Rob, I finally ended up snipping them off like my Hotchkiss. The holes are really small. I tried sanding, but it was too difficult and there would be nothing left off the teeth. I'm surprised they didn't include sprockets in the kit. I reduced each length by two links, because I had too much sag.

TD - Nice detail wash on the Roma and the wee little plane looks great!  Did you brush paint the lil guy?

Eric - Disappointing that those MV tracks don't fit the Tamiya sprockets.  I wonder if they are designed for the Italeri/Zvezda Semovente?  Well, despite all the difficulties it seems you've finally got a workable soluton! Now you can get back to completing that fine Italian Job!

Andy lurk away man. Hop in if you have a moment, we still have two months untill it officially ends.

Eric- LOL!  You can be so evil sometimes... I promised myself NOT to sign up for another GB until this fall.  I still haven't finished my own build for my own GB! LOL  But I hope to finish it soon so i can start my second build for same GB since noboby has taken that Pz III Ausf K variant.

So please do not hesitate to let me know when you are ready to host GB in the fall... I am up for it after I catch up that I am lagging behind.  Maybe Big Cats?  North Africa Theater?  British Armor?  So many great choices...

Anthony- I want to marry your ship even it is not finished...

Well for fun or not, I placed 7 links together and they do snap together. in the end I might glue them anyways. I will probably have to file some teeth down or completely off, for these tracks look decent enough. Some, but thankfully not all, will need some serious cleanup.

Geez, good thing I extended the deadline. LOL This should have been done within a month.

So you clean all tracks one by one ?Indifferent?

With the exception of the lower hull and waterline,I brushed the whole ship.

Yes sir. Not as bad as it looks. Fortunately, that was the worst sprue in the lot. Now I just have to paint the tracks. This should be interesting, because they won't be rusted as normal.

Ernest, go back a page and see how big the holes are on the Italeri tracks. MK's are super tiny and I thought about enlarging them, but thought it would look funny.

Andy, I'll have to take your ideas into mind, after all, there are a few things I should be doing that I'm not. Maybe I can fire up a GB around Labor Day. By then, people are done with their vacations and picnics and the such. I kind of want to build my Tiger, so maybe a Cats build might be in order. We could even allow Hellcats and other cat related vehicles such as the Puma armored-car.

I do like the North African GB alot. I tried once before and maybe I didn't promote it enough. I have a bunch of armor that would work. Problem will be, which one? This might be the one I lean to. Could easily open that up to the flyboys as well.

Nameplate, rigging and rails forward of the breakwater are all that's left.Lifeboats as well. However, the Roma didn't typically carry as many boats that are provided in the kit.Too much of a fire hazard. Most don't fit well any way.I may leave most of them off.

Hmmmmm......been doing some flyfishing TD??  That 7X is pretty delicate stuff!  Smallest tippet size I've ever seen is 8X, but never used smaller than 6X myself.

Oh.....great work on the Roma.  The floatplane looks SWEEEEEEET!

I've started my Macchi.

I did a bit of research and painted the cockpit and seat to the closest colour I had available - XF-71. And I painted the seat in AS-12.

Delicate is definately called for.I figured I'd show anybody interested exactly what I'm using for the rigging.

ERIC - Good to hear you found a solution with the tracks / sprocket Yes   The detail in those tracks look great and know all will look great when you getter done.  Look forward to see that bad boy with his shoes on.

TD - Rigging is also looking great and very tedious.

BARON - Nice start !

Ohhhh boy...how did I miss the start of this one? Like Deafpanzer I'm pretty full up with GBs right now, but there must be a way I could crank something out by the end of June, right?

Hmm

Hmmm. 1/48th scale AB41?1/72nd Macchi 205? Trying to come up with something quick getting in late, but how about an Italian SIDAM M113? Link here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SIDAM_25

I'd have to make sure that the conversion I have comes with a proper set of decals...last option would be a Centauro - didn't see it on the list, but if the Ariete flies would this too?

Glad you're thinking about it Dupes. I almost didn't do this GB. I did an announcement in three forums and pulled enough guys to start her up. Mostly aircraft, but that's fine and every build has been interesting.

No biggie. I get so little forum time that when I AM on, I usually just hit the "my forum discussions" link and work from there. Seldom I actually peruse the armor/ac/gb zones.

Will get to poke around in the stash later today - let me see if I can find something. Big Smile

Congrats Ed. I'm sure you're relieved to get her done and be able to put it on the shelf.

I just need to weather the tracks, mount them and maybe a touch more weathering and I'm done. Hope to finish this week. I said that last week. Embarrassed

Ed, that's rocking. I've enjoyed the ride on this one. That'll look good where ever you display it. Thanks for participating in the GB.

Ed - very cool and grats on completing her.  Don't know if you are a champagne drinker, but certainly deserve to crack something open after this one.  Beer

I think one of my favourite photos is the the quarter view from the rear in the first set.  Really looks busy, like a city skyline.

regards,

Jack
