Yeah that's OK. Just don't put the word 'Devastator' beside it.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Maybe there is room for a 'Celestial' GB some time in the future...Shooting Star, Starfighter, Neptune, Meteor, rising sun, Starfire, there must be millions of them.

I'm not sure that I'll continue with this one or change it to something else. I did have some Canadian Silver Shark decals that I had earmarked for this build, the kit decals are a bit too yellow to use given the amount of white that shows.

Leave it for now, I might see what I  can find in the way of aftermarket decals, or else change to a Hurricane or something. Either way, I'll build something for it.

Cheers

Tony

is it alright that I put you down as TBD?

Hi Everyone,

Can I join with a Hasegawa 1/72 T-33 Shooting Star please ? The kit decals are for th Thunderbirds, but I'll probably change it up.

Cheers

Tony

I think we narrowed it down to terrestrial occurrences, so "shooting star" would not fit. But "Thunderbird" would. Wink

Ye, tell me about it. My mum used to have one. I recognised the look. That lifting the lips up into a snarl.

He does suffer from a case of possession aggression, not uncommon among the JRT community.

Is it me, or is your russel getting ready to take your hand off if you so much as try and touch that kit. I think he/she wants to build it instead.

Yeah I was thinking he was guarding your stash too!

I pulled the Viggen out of the box and began shoveling Mr. Surfacer into the zillion and one injection pin holes in the kit. Currently working on about a dozen subjects so I may be going a little slow at first but I am moving at least.

Always a good idea to listen to Mom. Yes

Here's the obligatory photo of the box, with an interested observer.

Right now, I'm studying on the pieces, since ships never seem to go together best in the way the instructions indicate.

Since I don't have any progress to post, here's a link to the Wisconsin River in action, nearly two years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hnqly_0jNY&feature=related

It doesn't do this often.  Four years ago, 2008, at the confluence of the Wisconsin River, Lake Delton, and Dells Creek, near Wisconsin Dells (the famous tourist resort), excessive rain caused the results shown in the link below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JME8XU8rZNI

Quite a force of nature.

Last, a photo of the river taken last week, when things were more placid.

Looking forward to this build.

I built their Corsair, Tony and Thunderbolt back in the 80s. They were very good kits for their day. They were later released by Arii and Airfix. I think tere was about 10 kits in the range.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Bish -- pretty old, these molds were released by Otaki over twenty years ago, and some of them ended up in Airfix boxes in the '90s. They could be 1970s vintage, there's no visible copyright on the materials that I've spotted so far.

You guys must have been in the starting blocks watching the clocks.

Richard, will be nice to se that in Brit markings, and i will be watching to see how you deal with those decals.

Richard, are those Arii kits very old ones or are they still producing. I don't think i have seen one of those before.

Back to barracks today so will be diving straight onto teh chinook.

Richard -- it looks surprisingly good, The cockpit is very basic, but I'll close the canopy as usual, and Arii pioneered expertly done recessed panel lines at convincing scale, lending the chances of a really nice finish. These kits are going for a song these days, I have several Ariis in my stash and have rarely paid more then $7-8  for them on eBay.

I have Academy's F-16C Block 32 and have been hankering to build it, but the decals... The sheet looks terrific, but looks are deceiving, it seems.

Mike,

Yes, the academy decals are notorious i agree and i know all too well. My microsol and set would probably have more effect on half an inch thick sheet steel...

Good news is the fact that i wouldnt have to use anything other than the tiny roundels and unit markings. The white bands could be sprayed on.

Is the Arii kit any good? never had one of that brand on my bench...

Richard -- were you planning to use the Academy decals? I've had bad luck with them lately and don't trust them, so I'd be very interested to see how you go.

For myself, the Raiden is getting underway, here's the box art:

I hope to be showing you some painted subassemblies very soon -- engine and cockpit, then it's downhill to the finish as this is a very simple kit which nonetheless lends itself to some careful paintwork, which should look good.

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Well,... July 1st has arrived here in Europe so i guess i can open up my little box of goodies hereStick out tongue

My (first) build as stated is the Academy P47D in 1/72 scale:

Opening up the box and taking a look at the sprues i find a nicely engraved, clean molding:

It even offers rocket launcher tubes, two props and two kinds of drop tanks. Only real bummer sofar that i noticed is a rather crude engine..:

The finishes offered are the boxart american jug and a british one in green and grey camouflage. Interesting thing to note is the fact that Revell of Germany's P47 in the same scale offers you markings for a plane of the same (US) unit as the Academy offering. Maybe cool to do a tandem build or airfield dio...

Having built RoG's "Balls Out" several times i am leaning towards that neat british camo... Sometin' else for a change... Geeked

Hope you guys like my introductory babble and hope to post some action shots soonYes

hey bish

me too. i have 3 smaller kits to finish up (mechanical mule as a forest service fire fighter, MTM BARCHINO and MD-500) and that will clear 2 tables. ME-264 is on 3rd table and i should finish the engine nacelles and start on the cockpit on thur.

i am in an arab-israeli war mood. will be doing a SHO'T KAL from the barak (lightening) bde on the golan heights. in my stash i have ZSU-3/4, SAM-6, T-62 all can be done as syrian, SAM-2 launcher, SAM-2 transporter, SCUD as egyptian and CENTURION MK 3, TIRAN-5 and jeep mounted 106mm RR for israel. may build 2 tanks simultaneously.

 CallSignOWL:

does anyone have an idea for a GB badge?

Here's my photo-idea:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/HansvonHammer/Tornadonight.jpg

woah! Is that a real photo?! If so that's one heck of a shot!

I dunno, but I'd bet on Photoshop...

Speaking of which, I don't have it.. But if some else does, they could super-impose a nasty-looking shot of either a Thunderbolt, Lightning, oo Tornado on it, please?

But it's gotta look good on a pic of THIS size..
