I stopped getting it after the shot made me worse than the flu ever did. The only thing that concerns me is im asthmatic. So if it gets too bad im off to the hospital.

The flu shot is the one thing in the world that I seem to have an allergy too. About 8 hours after getting the shot, I get extreme gastro symptoms that last for up to 48 hours.
Took me three experiences before I made the connection...
Cheers

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
Unfortunately, I am on over a dozen medications for everything from Diabetes, Heart Issues, Dizzyness and Syncopy, Cholesterol, to pain management. A lot of these mess with the immune system, so if I don't get the shot, I can end up in the hospital. As it is, I'll probably be sick for a week or more.
Scorpiomikey Ouch, its funny how sometimes the vaccine makes you worse than the actual condition and may or may not get lol. Thats why i stopped getting the flu shot, id get it and be laid up in bed for a week or more.

In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,
On the Tarmac: F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.
Sorry I haven't been on much, I had to get two shots (flu shot and one for pneumonia) and now I am sick as a dog, so I haven't gotten much done on either kit. I'll send up some images once I get over this and have some progress to report.

no problem!!

I hate those desk models. I just think they look kind of cheesy. I managed to get some WIPs toonight. My camera has been acting up, so I am not always able to get usable ones. Here we go...
Basic fuselage assembly. This is where it all started to go south on me.
I took this before I completed bracing up the wings. This kit is one of those ones where they seem to have made things unnecessarily overcomplicated. Not including the fuselage stubs, each wing is made of 7 pieces. The Alerons are made up of two separate alerons which are further divided into 2 pieces each. The front Slats are made of 2 pieces as well. I don't know why they did it this way since you can't lower the control surfaces without messing up the hinges they give you. I should also note that you have to overcompless the fuselage sides to get the wing pieces to line up. Thats why all the clamps in the next image.
Here is the completed fuselage and wing assembly. I'll let it dry for at least 24 hours before I do any more work on it.
This is a slightly closer view of the cockpit. Notice the humongous gap behind the back office... That's part of the fit problem. I am going to figure out a way to seal it up before I put the canopy on, and I just hope the seats don't hit the canopy, or I may have to take your advice on painting the canopy glass.
That's about all I got done tonight, tomorrow I start the little bits and pieces that give it all the detail, anb I close up the landing gear bays. Wish me luck
Scorpiomikey Good news sparrow, the other option is to paint the inside of the canopy silver or blue. Turn it into one of those desk models. You have the decals on file now, so you can redo them again later on a better kit.

Well, I think I will be able to salvage the FA/18 from Hobby Boss, although only wheels up. I guess I should put the pilot in. I can't get the front landing gear bay insides to line up, so it's wheels up.. I don't want to risk killing it to try and move it since the nose is already sealed up around it. I have a very small amount of gap filling to do, then maybe a few days to paint. Those decals are going to take a while to do right.
Gotta agree with the ultimate ground machine statement there. That is a very nice looking M113 there Stikpusher. Tanks are just awesome.
This is what I got on ebay a couple of days ago.

I can't wait until it arrives.

Yeah but once you have driven a tracked AFV, you really get hooked on them.... the ultimate ground machine.

Ha, i cant stand them. Im not an army boy. Unless it flies it doesnt usually interest me much. And having one parked at the end of my street for a week kinda made me hate them more.
We move in this week to the new flat. I should be set up in the next couple weeks. To scratch my aviation itch at the moment ive been playing battle stations pacific. Its a fair bit of fun.
Now that does look cool Mikey... but I like Centurions more than LAVs
I am glad that you like it CMK!
Good looking M113, Stik. Excellent weathering effect. Looks really dry and dusty.
Could always do a Kiwi LAV?
Thank you. Now I need an AFV Aussie Centurion and Academy Aussie 113 for its' Vietnam stable mates.
Very cool. Thanks heaps for sharing Stik. Youve done an awesome job on that.
Well folks I just went thru and had a look at all the progress here so far. Sparrow, that F4U is a beauty! I really like your work on the cockpit on that build.
I have an Aussie subject that I just completed to share here. But I can't claim it as part of this GB seeing how I started building it over 4 years ago and it sat about 80 done for the past several years for no good real reason. But since this is for all things ANZAC and this particular vehicle is only Aussie I figures I would share a peek here. Tamiya's 1/35 M113 Fire Support Vehicle. Australian Armoured Forces in the Vietnam War modified several basic M113 APCs by adding a Saladin Armored Car turret with it's 76mm gun.
thanks for looking
Lol Vance. Yeh. I do that sometimes too. I've got the nasty Revell Blue Angel mostly assembled. The Future just got drying on the cockpit so I can now mask it and install it. Then prep for paint. I really wish this kit had a wheels up option. The landing gear is sooo weak. I'm going to "try" to salvage the Hobby Boss kit, whichever one comes out best will be the guinea pig for the 20th. Anniversary decals. I can't get another kit. Heck, I can't even buy glue for a while, or even paint. We just had to put our bank account into new Calipers and Tie Rods for our minivan. There went the holidays, our anniversary and xmas for the bunch of us, so model stuff is definitely out. I think I have enough supplies laid in to last through next spring if I recycle tape and such. lol One of them should come out good. The Revell is going to need a lot of smoothing and sanding as well. Once these two are done, I am finishing my British FGR.2 for another build and then I am going to do something different. Not sure what yet, but something different.
(P.S. I have taken images of tthe Revell, and I will send them up as soon as I get a good amount together. and have the time to clean them up and resize them.)
~lurking!!~
On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister
Thanks for the surfsup.
For those interested in Ran or the New Zealand Navy, here are a couple of choices for you.......
Perry Class in 1-350 from Academy
Charles F Adams in 1-700 from Dragon and 1-350 from White Ensign
Hmas Canberra or Hmas Australia from NNT
Current Anzac Class Missle Frigates from Fleetline Models Australia

Anyone interested in a 1/48 Revell Blue Angel F-18 kit? I'm going to put it on eBay unless someone here wants first grabs at it.
Oh dude, that sucks. Never built hobby boss. Always looked at the boxes and though "um, yeah, nah, not today" (Another kiwi term, yeah nah lol) PM me about your F-18. Might think about doing one myself.
Dang... Has anyone else ever done one of these Hobby Boss kits? This one is a nightmare... I haven't been able to get one sub-assembly to go together without having to practically hammer them into position. When I installed the lower front landing gear assembly it was a full 1/8 inch off and I had to do major surgery to get it to fit in properly. Then more surgery to get the nose to go on without bumping into the landing gear pod. I won't even go into what the engine assemblies are doing. One of them was so bad it popped out at some point while the glue was drying, even with tape and clamps, and split open on the long seam. The glue set before I noticed it had come undone and now it's going to be a mess to fix... If I can at all. I got frustrated and made a trip to our storage. It took me over an hour, but I found my 2 Revell Blue Angel F-18 kits.. I'm going to build one and sell the other to try and get some of what I wasted on this kit back. At least I know what demons lurk inside that kit. I don't have any more money to waste on more replacements for this one.
I thought the exterior of the 1/72 hornet wasn't too bad, but that cockpit was just terrible and the worst thing about it was you couldn't even replace it without fairly major surgery because it was moulded as a part of the upper fuselage.
Thanks Helo. The cockpit is almost ready for final assembly. I just have to do some detail cleanup, then install the forward joystick and the seats. Then it's on to bigger and less frustrating things. lol
