Nice sites Bondoman,
Now that I've finished my helldiver I can start work on my Zero. But I'm going camping today so I won't be able to start for around a week.

Hello all,
I am already planning on at least 2 Nichimo B5N2 Kates for this build. But since I have a nephew serving in Iraq (U.S. Army) and another nephew (U.S. Marine), home now, I might also try and get a U.S. Army P-40 or maybe P-36 in honor of Joshua, and an F4F-3 in honor of James.
The P-40 is not a problem, a 1/48 kit of the P-36 seems to be a bit hard to find at the moment.
Anyone have any ideas or references to the markings of VMF-213 stationed at Ewa Field Dec. 7th? I believe there were 11 F4F-3's (?) early or late version (?) stationed there. Hobby Boss makes a 1/48 kit, but I have no idea about the markings and the only VMF-213 decals I can find are for the F4U Corsair.
Anyway, any ideas, info, leads, would be appreciated,
kevin
I dug this out of the stash.I knew I'd find something. It's a simple kit,but will suffice.
Get well soon!
Ive started the SBD. After working 2 12 hour shifts in a row and getting friday off as a result of that I was hoping to get some work done but now Im getting a cold or something thats been going around the house. Guess I will have to wait till next weekend.
missed the part that you were going to do the tower Bill. glad to see that idea didnt go away. i look forward to seeing you finish it.
Get your color yet? I can check to see if the stores I go to have any left.
Yes! My LHS has got there Tamiya shelf back up and fully stocked. Of course this was after I broke down and ordered some of the Primer Online.....from Japan! Oh well.

the real red baron Does your LHS stock tamiya acrylics? If so get XF-71. I'll start the zero when I'm painting my helldiver, because I'm spraying the cockpit with my airbrush instead of hand painting. So it will saves me setting up the airbrush twice.

I have started mine, Im going to do the SBD-1. With my work schedual Im hoping to do a step or two a week. With this build Im also going to start doing my person reviews of the kits I build. I will try to post pictures after each step is done along with a description I made of anything wrong in the instructions and or suggestions I have about it.
WOW! That is incredible!!!! I think the card trick might be good for me. I model in 1/72 and size and scaling is hard, especially in WWI and WWII planes. I actually looked up some of the 1/48 cockpits to get better detail. I also opted for the Dark green interior as this seems to be the consensus on the blogs. I am waiting for the paint on the pit to dry so more pics are coming. Thanks for the input and feedback.
Looking great, I'm so eager to start my Zero!!
STFD: to get more detail from scratch building, you can add some framing on the fuselage sides from thin strips of plastic (I use a playing card). I find that is is really easy to cut and its really thin too! Old gift/credit cards work too, but are much thicker....

Now that I'm here, where am I??
RRB: Thanks. I actually have it in the paint stock. I just want to make sure I have the correct color. I did get some work done today. Fujimi's cockpit is VERY bare (2 seats, consol, and a stick.) Even though most detail will be lost when it is all buttoned up I decided to do some scratch building. I wish there were more references for this plane.
The main additions were the side control boxes, 2 levers for the pilot and some wires to the fusilage sides. I also added some seatbelts made from wine bottle foil. Most of this was guess work and "filler." Feedback is wlecomed as I am really trying to hone my scratch building skills. Thanks!
Hey all,
Before I get really going I need some help. I can not seem to find any definative source, or info, for the interior colors of the Val! I have seen some say that photos show it as being a dark green with black control panels. My Fujimi kit shows the Metalic Blue. If anyone knows the answer I would really appreciate the info!
Funny, I've got stacks of American and Japanese subjects but almost everything is late war. I did find a Pearl Val and Kate but I've got way too many builds going on to commit to this one.
Still I wanted to drop by and wish Baron and the rest of you guys the best of luck!

IT HAS BEGUN!!!!
like I said before, I like the 2nd one!
I rather dig the one with the P40, but the other one is pretty good too. Better than having a screenshot from that awful movie.
I would say it's an attempt to show a light gray green(?)
Other wise known as the "Wasabi" scheme....

And as a surprise attack, here is my boxart. Note the color Doyusha shows on the sidepanel art.
