a roll with it...Wink Lets see if I can re capture that momentum.

I saw Ernest's work on Patton... it looks great too!  I built one when I was 15 years old or so.  I still have that built kit sitting on my shelves after so many years.

I think you will enjoy a nice break from painting those olive drab paint... Big Smile

Watching Ernest's (and a few others that have popped up recently) Patton build makes me want to build another. I built two in my teens, one USMC Vietnam early in High School around 79 or 80 and another as Israeli while still in my teens at Ft Polk around 84 or so. Still have both.
And whats wrong with Olive Drab?AngryWink

Carl,,,   the III looks great. I agree with the others and would not have guessed the skirts were an oversight. BUT, if you do decide, perhaps you just hang a couple (?). Maybe try some thin brass sheets.... the ones that are easily cut. Dinging these sheets up is a breeze too.

Andy,,, you are a better man than I.         Not that I don't luv my little gal, but,,,,,    I tend to like very little distraction when I work at the bench.     Plus I sometimes b*tch about this or that and there is no doubt she would get a kick out of that,,,  which would make me b*tch more (I could foresee a terrible cycle).

Enjoy the ride!

Real quick question .. .. ..

When I try to add another graphic to my signature line I get this message:

The following errors were found in your form:

Maximum signature length is 512 characters

As you can see, I don't have much in my sig area at all....    Any ideas?

Enjoy the ride!

Bill thanks for the comments on my Pz.III . The brass is a real good idea ! Yes

On adding another G.B. to your sig line and getting the error message i think that what happens is all of the letters in each img from photo bucket add up to a total count of too many letters . What i did , and probably others , is edit all of G.B.badges into one pic on my computer and then upload that to photo bucket , that way it counts as only one img and has less letters . Make sense ?

Hey guys,

So I'm finally on that vacation, and it feels great! I hope to get to some serious work tomorrow, but I have a problem.  I'm at the stage where I was about to assemble my first MagicTracks, but I don't know what to do.  My problem is that I posted a question on here a little while ago before the U.S. government declared war on Tamiya products asking what to use to set the tracks up, and everyone said to use Tamiya Extra Thin Adhesive, which has now been deemed "toxic" and isn't available (although McDonald's continues to sell the McRib, which has chemicals used in styrofoam to give the bun texture and has meat which can't legally be called pork but is actually "animal product"). Eats

Anyways, I don't know what to do with these tracks.  Anyone got any ideas?

-Mike
