I think after I get some of these current projects done I would like to build one. :)

Here's a few progress pictures on the Bel Air.

It's painted, although I dropped it and broke the front and rear hood post. Didn't realize it until I was looking at this picture. Oh well :). After I fix them I still have to buff the paint with a paper towel and then shoot the clear coat.

Here's some of the chrome after it was redone. I'm happy with these wheels. They are a spare set from the 67 vette.

And here's the front bumper. (The spots are the reflection from the flash in the Alclad).

I think I may get this one done by the end of the weekend. We have a couple of days of rain coming up so no honey do's hehehehe.

Here is a few more progress shots.

I sprayed the clear today. Now just need to let it dry for a couple days. I also made the repairs to the broken posts. There is still a minute line where the cracks were but I think after I paint the trim around the windows most of will be covered. This paint is actually rattle can paint. It's Rustoleum Cobalt Blue Metallic.

The engine is almost done. I broke 3 drill bits into the distributor so I'm not wiring this one hehehehe. I'll give it another go on the next one.

Got the wheels mounted to the chassis. I like these vette wheels. :)

Started putting the interior together. I did notice I forgot to paint the gas pedal. Ooops. :)

Got some more of the undercarriage done.

Sorry I missed your post Eric, it looks really good. The Cobalt Blue is spectacular. Is it completed yet ? If those are Corvette wheels ,then what are you going to use on the Corvette ?

Hey Tony....I finally finished the Mini!  I did a small background for the presentation to my wife.  It is a birthday present for her.  As I said before, she loves all things British (lots of family history there), so I wanted to do something a little special.  So, with the help of my awesome friend Bish, I got some really great pics of some local scenery there in the UK!  Thank you so much Bish!  I made a little display for the Mini, and she was floored!  Made her day (and mine).  I'm still using my phones camera, so there are a lot of glare spots, but you get the picture (pun intended!).  So without further ado, may I submit my entry to the Automotive GB!  THE MINI COOPER!

Remember, it's my first automobile build!

Great job Eagle, I really like it and the photos have worked a treat. It's a great effort for your first car.

Thank you Alan!  Is your kit the Airfix one also?  The one quirky thing about this kit (#A50126, the Twin Pack) was the tires.  No treads at all on them.  Racing slicks?  It's a Mini Cooper!  Anyway, other than that it was a great build and my first automotive kit was fun!  I think I'll be getting a couple of more vehicles for the stash!  Thanks again!

I still have a few things to do on it. I'm going to spend some time on it tomorrow. The vette also came with a set of minilites that I'm going to use on it.

Yes it is the Airfix Mini Cooper S kit but the one with 1 car not 2 and this is my first auto too.  I didn't notice the tires, but you are correct, no treads. :(  I guess this isn't all that bad considering there is a seam running down the middle; however,  is there somewhere I can get replacement tires?

I'll have a look Alan,  I want some too.

Yep, it's the same one.  Your first too?!  You'll love it!  Some advice.....step 34 (attaching the body tot he chassis), there was a slight fit issue.  It seemed to rub up against the backseat.  It would not "pop" all the way down where it needed to be.  Just a few minutes of sanding (and repainting!) did the trick.  I went back to make sure I had done step10,11, and 21 correctly and didn't think I had, but you never know!

So just something to look out for.  I did use the other kit in the box and without the backseat and stuff, it popped right on.  So, I am not ruling out operator error for sure, just a little something to look out for.

The seam down the middle was odd too.  I sanded it off.  Never seen any tires with one tread running down the middle.  Not sure about any AM/replacement tires!  Honestly, I'm old school and it didn't cross my mind.  But if you find out about any, I think I could pop off the old tires and replace them.  It's a little more detail I guess.  Depends on how much they were too.

could you use the tyres from another model of the same scale of a different producer such as Revell, Tamiya, or Airfix ?

That's a good idea.  Maybe some of the other Airfix Mini kits have tires that woul dhave treads and be the right scale for the kit.

I've got the Mini Clubman S kit, just went looking for it in the stash, but it failed to surface. I'll have another look when I have a bit more time.

Isn't 1:32 a slot car racing scale? If so maybe some rubber tires at that scale would work?  I'll check a local hobby store and see.

I'm almost done with the Bel Air. I'm waiting on some foil so I can do the trim. It's supposed to be here this week. I did get the interior done. I had a few small mishaps but overall I like it. I plan on doing the 69 Chevelle next.

Tony, I think the Chevelle will be the last one I have time for before the end of December, so if you like you can remove the others except the 69 Chevelle and I'll save them for the next round. Thanks.

The bare metal foil I ordered came today. I have never used it before so I tried it out on the back of the Bel Air. I think I have it figured out now so I'll fix the roughed up areas and then do the rest of the car. This stuff is way better than trying to paint the trim.

I like the BMF too Eric, but of late I've noticed the sheets I've bought lack tackiness. I think they're probably very old stock at the retailer.

I've updated the build roster as requested, and also removed my Ferrari F186, I'll just get the Jag done this year.

I'm thinking of kicking of the 2014 Automotive GB on 1 Jan, what do you think ?

1 Jan sounds great. This time I am going to add as I complete heheehhe. I was thinking you should maybe do a special one in the Spring and run it for 2 months. Maybe something like 50's era hot rods. You can only use wheels and parts from that era. Earlier year cars must be hot rods, like a 39 coupe stock doesn't qualify but 39 coupe hot rod does. Just a thought to keep us going hehehe.

I think I'll have the Bel Air done this weekend.

Here is the completed Bel Air. This was my first attempt at using the metal foil. I think I have it figured out, but some spots didn't come out so good hehehehe.

I plan on starting the Chevelle this weekend.

I like it Eric. You've been motivating me to have a go at a few of these early Chevy's. I seem to have mucked up the build roster, I can't find this on your list. Could you advise the year and kit maker please.
