Most of the superstructure is built.

I had a choice of plastic or PE for these stairs.I'm glad I went with the PE.It was tedious, but not as bad as I expected.Definately a better quality PE than others I have worked with.

The PE stairs look great, but it appears you left some PE stubs on them.

I wasn't gonna push my luck. They're barely visible when not enlarged.I'll definately try for a closer shave with the next set.

Easiest way to rid of those stubs on PE is locking it in a hold and fold (special vice made for PE -  the Bug) and taking a fine file to it.  Nevertheless, looking good.

Bsyamato- yes, sorry to hear of the accident on the liner. Amazing photos and luckily they weren't further out to sea.

...

But if they'd been further out to sea, they wouldn't have hit anything! Hmm Still, with 4000+ onboard, they are quite lucky to not have lost any more than they have.

Good point. I laugh (sort of) about how the captain claims he was like 300 yards off shore, when he practically rolled over onto the shore.

Thanx Tigerman, dunno how 300 yards is in meters, but from pictures a man from the hull easy can hit the coast with a spit !! Vance you're right,  was a totally faillure from the captain as the surveys actually says Surprise theres again about 15 missing people from the list. Specialists frogmen from various corps (navy, fire dept etc) is searching in the wreck room by room.

TD these scales looks great YesYes My PE skill is really low and avoid for this reason (and for money Whistling ) to buy PE or others AM parts. but unfortunately in the ships these PE details is the only way to get these micro details. waithing for updates Yes

Those are tools I don't have at the moment.Gotta do everything by hand.Thanks.

bsyamato    The PE was included in the kit.I do have to buy some railings. This isn't as bad as I thought, although that may change.I am enjoying the challenge.

yes, best way for railings Surprise i tried on my yamato 1/450 to detail these things with single brass posts all long the ship hull and after electric wires glued on it to simulate rails... an insane work but at the time these details was not avaible on stores Alien

last night added few details on the veltro but no pictures

TD, as for PE tools, I can highly recommend the Xuron 9180ET  - about $20.  It was developed by Gerald from hawkeye hobbies - he posts on the forum often. These really give you great control, I use them cut the PE off the fret, and the scissors is thin enough to actually trim away the stub. Much easier and faster than filing, which I use to do.

300 meters is around 900 feet, so probably somewhere along the length of the ship, which seems much too close to the shore.

TD, nice recommendation on the Xuron clippers. I usually take a really sharp exacto knife and trim as close as possible, then file down the area with a nail file.

My progress took a bit of a ding the past few nights...general exhaustion combined with my deciding to rewatch Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (best show on television IMO). But last night I got back to it. Outer wings are together, cannons installed, and I'm trying to plan my strategy for the internal wing detail. The challenge is right up against the wingroot, where a big gaping void opens up into the fuselage. I'm thinking of skinning the entire area in thin styrene sheet. Hopefully I'll have something to show on that front soon.

Also finally got the PE gauges installed in the IP. The big ones were a snap, but the little ones in the canted side panels...ugh. They are literally smaller than the head of a toothpick, so just cutting them off the fret was daunting. Finally got them on, though, and I think once I flat coat everything and then hit the gauges with gloss they'll really pop.

Apologies for the crap photo quality - iPhone shooting through my magnifier lamp. When I get it wrapped up I'll shoot it properly with the macro lens.

IP panel looks great Doogs. Those dials must have been a bear to paint.

They were actually really easy, since they were colored PE!

One of the cool things about these Pacific Coast kits is what comes in the box. Resin cockpit, gear bays, wheels. Color PE for the cockpit. Cartograf-printed decals. I wouldn't mind thinner plastic and crisper panel lines, but still - amazing for a limited run kit.

Hi Nathan, excuse me for delay but I 've just finished a Lavochkin La5Fn (posted in Aircraft) and so only today I've started the Cr 42.The right word is "rough" for these kits......so we only can sand sand sand and dry fit testing several times everything........Be carfull to resin pieces....they are very thin........Ciao Enrico.

Surprise. That's one way to do it. I would have thought you had microscopes for eyes.

Sprayed the base. Coverage was so-so. I see a few things to fix. Oh, did I mention there are a lot of wheels?

How nasty are the wing joins on the PCM Fiat? This nasty:

Easily the worst-fitting area on the entire kit. Link-up is too vague and the plastic's just too thick. Thankfully Tenax + putty + sanding should make it invisible once paint goes on.
