Well Russ;

I've been here before, heck, I did piece work for a living, no, not peace work....lol

I've done 4 out of 84, so i only have 20 out of 21 to go......Big Smile

Thanks for understanding, I'll have all the tails on by September, no sweat....lol

I just wonder if the acrylic is strong enough.

Any flattening or foundation excavation of Ho-Chi architecture and infrastructure is always an human and natural environmental enhancement....Whistling

BUFFS and their crews did humankind a favor by beatifying the landscape.....even if it meant

'drilling deep' into the minds of those intolerant to freedom and positive change.WhistlingWhistling

I'll lighten up a bit........some times backward folks need a little 'renovation' to 'lighten' up their lives.....Angry

I just got some resin parts from Super Bug for the H model I plan to build(61-0025 Shack Rabbit).  The parts are really nice.  There was some unknown delay in the shipping, but since I am only in the planning stage, that was of no concern.  I'll try to post some pictures later today.

Thanks Jim:

That's a lot of fantastic resin!

Thinking seriously about a Super Hornet....

but so many planes already lined up on the tarmac....

I was bragging a bit over on the Berny thread,

I lost almost 30 pounds in three months....

I'm only 6 pounds off my fighting weight,

mind you, lost 30 pounds of muscle too.....lol

I couldn't do a lot on my BUFF this weekend,

a relative opened an expired can of lobster, and

it sprayed all over the inside of our kitchen.

They didn't tell us, and it smelled like a dead rat, so

i disassembled the kitchen, I pulled out the counters

from the walls to see behind them and clean up,

I cleaned every kitchen surface with bleach, and threw everything either in the garbage or

in the sink to be sanitized.

What a mess.....the relative that did it didn't fess up until

after I had re-assembled the kitchen.

No time for BUFF's, but I did check the Mk 82's.....

Here's a fun thing to do.

Go to Google and enter "Barksdale AFB".

Go to Maps

Move up to the Alert Pad (the christmas tree looking thing at the north end of the field)

Click to increase the zoom until the view goes to a 45 degree look.

Look at the BUFFs in the tree.

The two on the left side are weapons loading trainers.  Brownie points for identifying the weapons!

The one on the right is being repainted.

Enjoy!

Nice, Jim! Brings back memories... crawling around in a cocked aircraft on a cold and snowy winter's morning with two MP's ready to arrest you if you stray out of each other's sight... Big Smile. I see the roach coach is just arriving...

Thanks for the link!

How do I get the group badge to show up in my posts??

Allen,

Ken told me how to do it awhile back but I've lost his message (shhh  don't tell him...Zip it!). Here's an FSM  thread that might help:

cs.finescale.com/.../151228.aspx (see the reply by Wing_Nut)

First you have to post the badge image in your Flikr account.  Then open the Signature block as instructed in the link above. Click on the Insert Image option and paste the link from your badge image located in Flikr. When  you're finished, click on the Save button at the very bottom of the page.

Hopefully that will do it.

Russ,

How do I get the group badge to show up in my posts??

Here' the method I use, notice I just switched the order of my badges:

Go to the badge on the first page and right click on it, and select something that looks like

"image location" or "image url" but essentialy it is the image address.

Then go to your "Community Settings" and using the little green film strip, by clicking on it, drop

the saved URL into the box, and it should show up, insert it, and then save your

new settings.

Barksdale BUFFs and "paw prints":

Source is Google Maps, I'll erase soon so I don't get sued......

Source is Google Maps......ditto

Looks like a partial B-58 Hustler, and the business end of a Titan ICBM......

Thanks Jim!

Cool, Dom! Thanks! I didn't realize you can link to another photo in FSM. Ken probably told me that but having lost his instructions... ah well, sorry Ken.

Allen, did you get that?

Addendum: Dom, I assume if you link to an image in FSM, you're stuck with the size of that image. So if you want a different size badge, you would have to resize it and then put it in Photobucket or some other image hosting site. Nez pas?

Guys, here's an interview and update on the BUFF's in service today.

The video of the BUFFs is recent, and the hostess explains a

bit about BUFFology.

I shot off an email to the fellow who was casting the weapons shapes.

Mark,

Are you planning to cast any of the nuclear shapes that are out of stock anytime in the near future?  I am involved in a B-52 group build on the Fine Scale Modeler site and there may be more people than me who would be interested in shapes.

Thank you for your time.

His response was:

Jim:

Would be happy to if I could only find a caster.  I'm on the road  a  lot for my real job and don't have the time to cast.

Mark

He sounds like our kind of hobbyist.  There is always hope, I guess.

You're welcome Russ,

I like it because it appears fresh,

nice shots of the bombs too,

I think your yellow rings are far too neat!

Guys,

Seeing the BUFF do low level strikes is really cool.

I just found this recent re-enactment of

the Dambuster's Raid, It's not a BUFF,

but I gotta tell you, the BUFF moves an awful lot like this baby does:

Cool video, Dom! Seeing the Lancaster in flight always makes me do a double take - those wide vertical stabilizers make the plane look like it has no rudder.

Thanks!

You're welcome Russ;

Lancaster had 20,000 lb daily payload......

Rich says she's ugly,

but, yeh, she's ugly, and I like ugly.......Whistling

I'm about to try gluing more Mk 82's together.......

Bad news.......

I let the bombs dry, and today I pulled them

out of the drying rack and tried to test the

strength of the bond between the tail-fin section and the bomb....

they fell off......just the lightest pressure....

so the gatorgrip can't really hold such a small

part the same way as CA.

Bad news is I am extremely allergic to CA.

I doh noh what to do know. How am I going to

glue the dang things together......

that was almost 80 buck$ of Mk-82's

I can't win for 8 balls around here.
