TL: She's coming together very nicely there. The cockpit is really looking good in there.
Doogs: As usual great work, nice looking scheme.
I do have the cockpit for my P-47 done but I've been mostly working on my P-40 for The Real Red Baron's P-40 GB and a Jeep that I grabbed as a quick, cheap, and dirty build. Hopefully I'll get back to the P-47 before too much longer.

i'd like to add RoG's 1/72 scale P-47d, if I may

Building - WAH 64D
Looking very sharp Doogs. Unfortunately my entry in this GB is still down the queue a bit.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
This GB sure has gotten quiet of late...
Some further progress on the P-51. Decals on tonight.
On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2
On Deck: 1/350 HMS Dreadnought
Blog/Completed Builds: doogsmodels.com
Got the stripes and nose painted last night.
Nice work there Doogs! I've never tried streaking that aggressive. I just may have to give it a try!
Hun Hunter update...
With *some* Dark Green in place, I went back and did some aggressive preshading with C2 Black and C15 IJN Green. Ailerons, elevators and rudder were hit with another, lighter green. I think Nakajima interior green maybe.
This was then run over several times with C330 Dark Green shooting through the Iwata HP-C+. And...results!
Overall I'm thrilled with how it came out - really, really loving working with Gunze paints. I think between this and the Dewoitine they've made me a convert.
Next up is masking and shooting the white nose and the recognition bands on the wings and stabilizers.
On the Bench: 1/72 Mono B-36 (...UGH)
Last finished: Revell Space Shuttles Enterprise (On SCA) and Columbia (built both for local aircraft museum)
In the Que:
Spark84 looks good doogs, how did you handle spraying around the radiator intake? I've heard of some folks having issues in that area. -Andy

Thanks everyone for the comments on my build so far.
Those blue diamond mustangs are probably my favorite paint scheme that I've seen. and honestly i wouldn't have known about either had i not looked into the history of that particular squadron. it was merged with the 461st TAC fighter squadron in the 80's in order to give that squadron some WW2 lineage. the 461st now is a flight test squadron at Edwards AFB testing the F-35 (patiently waiting for a decent kit of a production F-35A... are you listing academy?) anyway, saw that scheme and immediately searched for decals, this is when i also discovered that there's decals for pretty much any P-51 you would ever want to build.
Wow! Lots of fun tonight! Started things off by sanding the -B with 8000-grit micromesh, then sprayed some decanted Tamiya TS-12 for the lacquerized wings:Next up - Alclad Airframe Aluminum. I sprayed it over the TS-12 as well to punch it up a bit.Followed by Alclad Aluminum (and Semi-Matte Aluminum on the ailerons and elevators), taking care to be all dodgy around the panel lines. Don't know what the deal was, but the AL was shooting like crap tonight, spitting little chunklets and whistling through the airbrush. Ugh.Next came a buffing with my t-shirt, and I'm calling the NMF job done for now.
Hi Theuns,
I've sprayed Alclad Chrome over a part sprayed with Tamiya Gloss Black fro mthe rattle can. It works fine, just make sure that your black coat is smooth.
Some great work here on the ejection seat and the mustangs. I really like the scheme for 'The Lord is My Shepherd'. Very colorful and one that I wasn't aware of.
That is a stunning bang seat there!
Have any of you guys used the tecnique discribed in "the secret life of Alclad" to use decanted black gloss lacure from a "rattle can" as a base for Alclad 2 ?
The reasoning is that it is also a lacure and the two as I understand works well.
I want to use a different way to get the black on for my Mirage.
Theuns
Spark: That's a beautiful P-51, and really nice work on the cockpit there!
looks to be a really nice colour scheme!!
Hey all, great stuff being built in this group! happy i'm able to join. I started building these two about 6 weeks ago and i didnt take any pictures til now. here's where i'm at with my two mustangs.
assembled, just started some minor filling and sanding.
i used the Eduard zoom set in both cockpits, on the one pictured i added some detail to the battery using heated and stretched spruce. i also did some aluminum dry brushing and a dark grey pastel wash in the cockpits. its hard to see with the model together, but it turned out pretty good.
im useing aeromaster decals, and two different sheets from their blue diamond mustangs line. i am doing "the lord is my sheppard" on one, the other will be "DoDo".
Randy: Thanks for the kind words. The shading is just a function of how much Alclad I sprayed in those areas. It changes depending on the viewing angle.
TL: Holy cow! That seat looks amazing! I don't have the fine motor skills for that.
Mac
TL: Nice work there!! Love the belts!
Talentless that seat is awesome man !!!!!!!!!!. Every bit of work you put into it was well worth it.
EDIT
PS Spark84 PM inbound
Randy So many to build.......So little time

vetteman42 Spark84 your builds are in and listed on the roster. Welcome to the group

Thanks, couple in progs coming soon!
Man I gotta tell ya, you guys are knockin it outta the park for this round and setting the bar very high indeed. The foil and paint work has been outstanding !!!!!!!!
CaptBigMoney your P-38 is one to be proud of man, a nice smooth finish and I really like the shading you managed. The front page has been updated with your finished build, and you will find your group badge there as well.
Kermit what can I say, you never cease to amaze me. You don't often see a Bearcat in NMF and I dont think you could have chosen better markings for it, simple but quite colorful at the same time. I really really like it. I have updated the front page with your finished build and, yes, you got a custom group badge as well. You will find it on the front page.
Doogs glad to see you back from your road trip, and back at the bench I see from the new pictures.
What was gray is now black...
Richard: Super cool! And yeah it is neat to see one not Navy blue (even as much as I love my blue planes).
Theuns & Doogs: Nice work there guys!
Nice Bearcat, Richard! Refreshing to see one that's not sea blue!
Wow I didn't know Academy even made that Bearcat. Looks like a very nice model, I'll have to goolgle it :-)
Tony,
Thanks! This Academy bearcat is fully OOB so yes. The boxart actually shows just this aircraft but it also offers a blue US version.
Richard
