WIP on the M-1117. haven't decided on a paint scheme and probably won't finish it until after Nationals. thinking NATO 3 or 4 color, wither deserty with dark brown, sand, black, and really yellowish samd OR urban black dark gray light gray. could do the big block pattern like on the british berlin bde chieftain of the late 60s (?)

It's pretty much done. If I don't get NCPD decals in by September, then consider the build finished, at least in terms of the GB. I'm trying to acquire other kits as well so I'm trying to balance my budget between buying kits, trying to get some sold or traded then selling those, and trying to save money at the same time.

dragon BRDM-2/ATGM kit. base coat is light grey with black suspension. that was masked with silly putty. it looked like it was attacked by giant leeches. applied the blue. it was tamiya acrylic so i didn't thin it enough and had to unclog the airbrush. 3 coats later it was done and i started removing the leeches and scrapping some raised edges. black was freehand. it's hard to not have a pattern when doing this. long range vision was toast for 30 minutes after i was done. next was looking up arab words and making signs. glued them to superthin styrene and white glued to vehicle. since they are not painted on, the crew can remove the signs and join the other side easily. weathered with pastels. didn't want to overdo it, just knock down the sheen and blend the signs a bit.

had an issue with the paint vs dulcoat. these are the TAKE 2 recovery pictures

I'm still interested in this GB Greg. It's definitely piqued my interest, I just can't see myself getting a car done in time for the deadline with all my other projects.

And yet, I find myself examining police car kits.

Cheers

I managed to get the interior started over the weekend:

interior was basecoated with Tamiya Field Blue and then hit with ACRYL gloss coat

afterwards, the floor was painted with PS Grimy black w/Semi-gloos cargo tie downs

I picked up Revell's new FORD EXPEDITION POLICE SSV kit last night. Here's a quick run down on what's in the kit:

  • same kit from 1997, with different chrome wheels
  • new chrome grill w/molded in grill lights Sad
  • lightbar is from the 2004 Chevy Impala cruiser kit Sad
  • new sprue containing: 2 gear bags, 2 prisoner partitions, pushbar w/siren speaker(?), (mediocre) laptop, and camera (or radar?)
  • smoked rear windows and clear windshield
  • sprues molded in black

I will be building this as a Columbus PD what if black & white unit - CPD units are in white only.

Here are the sprues

It's mostly finished.  All I have to do is add some dust or dirt to it to make it look like it just came off duty before it's cleaned up.  I should have some pics up tonight.  Dan

Nice Greg.  Looks great.  I really like how you did the head lights and tail lights.  They look real.

I got the Black and White painted on the 68 Plymouth.  I got the White painted last Thursday morning and the Black this afternoon.  I'll let it dry a few days and then polish it to get rid of the small amount of dust that settled on it after painting.  Bummer.  I like building this car.  This is the first Cop car that I've ever built.  I'll post some pics up later when I take them.

Well, I'm calling this one complete...finally!  I still have a few decals (license plate, roof/car munbers) to add.  So here it is...warts and all. Huh?

The completed interior with radar unit and PR-24

the front end showing grill and pushbar - I added 1/2-round (.080) to simulate the rubber pads

the lightbar....it came from the Lindberg Charger kit

the completed Impala....left side

the rear right hand side

The COTA emblem decal is home-made and the other police decals are from Chimneyville's generic blue police sheet.

Hope you all like and as always...comments welcome and encouraged.

p.s. thisis my second completed model for this year!

Nice interior work. How'd you make the handheld mic?

Thanks, Mikey. yours is coming along nicely.

I made the radio mic from a part on the Revell Chevy Caprice radio stack. I still need to add the PTT button and then paint the whole thing. Sad

I have some pictures. Smile

I'm almost finished with the model. I'm probably going to add some trim to the windows if possible, then I'm going to attach the spotlights, and finally I'm going to try to get some Nassau County Police custom decals and apply them.
