I'm done with my Tornado and here it is.

It's not the greatest build or paint job but it was a good first experience with Vallejo paints.

That is a very sharp and appealing build, Blitz.  Nice job.

So that's pretty much it for USS Wisconsin here.  I've enjoyed the group build, Ms OWL and all the other participants and their contributions.  I'll check in from time to time to keep up with you all's progress.

I appreciate the opportunity to be here.  Thanks for looking.

Thank you, Ms OWL.  I had a hard time taking the pictures, cuz a ship is a whole lot longer than a 1/72 (or even a 1/700) plane.  Couldn't figure out how to keep the front and the back (or should I be nautical and say "fore and aft?") in focus.  I used to know about depth of field with my old 35mm (even took a photography class in college)--but these digital cameras are a mystery.

But. . .I digress.  Please feel free to use whatever photo you like best.

To get the most  of the depth of field, you will likely need to over ride the camera settings and go for manual aperture.   You want at least  f11 or the largest possible number your camera allows, (my DSLR can go to f28).  The larger the number the smaller the lens opening is, but this allows greater depth of field.

Small lens opening though decreases the amount of light, so you need longer exposure time - this in turn requires use of a tripod and a timer button.  Also do not fill in the view finder with the subject.  Best to use large format and crop afterwards with desktop software, this allows more of the subject to be in the focus "field".

regards,

Jack

Blitz, thats a very nice looking Tornado, great job.

OWL looks like the GB is off to a great start. Some really nice looking completed builds on the front page already, and we are only 2 months in. Nice job.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks, Jack.  I'm going to look for that on the camera.  I don't even remember seeing anything like the old ring my Pentax used to have for the f stops.  Maybe it's all done with commands within the menu.

Of course, it might help me if I would read the manual that came with the camera.  Dunce

My!  Thanks, Ms OWL!  Two photos on the front page!  I didn't realize Wisky looked that good.

Thanks again for the group build:  both the concept and the hosting.  Nice job.

Have fun back in school.

BW: Ack, how did I miss that!?! Great job there! Subtle clean paint scheme and you didn't get paint all over the canopy like I do!

As for a next GB, I've been kicking around the idea of an "Ugly Duckling" or "Eye of the Beholder" GB.  The idea being those aircraft/armor that won't win beauty contests: A-10s, F3-Demons, Sea Vixens, FW-189s, A-7s, etc.  It would be subjective as what is a sleak streamlined flying beauty to one might be someone else's flying folly.  Any thoughts?

Also, my Mirage is in the last stages.  Decals on, weathering applied.  Just need to add the various breakables and missiles.  Pics soon.

Something along the lines on an Anti spitfire, or Anti RAF. Anything involved in battle against a spit or the RAF something like that. The other one i was thinking of is an ANZAC GB.

Ok, cool. When i say ANZAC im refering to all Australia NZ Troops. not just Army Corps. So it would include RNZAF, RNZA, RNZN, RAAF, RAA, and RAN. All 3 forces from both countries.

So a "Cobber" Kain Hurricane would be acceptable in such an ANZAC group build?

I would'nt mind cohosting, but I dont know if I'd have anything that fits. I might have to get me a fancy decal sheet.

LOL, words fail me!

Sorry for my lack of progress but this Airfix Viggen is kicking my butt. I've built limited run kits that went together with less problems. Black Eye
