Cool sub Wayne. Ok, we'll accept the 8x8 VRC-105. Whom makes it?

Good work there on the scratched engine bsyamato.

I couldn't get any pictures today., it was much too windy and would have blown my canvas all over the place, so i'll try tomorrow.

Shoot, I hope you're going to hang around T-man...some of us are just getting started!

Came up with a 1/48 Tamiya AB-41. Already cracked into it (am already painting!), just need to get some pics uploaded. Note to potential buyers - it's really an Italeri kit in a Tamiya box, not a Tamiya kit. There's a difference!

T-man - do you always take your pics outside? I can certainly see how that would solve lighting and color balance issues...although weather must be a factor, especially in your neck of the woods? Nice build, btw!

Yes Marc, at least the completed builds. I don't have a photo-booth, nor anywhere to really put one. I'm an amateur at heart. lately i have been editing in iPhoto. That came a world of difference. Wish i had photoshop, but this is actually easier.

Eric, that turned out really swell.  Great job with the hand brushing of the camou, sits well with the scale.  The tracks look the part too.  I can't see anything wrong with it.  Grats on getting her done.

regards,

Jack

Allllllright sir. Cracked into this one not long after my last post...just haven't had time to photoshop/upload pics. So here it is!

Managed to pick this kit up for 4 dollars(!) with the caveat that it had been "slightly started". Not a problem, just some hull work, but the previous owner was very heavy-handed with the putty. Not even sure what type it was to deal with it more effectively, so I gave it as much sanding and smoothing as I could. Here's the kit as I received it -

Didn't take long to finish up the rest of the build once that was taken care of. I have to say that this kit may be in a Tamiya box, but it's definitely an Italeri kit! The fit and precision are not nearly the same.

After a quick spray session with Tamiya acrylics using the kit supplied mixture:

And not long after spraying both camouflage colors using highly thinned Tamiya acrylics:

That's where she is so far. Need to paint the tires a dark gray (far too much contrast), put on both decals, and do all the detail painting before launching into the weathering!

Eric, that came out great, love the camo and paint finish.

Dupes, i built that Italeri kit and it was fun, but you sure built it up quick. My needed a good amount of putty also, as you can see below.

I like the contrasting camo you are putting on, I just went with the simple desert-tan look.

But she finished up very nicely.

Oooooh, great finish! I really liked that scheme with the Italian flags, I was just worried I wouldn't get them to lay down with all of the excess putty everywhere. Maybe on my 1/35th scale one!

Thank you everyone. This has been a very entertaining and informative GB. Beer

Marc, you're just zipping along on your AB. I've never built one of Tamiya's 1/48's before. I've been tempted, but I have just too much 1/35 and well some of it is tiny even in that scale.

Waikong, lovely AB. I really like those national flag insignia's and the weathering.

The actual Tamiya-tooled 1/48th kits are almost without exception little gems...if you get a chance to build one, do! They've started reboxing a couple of other companies' kits to expand this scale - they aren't all up to "Tamiya standard".

It's a repop of the Italeri kit, they have both an AB41 and AB43 in 1/48.

Okay, here's my cr42 in progress. It's been really slow, but at least I don't feel like just a lurker in GB anymore. This is the Italeri kit in 1/48

First the cockpit with Eduard PE

Top paint on and bottom bottom Camo added to wings

Finally, initial camo pattern cut into frisket paper, ready for paint.
