seat belts on, i forget but after washing i put white drybrush , placed gloss clear drops on the instruments and add chipped silver with .. brush the other try with other chippin method failed.

decals ip on

the under decals need a cut, was too wide for the ip!!

What's about the looking with scratched mask i did? 

is not glued but probably the ip working better without, what's your opinion?

then actual situation, finaly near to glue halves together

no updates for the mary, get involved with the veltro for the Tigerman's speed italian GB ,then first will finish the zero before mary messing start

Looking good bsyamato, I like your scratch belts, tried that myself one time.  The IP has a pretty solid look to it.

I hope to be able to post some pics of the Val office soon, it's becoming a real PIA.

yes so was the mask don't work propertly, opted to seal decals with matt coat and after i placed some gloss clear drop on intruments, here the results. I tried to get better picture to show the difference on the surface but was hard to succeed

then starting to mummify the zero

and orizontal rundders and top with mtg glued too. The top give some difficult to place, wrong enginereed piece; to fix i needed to remove the pins in front the windshield and also needed to force the piece in !!

The fuselage instead glued almost perfect

I forget to talk about guys , but on the airfix kit there's another wrong thing!! searching on the web for the particular camouflage style never seen before, i found on a japanese aircraft blog a build of the same kit. The squadron signed on the box is wrong, the proper squadron is a training one

from the blog researchs the avaible subject from decals was full painted in yellow!! the ondulated green was added after now another drastic decision to do!! theres hve 3 ways

1) totally ignore the real aspect of the unit and paint it in green and below grey

2) correct green top and drastic yellow under

3) full yellow cab zero

Bsyamato: Nice work! Hmmmm, I'd say it's up to you which way you paint her, I think she'd be very attention getting with the trainer yellow-orange. Although I find the model the guy did interesting- I'd always seen them much more orange than what he claims is correct. Still green/grey would look great- I don't think anyone is going to complain too much if you go that way.

Gamera decals almost are correct from the real one picture, then probably i'll try a dice to choise how to finish must admit that i like the yellow as colour

So this afternoon added more pieces on wells and glued the wing(s) ,but only in longitudinal way, le sides between wings and fuselage are free. will glue after with some high tecnology measuring instruments (an eye) to get the correct inclination. Seams between fuselage was resolved with only few sanding, then good airfix fitting there.

Feels like it's been forever coming, but I'm very close to finishing off my Tamiya Razorback, and Tamiya's Ki-84 is in the on deck circle. Still got a Revellogram Jug and PCM's Fiat G.55 going, but I'll at least be starting on the Hayate very soon now!

Got a question for everyone regarding markings. I've picked up three different decal sheets with like 10 liveries between them I want to build...but I'm really drawn to this Lifelike sheet:

At first, I was all for the blue Hayate, but the Tamiya kit's really more like 1/50, so I'm concerned about the unit markings on the tail being too big. Instead I'm thinking of doing the black one...the sheet description's pretty emphatic that this plane DID exist, but I know jack all about Japanese color schemes. Mostly I see dark green, brown, or bare metal at this stage...and I've never seen a black or blue Japanese aircraft. Anybody have any knowledge they care to throw my way?

Since a black Ki-84 with bare metal undersides seems absolutely sinister.

Doogs: I am not entirely sure, I've never seen a IJA plane painted blue either and I've seen one reference to an all black Ki-44 Shoki (Tojo) but that's it. I assume Lifelike is right here- they're a Japanese company so I'd think they'd be right.

Trey did a beautiful Tamiya Ki-84, you might want to check the front page for the link to his photos. I doubt the tail decal will be too far off since you can just trim the top off if it's too long, shouldn't be too much I'd think.

Does it specifically say blue? Could it be someone's interpretation of a faded paint job? I've never seen or heard of them before. 

Harvey Low has done many articles on japanese AC and he had a list of paint swatches. I wish I knew which issue that was in. 

I have not seen them in blue n any reference I have. I think it would look cool though...odd but cool

It specifically does and includes a reference I haven't had a chance to run down yet. Seems to cut against the grain, but I do love me the oddball schemes.

My copy of 'Japanese Army Air Force Camouflage and Markings World War II' by Donald w. Thorpe does indeed show a blue Ki-84 as well as a Ki-51 Sonia.  I built the Nichimo Ki-51 and painted it blue like the box top after asking a few questions about Japanese blue at j-aircraft.com.  I did get confirmation from a gentleman (last name Hasegawa - can't remember his first name) who was on Taiwan early in the war and he also confirmed seeing aircraft wirh blue camo.  Right now I can't seem to find that thread, but I'll keep looking.

Anyway, I had these two pictures on the computer and thought I'd send them along. 

Yes I'm sure there will always be some question as to whether the blue is a faded a green, but I think it has been pretty well resolved that there were indeed blue Japanese aircraft - just not many.

Ok, I'm in. Twist my arm. Just not sure with what, yet? A 1/32 Tony? NMF and mottled camo scheme? I have 3 sets (they were on sale, afterall) of 1/32 Japanese brass cannon/machine guns. I'd hate to have them go to waste!

Doogs I was worried about the decal fit as well but they fit fine.As far as the scheme theres a lot of conjecture but very few photos,I'de say go for what you want . Not much out there to say it was'nt those colors so artistic license is a real possibility with the Jap aircraft. I did find artist renederings of the blue aircraft in one of my books but alas no actual pics.There are lots of renederings in here to look at

Thanks for the remarks.  This is the 2nd Myrt I've done and haven't been really impressed with either kit 

they both had some major fit issues with the ming to fuselage joint

Nice! I will be following that one closely...scored that kit off eBay recently and it looks phenomenal. If you're not trusting Hasegawa's decals Lifelike makes a few sheets.

Thanks! I'll check out the decals. It does look like a nice kit!  I just now ordered it off of Amazon. I got the one from the "68th flight regiment". It's not the one with the red tail. I have 3 sets of barrels for the 1/32 Tony I bought a few years back. I don't foresee making 3 Tony's. If you need one, let me know.

Sweet color pics! I that first one it looks like some mottle of IJN dark green on the rudder...Maybe mix alittle Tamiya intermediate blue and IJN green. Nothing like having a real color photo to go by and try and duplicate!
