Here's what I got done today.

Sprayed the chrome using Alclad II. Once the clear coat dries for a couple of days I can finish up the trim stuff. :)

Got the wheels and tires put together and mounted. I didn't like the box rear tires so I replaced them.

And I got the drivetrain and wheel mounted along with the engine. I still have a little work to do on the exhaust. I'm going to make some chrome extensions cut on a 45 degree angle.

Thanks for looking,

Eric

Hi EW,

The engine looks great on the chassis. The Alclad II Chrome is a massive improvement on kit chrome, isn't it ?

Cheers

Tony

Thanks Tony.

Now that I have figured out how Alclad works I will never use kit chrome again hehehehe.

Here's what I got done tonight.

Got the SS stripes on, and after they dried, I sprayed the final coat of clear to seal them in.

Got the interior done.

Started on the custom exhaust.

Thanks for looking,

Eric.

Thanks Glenn.

I wanted to try running the plug wires on this one, but I don't have a drill bit small enough yet. Hopefully on the next one. :)

The SS stripes look perfect Eric. Nice work. Will be pleased to see this one done, I think it will be stunning.

Thanks Tony.

I finished it tonight. I think it came out good. The only thing is since the color is light the chrome trim doesn't show up that well.

Tony,

You can use this one as the completed photo.

Thanks for looking.

Eric.

Yeah it looks fantastic Eric. Man, that thing has some rubber across the back there. The metallic paint looks great too. I've updated the build roster. Awesome work Eric, congrats on it.

Great job on the Chevelle! I like the wheel choice, not many kits are built with those.

Thanks Glenn.

The kit actually comes with two sets, one with the deep rear ones and one for standard tires.

I think the quality of your builds is very consistent too EW, they all looked great when I looked over them on the build roster. I'm looking forward to the next one now :)

Thanks Tony.

I have 3 more I would like to add. I think I can finish them before the end of December.  The General Lee doesn't seem to have a lot of parts so it's next. :) Already washed and the chrome is stripping for tomorrow hehehehe

A REVELL 67 Corvette convertible:

An AMT 1969 Hurst Olds;

And a MPC General Lee Dodge Charger:

That's impressive EW. I have the Hurst Olds in my stash in an earlier boxing, and had the General Lee for some time when it was rare, before helping out a friend with it.

I'll tell you my miserable Corvette story. In 1993, I decided that it would be good on the 40th anniversary of the Corvette, to build a 1953, 63, 73, 83 and 93 Corvette. I started the AMT 53, but it was misformed and I never completed it. Nor did the project go any further. 20 years later, no progress, zilch, nix. Ha ha.

I've added your kits to the build roster. I'm looking forward to this.

Cheers

Thanks Tony hehehe.

I think that would be a great idea for you to start another Group Build after this one is over. Corvettes. (not to exclude the ford guys, maybe Corvettes and thunderbirds)  :)

I started on the Charger. I decided not to do the General Lee paint scheme. I'm painting it flat black and putting some fat tires on the back hehehehe.

I like the idea Eric, shorter duration though. What about  'Vettes and 'Stangs for 4 months from 1 January ?

I like both.

Tony,

That sounds good. I'm definitely in. :) I've been wanting to build a '70 Boss 302' (the only ford I will ever admit to wanting to own hehehe).

Also, the Charger is coming along. I'll post pics later.

I built that thing a few years back along with a 70 Boss 429, a 69 Mach 1 with a Super Cobra Jet and a '66. The Monogram Boss kits are nice and I'm thinking '70 Mach 1 in Grabber Green this time around. I think that and the Monogram '53 Corvette will get me started. I'd love to get ten or more builds into the GB in a four month period, would be really good.

I agree on the Monogram kits. They always seem to be well molded. AMT has a lot of choices but it's hit or miss, at least in my experience. I still buy them though since they have a large selection. 10 builds in 4 months?? I'll take that challenge hehehehe. I already have a 10x14 Doghouse. :)

Good on you for taking the challenge Eric, I was thinking ten builds from all entrants, so we have some concurrent building going on.

I could almost start now.

HAHAHAHAHA,

Man, did I misread that or what. Ten apiece in 4 months is a bit much I suppose. I got to get me some new glasses hehehehehehe.

Here's some progress on the Charger.

I am a little disappointed in this kit.The molding on some of the parts is bad and they don't fit together well without a little persuasion.

I've got the rear tires fitting under without rubbing the fenders now. I'm using the spare set of rims that came with the 70 Chevelle. The rims that came with this kit are solid when they should be open around the spokes. They look like CACA hehehe. Never mind the paint. I still have to wet sand this coat and spray it again. :)

Here's a shot of the original tire vs the new

Trimmed the backing plate shafts to get them to fit. Now they are straight and flat :)

Eric

That looks like a lot of work Eric. It'll be worth it in the end. I like to see these tough ones come about.

Thanks Tony.

Haven't been able to do a lot due to work and other things. I had to strip the first paint job due to a failed experiment hehehehe. Nope no pictures! I will say it was a mess.

It's been primed and repainted so I can spray the clear on it tomorrow. I will post some more pics later this week.

Thanks Eric, I've achieved nothing with my car builds since last time, it's the problem with having too many concurrent builds.

I am still very keen on the Corvettes and Mustang GB, I think I'll post in the automobiles section to gauge interest.

Hi all,

Here are a few shots of what I got done over the last couple of days. Also have most of the engine done and the interior done. This kit doesn't have a lot of detail in it which is disappointing.

I had to strip the paint and redo it. Here it is in primer doing a test fit to make sure things are clearing. Broken window post has been fixed :) Got a little to aggressive with the steel wool stripping the paint hehehe.

Front bumper is rechromed. The rear one has some waves in the gloss black so I need to redo it.

Repainted and clear-coated. I used Matte clear this time. :)

These are not for the Charger. I found these on Ebay. Fun Fun Fun hehehehe.

Later,

Eric.

Tony,

I hate to ask, but can you take the 67 Vette out of my list on this one? I want to save it for the Vette and Mustang group build. I will still have 5 to finish on this one. Now I have to decide if I want to do a 67 Mustang or the 70 Boss.. Decisions decisions hehehehe.

Thanks.

EW, I wish I could crank the kits out like you do!  I only have two to finish for this GB and have not gotten far, too many things going on.  You guys can count me in on the vette/mustang build, sounds like fun and I have a couple Vettes I wanna smear gloo on!  Nice work, Wheeler.  Rommel

Nothing ever fits……..and when it does, its the wrong scale.

To make mistakes is human.  To blame it on someone else shows management potential.
