Fw 190 Butcher Bird 2013 (extended to June 2014) Group Build
Posted by mustang1989 on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 10:38 AM

Hello and welcome to the 2013 to 2014 Fw 190 "Butcher Bird"  Group Build. The build will start on 1 January 2013 and end on 2 January 2014. There were a number of folks in the Bf109 Gruppe Build talking about this and then an idea became a feeler. Before we knew it more people became interested and here we are with this. I've gotta say I've been looking forward to building a 190 for a few years now and now's the chance. This is my first time doing anything like this.  I'm not going to be perfect but the idea is to have fun so I will do the absolute best I can.

This group build has now been officially extended for another 6 months due to all the great participation. The new end date is now 02 June 14. Let the good times continue to roll!!

    The guidelines are as follows:

    1) Any scale, any Fw 190 variant to include Ta 152's.

     2) Any aftermarket items or no aftermarket items.

     3) Crossovers are welcome.

     4) Started builds are fine but please limit construction at the fuselage halves glued together.

     5) You can enter any time within the group build time frame.

     6) Please post pictures of works in progress.

     7) Be social, encouraging and have fun.

The badge for the group build is being put together and will be available thanks to Ninetalis.

So with that it appears that we are set to have an enjoyable build here. Will be seeing you, Joe

Ok folks. I've got a list of participants and their builds. If I forget something or get something wrong just let me know and I'll get it straightened right out.

I might be up for this GB with a Pacific Coast Models FW190 A-1/A-2/A-3 in 1/32....  I'll have to see what else I have on the dance card for next year before I fully commit.

Cool. I've been looking forward to seeing you in this GB. Did you ever acquire a 1/24 scale Bf109 Trumpeter kit?

Cheers,

Haha, Thanks for the confidence guys!
I hope that I don't need to change another badge again.
Designing a badge is fun, redesigning a badge SUCKS *SS!!

Just for the reconfirming Mustang, I'm in with a 'something in 1/48', very sure it will be an A-8.
So put me down for an Fw 190 A-8 in 1/48 and my girlfriend with a
Eggplane Fw-190A from Hasegawa. (you can put her under my name)
I have been thinking a while to build a captured FW190 since it's VERY orange and not a difficult camo that is above my level, I've seen them decals around on some convensions and I'm going to the IPMS Belgium one this weekend, which is supposed to be one of the biggest ones around here.

Still don't know which kit, it will probable be the Tamiya, Italeri or Eduard FW 190 A-8.
With regards, Ninetalis.

Professor, looking at the two PCM kits in the stash...  they look to be really nice, fun kits with all the goodies thrown in- think Eduard's ProfiPack or Royal Class boxings.   PE is by Eduard, decals by Cartograph, and the resin and plastic is done in the Czech Rep., so I'm guessing Eduard as well.  The molding, detail and engraving on the plastic parts is good and restrained, rivet-wise it looks like a Hasegawa sprue as opposed to Trumpeter or Tamiya.

They look to be worth the extra $$, especially the Macchi C.202. if you can find one.

Ninetalis- awesome work on the badges!

I'm in. Not sure with what yet. Outside of the P-47, the 190 is probably the best-represented subject in my stash (1 1/48 Hasegawa A-8, 3 1/48 Eduards, 2 1/32 Hasegawas and a Hobby Boss Ta 152...).

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

That badge is too pretty not to join up.  I may be biting off more than I can chew with all thse GB's but by start time I should have most of the others done.

Count me in for the Eduard D9 Dora Profipack.  The nice newish one.  I only have the interior started and nothing else.  I lost the control stick to the hardwood floor monster(my desk is a mess and so is the floor around it), shouldn't be too hard ot scratch/kitbash one together.

Joe, I'll be a puttin' together a 1/72 Hasegawa FW190F-8. I have PE seatbelts already and a sweet AM decal sheet enroute. Thanks for getting this going Joe as I'm breaking ground on Luftwaffe aircraft here. Something that is long overdue for me.

Got it! I'm building an Eduard too. It looks challenging but I hear that their website helps alleviate some of the construction problems.
