I'd guess you were bidding against a collector or two. I'd have stopped bidding too, Joe.

Clemens, would you let us know how things go with The Plane Detective order and also with the Scale Master decals if you think about it? IMO you made the wise choice trying the Scale Master decals.

Nice job on getting those flaps installed, Greg! I'm pretty sure they are cooling flaps like on the Thunderbolt, just a different configuration... I'll tell you about the order as soon as it arrives here, but it's gonna take a while (coming form the States all the way to Austria).

Joe: I'd have stopped bidding as well. Some people have just way too much money to spend on things like those books... Having good references is great, but it sure as hell aint worth a price like that to me...

Thanks for commenting, Bish and Clemens.

Just occurred to me that on the twins I used to fly, they were called cowl flaps, and I could open and close them. So since these are just aft of the engine cowling, guess they would be either cowl flaps or exhaust flaps. No idea if they were operable, but guessing they were fixed position.

At any rate they were fun to install after getting the hang of it.

Those flaps are actually able to open and close, jsut like cowl flaps (see my earlier post), but simply not mounted on the cowling but further back Wink

Whoa Ho, Very nicely done Greg. Those look great. You must be gifted with very steady hands. I struggle to get small PE part on straight.

Thanks bro Joe. After fussing about these for too long, I mostly got lucky!

Weeks of fussing, minutes of installation. you know how it goes.

I have the build pics sry I couldent post along the wayi sent my finish pics to mustang he should be throwing them up before long. on my last photos of todays shoot I broke the airial of the tail so I need to figure out that fix it was pulled tight so no room to pull and glue probably drill it out the canopy and do a new one.  BUMMER

First off Jerry let me tell you that I'm really glad you joined the GB here. I'm sorry youre having trouble posting pics but am confident that you'll get everything straightened out in the future. For a guy who's had a house that burned down and for that same guy to press forward to not only complete a build but to have the "moving forward " attitude instead of staying stuck in one's troubles attitude reflects greatly on you. Its my hope, and I think I'm speaking for the majority here, and our hope that good things are coming your way and that you get back to a normal state of life soon. Youre standing out as one of the greats here not only in your build but in your commitment to getting things done, whether it be model building or pressing onwards. I'm certainly looking forward to having you in "The GB ahead".Big Smile . It is truly my honor to post your completed pics for you.

Hat's off to you Jerry, you're the man,

  A quote from Blackdog:

"howdy mustang thank you again.after my house fire and everything that comes with it im finally finished with it.I really enjoyed the GB I had so much fun resurching the 190 I added several more to the stash and even invested in the dora book volum 2 by jerry crandal cant wait to pic up vol. 1 cant wait to dive into another GB  the bf-109 GB sounds fun.

I would like to mention a thanks to all the builders in this GB they are all a bunch of wonderful modlers.
for my pick for the honor wall I would like to pic the side shot with the air scoop.i think its the best pic for the TA-152 I think"

I'll have your completed pic on the "Completed Builds" section later today.

I absolutely could not agree more with this.

BD, big gold star from me for pressing on, as Joe so aptly put it.

You bird looks great, man. Really like the scheme and your handling of same. The subtle weathering around the cowl area is just one thing that stands out to me. This is going to be a great addition to the wall of fame.

And thanks for the nice comments about my previous post.

BD...

Great finish! And yes the 190 and the 109 will getch ya! I have more Fockes and Messies in my stash then all other kits combined, and love building them more then any thing else, not to say that I wont build any other, but just cant wait for GBs featuring the 109-190s.

Man, hope your woes are lessening, and dont know what we could do, but if I for one can help somehow, feel free...

BD, I completely agree with everything Joe mentioned! My hat's off to you! That 152 looks great! The camo scheme is really interesting and your execution leaves nothing to be desired! I especially like the weathering!

Well I WAS going to post an update on my 190s, but it seems like PhotoBucket doesn't like the idea of me posting pictures. I'll try to figure this mess out and post said update as soon as I got PB fixed...

Thank you all the very kind words.

I wanted to make this TA-152 look Moore like it may have in its early days of testing so I didn't go as heavy on the weathering as the last 190-d that was at wars end.

Schattanspartan.    I finally got my Tec issues fixed to only have my photobucket no want to post my pics also.  Hmmmm hopefully they will fix it.

BD, You have turned out a remarkable example of modeling in your 152. Very excellent work especially under your unfortunate circumstances. I for one have complete admiration for your perseverance in the face of misfortune. Not only did you get right back to your modeling you rose to the occasion with some miraculous workmanship. I truly wish you and your family the very best and that you all will bounce back in remarkable fashion. It has been my pleasure to make your acquaintance and to bear witness to your excellent skills.

 Godspeed, Joe

Yeah, there are 9 of them on my bench (getting a bit crowded). I'm not that pleased with how the A-8/R2 looks so far, especially in the cockpit so the canopy will be closed. That one is the kit I used to find any flaws and tricky steps in the build process because it came out of the mold with a bit of damage (a hole in one of the wings, wings and fuselage warped) I want to build her too though, so I'm hanging in there and simply closing all hatches and the canopy.

An Eduard ProfiPack with these flaws? Really?

BTW, it just occurred to me now that BD has finished his cool-looking Fw, that leaves me, Mike, and Clemens.
