Nice new office you have there Mike. Thanks for sharing that. I like to see other modelers workspaces. All you need now is abundant clutter to give it that "lived in" look.

This is how it is so far, still moving some things around for ease of access/comfort purposes. The white fan is actually a space heater and does a darn nice job given it's small size.

Good to hear Mike. You reminded me that I need to pay some attention to mine. Any chance we might get some pics of the new bench?
I'm back and I finally got my new bench built. Good to see I still have til June since I wanna wrap up my M1A1 which is about 45% complete before I whip this one out.
I seem to recall kits in the sort of plastic you mention. That cockpit is going to be tricky, even with the canopy open, you can see a good deal inside.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
Here's some test fit pics of the ole Draken in test fit form. I already removed a good bit of the flash and applied some sanding but much is left to do. You'll notice the cockpit (or the complete lack thereof) and it's vast emptiness. Haven't fuuly decided how I'm going to handle that just yet.
I have been doing some preliminary sanding on the Draken, of which there is a lot of, and quickly made an interesting discovery. That Revell in the 70's did not mold there kits out of styrene but rather out of what I can best describe is Bakelite. My Gawd, this is the hardest stuff imaginable. I could us the fuselage halves as ashtrays with no damage to them. Ok, I may be overdramatizing this a bit yet the fact remains that this is indeed the hardest stuff I recall ever working with. Oh well, nothing an 80 grit sanding stick can't overcome. That is all. carry on.
Joe Yea that would take awhile. iIf they had these ciggerettes then they wouldn't have have won the war. They wouldn't have had time to fight the Germans. LOL
Mustang: Thanks for the encouraging words. I got a ways to go on it as its a work in progress.

greentracker98 The cig is for scale; thats my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
The cig is for scale; thats my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
Glad you clarified that because if you were actually using the P-38 to show the scale of your cigarettes I'd have to ask: Good Gawd! How long does it take you smoke one them big suckers?
Hey greentracker. I built this kit when I was younger and it seems like looking back it did have a few seam problems, but hey even the best kits have their fit issues sometimes and if its not fit problems its something else like ejector pin marks or something. Thats model building for you though. Good job and good progress!

Wow Handi, I too wish I could compare mine to the one I built many many many years ago. Looking good, and If I didnt say it before, thanks for the pics. Their proving really useful. I wish I would have had the pics when I was growing up, then I didn't know about the mistakes the model companies made on the kits.
I had some trouble getting things to line up on the P-38. Is this normal?
Just wondering. But I'll get it. I did some more work on it last night with putty and finger nail polish remover and corrected some of the seam problems.
Scorpio, i dn't recall the kit in question, but i know Airfix does these and i think i remember Revell doing them as well.
Does anyone else remember the all in one kits of the p-38? Cant remember if it was revell or not. But it came with 4 or 5 pots of paint, a brush and a thing of glue. I must have built 3 or 4 of those.

Hey sub revolution, I found a color chart for the bird. Sent message.
Mike
LOL Joe, Glad you reminded me
Looking good there Greentracker. I do hope the cig is for scale and that you don't light up in the paint room.
Hi everyone,
The P-38 is just about ready for the paint shop. After i get the canopy on it and a couple of other things, it will go in.
Thats a cool lookin ship Brent! I havent built a ship since I was in the teens. I've got my hands full with aircraft so I aint gonna dabble in ships. Talk about intracate detail sensory overload for me!!! Nice job again, Joe
Bish, I'm going to build it pretty much as is. That is unless I get the gumption to scratch build up at least a cockpit tub. Otherwise it will be a vast emptiness in there.
I reckon that kit dates from around the same time as mine. Are you adding any extras or just building as is.
OK, that's weird. My copy and paste from photobucket created a link rather than an actual pic. Let's try this again shall we.
Stunning ship Handiabled. Very nicely detailed.
Here a quick shot of my little project:

Hey Guy's ,,, great work !!! My project is all done and Moe is back on the bench,, since I am a couple hours away from delivery I can show you why I was gone ,, USS DEYO
More to come ,, Thanks for lookin!!
Hey There Folks, Well, the my vintage Revell 1/72 Draken arrived today. It's pretty much what I expected except for one amazing thing, this old kit actually has engraved panel lines and rivets. Neato! Other than that she's the raw deal. No cockpit detail except for a seated pilot that glues to the bottom half of the fuselage. I will see if I can fit the cokpit tub in there from the newer Draken kit I have. And then of course there is the more than abundant amount of flash to clean up. But, regardless it's the very kit I built as a young raw modeler. I will get some prelim pics on here right directly.
Bish, I haven't taken any pics yet, but i will tonight. Look for them in the auto section later tonight.
Thanks
Ken Worth
Looking forward to seeing it green. You got any pics of the truck.
I finished the pick up. Mine wasn't the best, but I think it turned pretty nice I was the only one to put chrome running boards on it, and put the sun roof in it. Now, they decided to do a group build on what you got for Christmas LOL So, it's up up and away with the P 38 LOL
