I love the decal sheet on that B17, reason to get one or two I think. I'll look forward to seeing it.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Looking forward to seeing this odd one built up - have you had a chance to dry-fit anything yet?? Everything looks good, y'know, as far as I can tell from the pics! Think I need to get moving on my J21 again tonight. Hmmmm - may contact you back-channel if you happen to have any "un-needed decals"...

I know, those gorgeous floats are calling to me too, BUT...
I really like the unique look of the B17's landing gear, and I want to do unusual operators of aircraft, so I think I will try to do the Ethiopian version. I've never done NMF before though....
Ohhhhhhhhhh, cool SR! Are you doing the floatie version? When I finally get around to my kit it's screaming FLOATIE at me!

Ok, I think I got the photo thing figured out again, so here goes...
Sorry, Vance. Fighting with the Amiot burned me out for a couple weeks, but I'm making slow progress again. On that note, my Saab 17 showed up the other day! Tried to post pictures, but ever since the last website change, I have a really hard time posting photos. One of these days I'll figure it out again...
Thanks Vance, just need a little time and I'll get over it .
I did do a little work on the Viggen tonight, still for every seam I'm fixing I seem to be finding two more.
Not a thing to be sorry about my reptilian friend! Just checking in to see what everyone is up to. My condolences to the family as well, never easy dealing with a passing.
Sorry Vance but this kit is kicking my butt. After trying to blend together the wing roots and smooth the seam between the wing and the fuselage I had to set the Viggen aside for a month. I picked her up earlier this week and tried to fix the seam between the intakes and the ducts back to the engine. Some people like Von Hammer like fussing with seams but I want to get them done and over with and move on to painting and decaling.
Then Sunday my favorite aunt passed away and frankly I'm feeling rather bummed out, will try to get some photos by the weekend or so.
The summer hasn't been too hot here, especially compared with many other areas. But VERY DRY :(
Hotness keep me at very low workbench buildeng rate hope in lower temperatures this weekend
Lately i discovered that revell have a good draken in 1/72 (probably the reboxed hasegawa) hope to get one to add here ... hope so... too hot here
rtoo speed makes ugly results, too relax don't make results
Last post August 17? Unacceptable!! Anyone have any good "Saab stories" about their builds? Or are we all in summer mode right now?
Sorry bad joke but couldn't help myself!!!
Gamera VanceCrozier But the snow sitting on & around the plane is white... and I know snow!!! Dunno, I've seen yellow snow too. Sorta like white snow but it tastes funny......

awww man!
sub revolution Huh, I dunno, Vance. I always assumed it was white with sunlight on it. Kind of looks too pale to be yellow, but maybe.... Looks nice either way!

Yeah to me the yellow looks too light to be paint, I'd assumed it was the sunlight too.
I have to agree she looks good painted either way too!
I like the finished gripen Theuns
taxtp Is that your Draken Vance ? Looks terrific, where did you get the decals for this scheme ? Cheers Tony

Nope, that one isn't mine, I just spotted the build at Aircraft Resource Center. 1/48 Hasegawa kit, oob decals.

Budd - is that an all-white Viggen with some sunlight on it, or is it the yellow special markings setup? The ID-numbers are the same...
So a while back, somebody (don't remember who!!) asked about schemes for a Draken and I mentioned a photo I had seen with an all white Viggen. Here is the photo, sorry for the poor quality, it's from a book!
It came from this book:
My dad got it for me when he went on a business trip in 2001. I have no idea what it says because it's all in Sweedish, but it's got nice pictures! As for me, after consulting the committee (my wife) I decided on doing a B-17 and ordered the Marivox 1/72 kit. As much as I like the floating or ski version, I'm thinking about doing the Ethiopian AF version just for something different. Thanks, Budd
sub revolution - a Team 60 machine would be quite sharp! I keep thinking I should try to pick up one of those B18 kits.. but can't convince myself to pull the trigger on that much $$ for a 1/72 kit.
Theuns I am not happy with the build but calling it done. BTW ,anyone doing the SAAF sceeme take note the SA flags on the fin should be like mine here, the kit shows them pointing the wrong direction. Humbroll enamels wit Future clear dull coat. Theuns

Whew! Getting caught back up on everything now that I'm finally home. On a side note, my Draken never showed up at the hobby store, so I guess I will have to find something else. Lots of choices of Ebay....
Yamato- there is a set of 1/72 decals for the "yellow bull" for about $15 US. That's not bad.
I also managed to pick up a copy of the above mentioned magazine, after thinking I would miss it! Very good stuff in there.... Now I kind of want to do a "Team 60" aircraft, though I can't find a kit with the markings and I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try it without....
Well, I will let you know how it goes!
Oh and, Theuns- The kit may have been a bear, but it turned out nicely!
Thanks Theuns. I've seen your results and trust your building skills. I'll look elsewhere when it comes time to do a Gripen.
Thanks for the shrink job Vance, might need another kind of shrink to cure this plastic obsession I've developed.
Hi Tony.
The Italeri 1/72 Gripen I did not enjoy atall. For me the $ I paid for it was not worth the poor fit of the parts, It could also just be my that has no idea how to build!
No problem Tony, shrinking your submission right now!
Hi Theuns,
I don't mind your Gripen at all ! I am thinking of getting me one, what did you think of the kit ?
Vance - can you change my entry from a 1/48 Draken to a 1/72 one please, I changed my mind. Still Hasegawa.
