OH MY!! Surprise Surprise  What a tragic loss!!  It was a beautiful creation, an inspiration to me and a gem to behold!  It is sad that it is now in model kit heaven Angel, but at least it graced our forums for a short time.  Sublime work Shell... to think it started out as a lowly Italeri kit!  Live and learn I suppose, but there's always more kits to build!!

I might build another Pz. 1 but it wont be an Italeri . Thanks for the kind words .Yes

Might as well get a laugh out of it Eric . I just wonder if you have ever seen a picture posted like this one before ?I'm sure if it was some one elses melt down i would be prone to laugh ..............especially after seeing the results of a temper fit ........................Whistling

Learned lesson ? You bet ! Turn off the light and swing the light fixture away from the model .

You guys are killing it with your Chars! No way I'm going to tackle one for this GB now...Wink

Shellback - sweet Pz.I! I missed what you did to your headlights...?

T-man - I posted a while back wondering if a Bf-108 would qualify (as there's no a/c guidelines posted), sure you just missed it. Any ruling?

Marc, I claim ignorance on planes for the most part on this build. If you know that it qualifies, then please do submit it.

Oh Shell.... that brought a little tear to my eye.  But look and the bright side... melt a pocket watch over the side, pass it off as a Dali and it may be worth millions.

And in an attempt to lift your spirits... I'll share too.

I will sometimes "speed dry" using the sweater rack in the clothes dryer.  Forgot to turnt he heat to low and got a Snidely Whilash prop.

Bob , Dupes , Treadplate thanks for your kind words guys .Yes

Well , here is the picture of the terrible accident . My fault , i should of been more careful . A moments carelessness is all it took . I have a swing arm lamp fixture on the table where i take the pictures . It has a 100 watt incadescent bulb in it . Well you probably know what happened ...........i left the on and went upstairs , when i came back the light had fallen closer to the model , not touching it but yet hot enough to melt one side  ..............................no repairing this mess . So now the little Pz.1 is destined for the parts box .

Caution , the following picture may be upsetting to the trus modeler .One side is pretty well melted . Oh well , that how fragile our hobby is ............................

I've been working away on the turret interior and got the details and weathering done. I applied a base coat of MM enamel Panzer Interior Buff by airbrush and let that cure for a couple of days. This particular paint has a nasty habit of needing a long time to cure for some reason but once you know that, it's not difficult to work with. I stippled some Burnt Umber to show scuffs and wear and applied an overall wash of Raw Umber for general dirt/grunge effect. Then to blend everything together, I dry brushed the Interior Buff over it to create the final layer. The rest of the details were painted by hand with the appropriate colors. For the leather bits I used MM enamel Leather and then dry brushed enamel Gunmetal and my 50/50 Light Gray/Dunkelgelb mix to create tonal variations and usage/wear. I sprayed a coat of Lusterless Flat to remove shine and dull things down as well and seal everything together.

Test fit with the gun in place and its details taken care of.

And of course the turret top received its share of attention as well. The roof was made dirtier than the rest of the interior deliberately...these variants of the Pz IV didn't have a fume extractor fan and relied instead on the large rectangular hatch in the turret for ventilation...a small thing but at least I know it's different.

tread @ Marc..... nice work on the fenders..... one problem.... those are wide style fenders NOT narrow.... the narrow fender has a gap between body & fender that runs 3/4 of the length of the char and is finally joined directly at the last quarter.... maybe Aber mis-marked your set ? Wide fenders were NOT used till after char # 398 char Berry-Au-Bac...sorry dude... with what you have , including the long exhaust that points straight back , you can do # 481 char 'Vercingetorix ' and use the kit decals... this would make all your efforts correct, and uses the Renault type I puzzle camo that you want to use also.....

don't kill the messenger...LOL

Carl;

GREAT job on the panzer I!  Hard to believe the Italeri beast could be tamed so well (and I can speak to this one, having wrestled with exactly the same kit oh, about 35 years ago...Embarrassed ) - mine, while dear (sort of, any way) to me, did not turn out anywhere's near as well as did yours!

It's Hats Off to You, Sir, and a fine job indeed!BeerBeerBeer

Carl,,    Superb job on that Pz I        just awesome!        You certainly turned that Italeri into a gem...  A+         (what disaster befell you with it?)

Marc,,    The PE and fenders look great.    I can imagine that construction would have been a bit taxing to say the least.     You did very well with it!

Enjoy the ride!

Carl Super work on the Pz I! Sorry to hear about whatever mishap might have befallen things but the pics you've posted show it's a stunner.

BeerMarc, nice work on the fenders...it is a little odd in terms of the method of assembly but I suppose given the complex shapes of the fenders themselves it makes sense in its own way.

Shellback: Wow, she looks terrific! Love the rusted-out, dinged-up muffler. And not too much weathering or too little, looks just right to me. Cool

Wingnut: Sharp work on the brackets for the fenders. I just slathered big gobs of mud up in that area myself Embarrassed

I had a little "fender bender" last night.

After bending all the brackets (some easy PE bending for a change), the L was glued to the side of the hull.  A small hole was drilled out and a plastic bolt, a resin bolt was glue in place.  Then after the mounting brackets were glued on the same was one on each side. This may be the strgest PE installation I've ever done.  All I have to do is not break off the stickin' out part while handling th darn thing.

The fenders will needs some final adjustment and the gaps where the edges fold down filled when they are permanently installed.
