Dom, the arch dials are as follows: S6a radio transmitter on top; F5a radio receiver on bottom. I love the tank buster version as well. I just finished reading Hans-Ulrich Rudel's book; boy did he hate the Russkies! A little screwed up philosophically but the guy was a natural born killer. I will one day build his G model.

BTW from what I read the US Senate has seen fit to throw us a parachute, of course the house has still to pull the ripcord!

Dom, even though I understood a mere fraction of what you wrote; I agree 100% This GB strays off-topic more than a drunk on roller skates and that makes it unique; awesome imo. And now for something completely different...... JU-87 update: Working on the super tedious part; masking canopy and splinter pattern prep. I used my Badger airbrush for the first time and love it though there's a learning curve for me. I shot the undersurfaces with RLM 65  lightened with a smidgen of white, maybe 15-20%. Did the same ratio for the RLM71 on top. I used RLM02 for cockpit interior mostly and took some PE stuff from spares box to spice it up. I think it was for a Hasegawa or something but I wasn't too concerned, this is just for fun and to get some airbrushing time. Photos are here for your amusement/enjoyment. Will post more when completed; whenever that is..oh yeah and Happy New Year Y'all!

Yeah Mizer, that is pretty funny, I mentioned to Russ that I wasn't quite drunk, or wearing roller skates...LOL

"Crispy Flip" was code for the "Cliff", aparantly we are all now falling at high speed towards the canyon florr....lol

My wife once said about my kits; 'too bad we can't burn them for heat in the winter,' so I invented a

styrene burning stove for those really, really cold nights...lol.....I'll burn the Monogram stuff first,

please don't tell the Hammer i said so....lol....

Yeah, we get a bit off topic here, maybe it's because we have to acknowledge reality every now and then...lol

Nice Stuka build, I am taking notes. I picked up an old Revell kit, and it has more rivets than a Trumpy.

My favourite '87 is the 'tank killer version', truly a work of art.

Nice control panel you assembled there, what are those big arch dials behind the driver's seat?

Hi Mike M.

"more than a drunk on roller skates".  I laughed for about 5 minutes after reading that!  Too funny!  Big Smile

It looks like you are getting a pretty good handle on your new air brush!  Very impressive!

I needed clear red paint and did not have any on my shelf.  I ordered some but that will not be here until Thursday and I do not want to wait for it.  So I went to the only place in town that carries any model paint (Hobby Lobby) and the only clear red they had in stock was in a rattle can.  I only needed to paint a small handle on a lever for the cockpit.  But using that rattle can after being used to my air brush was a reminder of how much I love my air brush!

Egad, Dom! I don't know what you're drinkin...but keep it to yourself  lol!  Big Smile

Seriously, I feel you're pain. Companies and owners are taking advantage of the current recession to sc*** their employees and there's not much we can do about it.

At least you do still have a job. Hang in there, bud.

I'm not that sure about the differences between the F6F-3 and the F6F-5 but I've got some F6F-3 decals I won't be using as well. Sending you a conversation...

If I had had any decal sheets left, I wouldn't have had to try using them.  I probably should have scanned them before I tried, but my brain is still fried from X-Mas.

I think it was even the subtle pressure of the brush when putting on the film.  They were all dried out and cracked everywhere.  The cracks are what did it.

Bockscar

That's weird, decal film isn't supposed to frag old

decals, but coat them.

I've used decal film over old fragged decals, and they always

held together.

Occasionally, they would still frag if you put them in water,

which I always put down to not putting enough film on

in the first place.

Rich:

Were you spraying acetone on them by mistake????....lol

Dom

Oh Plop!

Aren't you a 15 year old pal........

LOL

Give it up Rich.......

I think scanning and reprinting is the way to go.....

Which means never use a prime decal to experiment with.....LOL......

It's the Otaki F6F-3 kit.  The whole decal sheet was bad.  Like I said before as soon as I brushed the decal film on, it took the decals up and they fell apart.  Next time I am going to put on a coat of glosscote spray first.  That would have kept them from cracking up.  I am not very knowledgeable about the Hellcat, are the differences between the -3 and the -5 very noticeable?

Gamera

Rich: The decal film will hold them together but they'll still have hairline cracks in them. Did you need national insignia or all of the decals? And which model Hellcat? F6F3 or F6F5? And scale? I know I have some extra USN national insignia you're welcome to in 1/48th and might have some numbers etc too, depends on the model- I'll have to look. I know I have some decals for a 1/48th F6F5.

Edit: Just remembered but I have an Eduard F6F3 too, five decal schemes on the sheet. I haven't decided on building 4 or 5 yet but you're welcome to 1-3 if you should want them. Of course I need the stenciling and the prop warning decals but you can have the numbers and I should have some national insignia to go with them. If you're interested I'll post photos.

Well, it's over. It cost more but I brought in one of those services that come to the house. The vet looked her over and agreed she had many health issues. One being the seizures and said that indicated a strong possibility of a brain tumor. She had jaundice (the whites of her eyes were yellow) which indicated liver issues, a heart murmur, and the vomiting and weight loss made her believe she may have had cancer. She felt I was doing the right thing. I just didn't know "doing the right thing" could make you feel so awful.

My friends did call to check on me, and offer support. Both have called me family, and brother. Nice to have as there is so little of my family left. My friend Bill took me down to Village Inn as I hadn't eaten all day.

In any case, she can be with Mom now....

Thank you all for your kind words and support this past year, and if I don't get back here before then, Happy New Year!

Hi Jim,

Try to focus on the great life that you gave her.  I am sure you pampered her for those twelve years she spent with you.  She was a lucky dog to have you.
