On a side note, I went digging through my closet looking for research material for a different project, when I came across an old book I had forgotten about: The Great Warplanes of the 1990's by Bill Yenne. It has some interesting stuff on the Viggen, and I know a few guys here are planning to build one. If anybody is interested, drop me a message!

lol, are you sure you didn't pull that book out of MY closet? I know I have it in there somewhere!!!

Beware the DRAKEN!!!!
Hi Everyone,
I'm finally starting my Hasegawa 1/72 Draken. Hopefully it will be as nice as BSY's. The first job is to shoehorn the Pavla resin bang seat into the cockpit, it doesn't fit of course. I've shaved a bit from here and there and just squeezed it in. The only other aftermarket I plan to use is a masking set, to save some time. This kit is one of Hasegawa's combos, contains two models. I'm unsure whether to do the pretty box top aircraft or a camouflaged Finnish one. I'll work it out as I go.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Made a start on the Draken. I've got most of the parts off the sprues. The Pavla ejection seat is being painted now.
Ohhhhhhh Tony that looks really sharp!
Alrighty, finally this Draken is the first in the queue. I've used the resin seat, which took a lot of trimming before it would fit, but the rest is just as Hasegawa gives you. You really can't see that much when the canopy is closed.
The main construction is done, fits pretty well, but the are a couple of seams to sort out before I proceed.
Progress update. I'll mask the Draken and prime it later today. I took this photo and gave it a bath.
Tony: Looks good! Nicely shows off the clean elegant lines of the Draken.
Loving that Draken Tony!
Thanks guys. It's primed now.
The yellow is down, The progress will slow a bit now as I'll have to let each coat dry thoroughly before masking for the next one. Everything else is done and ready to add to the model in the final stages, except the undercarriage bay doors, which will be sparyed when I spay the underside of the aircraft.
I've included a picture of the box top as a reminder for how it should look.
Just say wow about the Draken Tony fast and fine work.
i like the yellow on the draken
All-yellow is a show-stopper for sure - NICE!!
Wow, fast work on the Draken, Tony! Nice!
Oh yeah! She looks great esp on a colour that's as hard to apply (at least to me) as yellow.
Thanks everyone. Cliff, I agree that yellow is a difficult colour to apply. I've done it on a few racing cars too.
Here's the latest progress. I've masked off the yellow top side colour, and done the gloss black underside. I've also started filling in the colour on the undercarriage bays, but it needs another coat.
Again great work Tony!
On mine i did two layer of final light grey but no picture.. also break in two points the air intakes i hope to fix it
