i have three of them to put under my greif (i was covinced that was an he-177 to sink the Roma  ) when i'll finish it !!! probably in 2020 

Hoowee!  Last day of the build!  I'm working all day today on the M-13/40 to finish it up!  Update late this evening!

Its officially July 1......BUT only on the East Coast!   Over here in California its 9:30 PM and still June 30 and I managed to squeek this one in on time!!  YAY!! 

So here you go, one and all.  The COMPLETED Zvezda 1/35 Carro Armato M-13/40.  I rushed the detail painting and weathering quite a bit, but I think it still came out OK.  The only problem was the PE fuel can rack kept breaking off.  I managed to glue it back on, but I didn't want to put the fuel cans in yet for fear of breaing it off again, so for the photos the rack is empty.

After the gloss coat and decals I used Vallejo Matte Varnish, then did some chipping with Vallejo German Black Brown Camo, followed by Sin Industries Brown for Desert Yellow filter.  When dry I used the oil-dot technique to add light colored streaks and mottling, only using Buff and Naples yellow....no dark colors.  That's it...painted the wheels using a mix of Vallejo Black, German Grey and Flat Brown, and finally dusted everying with MIG Pigments Gulf War Sand.

For the Friul tracks I used BLACKEN-IT.  I have a couple of bottles that I picked up a long time ago so I decided to give it a try.  The first attempt wasn't so good (lots of remaining bare metal), but I gave it a second soaking, scrubbing the recess with a very stiff brush and they turned out pretty OK.  Gave it a wash of MIG Gulf War Sand and some buffing with graphite, then used a sanding stick to expose some bare metal on the highpoints.  Looks like the switch to the Friul wire worked as the sag is exactly what I wanted!

Here are a couple of the fuel cans.  I haven't finished the water can yet!  Trying to find small letters for the  "ACQUA"

Eric my friend, thanks for ANOTHER fine Group Build!  I almost didn't join this one, but the Italian theme was irresistible and your GBs are always fun and inspiring!  I'm glad I decided to participate.

Ernest - brilliant work on this one, I really like what you have accomplished here.  

I noticed the tracks appear to have some colour similar to the body of the vehicle.  I have seen this on museum examples and the paint job looks quite old, possibly still original wartime.  Whether or not this was what you intended, it looks great.

Jack - Yeah that little Italian Stallion came out OK, I'm glad you liked it.  As for the tracks, I just gave it a wash of MIG Pigment Gulf War Sand....that's it.  I used the same pigment all over the tank, but dry instead.  I wasn't intending to make it look like an aged tank, guess it just turned out that way!

Eric - To be honest in my rush to complete it I overdid the chipping, but from a normal viewing distance you can't notice! Oh, and I'm glad you liked the Jerry Cans because I finally got them done and on the tank!!  Also, I TOTALLY forgot to put on the antenna in my rush to finish!  DOH!   Its on now!

Jack - Thanks again for posting those pics of the Italian Jerry Cans!!  They provided a great source of inspiration and were very helpful in figuring out how to get them done!

I found some perfect sized letters from the decal sheet of an Academy M7.  They're actually the MFG stamp at the bottom!  The only problem was there was no "Q" or "U".  The "Q" was simple enough to make out of an "O" (which I sort of messed up), but I had to trim and resize an "L" and a "T" (upside down) to make the "U"!!  Innovation at its best I suppose! 

Of course, when fitted in the rack the "U" can't even be seen.......

Back to the tracks, I was referring to a museum photo I had seen in a book - the tank looked pretty rusted and wasn't sure if it was in it's original paint.  The tracks looked similar to your's in that they had paint on them.  I've no idea if the museum did this or was from wartime use.  Something like this:

Ernest, Love the finish and paint effects, glad to see it come in by the wire! The Aqua is a very nice touch, one of those details that gives a build that something extra.

Jack - Hmmm, I see what you're getting at.  Looks like the museum just painted the tracks the same camo pattern as the tank!  My tracks DO bear a strong resemblance to that one in the museum!

Eric - FAR from perfect my friend!  I wonder what would happen if any of us actually builds the "perfect" build??  Would we quit the hobby since we've attained perfection??  Things that make you go...hmmmmm.
