Here's the start of Lindberg's Chevy Impala. I'm building it as an `04 car in COTA Transit Police markings - it's a "what if" as the Central Ohio Transit Authority uses Columbus (Ohio) PD special duty officers in an unmarked plain-jane white cruiser.

I removed the boring useless molded in console and grafted on the radio console from the Lindberg Dodge Caravan kit - that was a real pain in the.....

Floor pan with console removed, arrowstik, replacement console

Dashboard and front seats - dasg & interior painted Tamiya German grey, seats painted MM fabric grey Door panels and prisoner barrier

I finally installed the radio console, the lhs doors and the driver's seat... the yellow blob is the yet to be painted radio mic

hope you like & comments encouraged Whistling

have we got a badge yet?

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges.

Wayne, it's on page 1, along with your entry.

And that's a great looking M706! Bow Down  Thanks for the tips, too. Toast

M-706 is finished. some small boggers with the airbrushing that i missed until it was too late to fix. learned a few new tricks and, as i have 30+ warwheels in the stash, they will be useful in future builds. i also have 2 more of these, one w/20mm and one w/90mm. painted with MMA and weathered with just powders, no washes.

here's another trick on building these. don't put the turret or side hatches on until the very end. i decaled it and thay went well except i forgot to paint gloss where iwes going to decal so they didn't want to slide around a lot. tore one a tad and touched it up with paint.

as i knew i wanted to weather a bit on the bottom and under the fenders, i left the fiddly stuff off the top (mirrors headlights) and the tires. i was able to move it around by using the hatch holes and turret hole. after dusting i put the already weathered wheels on (which fit tight for a change from my usually experience with wheels) and flipped it over. will put everything on the top EXCEPT MIRRORS) touch up and weather.

i tried the masking on a VRC-150 a few years back with mixed results. this time i painted the back of the vision blocks tamiya acrylic clear green.  then painted the front frame while still on the sprue. any paint that gets on the window can be removed witrh a toothpick and some alcohol. because of the paint on the hull and the inside of the vision blocks they fit well with some glue. i touched up the frames after installing. on to decaling.

Wayne: looks great.  Did you paint it before or after you installed the vision blocks?

I have one built but I 'm stuck at the vision blocks - not sure if I should install/mask vision blacks or paint separate and install post-vehicle painting.  Mine will be marked as a civilian PD SWAT vehicle.

weather warmed up so i got 3 kits primed yesterday. here is the cadillac-gage M-706 MP vehicle. wish it had a good interior given all the hatches. normally i would have put almost everything together except the fiddly stuff (mirrors especially) but i have a new airbrush and want to play with colors and filters. i think i will add a little red brown to the OD for the suspension and add a little yellow or dirty white to the OD for all the hatches. vision blocks are clear including frame so will hand paint the frame and use clear green for the glass. may even A/B the clear. not sure if i am using MMA or polyscale OD. jerry can on back will be a darker green with a red or yellow top indicating oil. probably light weathering, mostly dust and road dirt, not a lot of mud.

Hm... I guess not... Oh we'll. If I have time after some of my other near-complete builds are done (I still have about 5-8 kits that are WIPs or aren't even started), I'll do that as a police car. So that's up in the air

Do you know if a '64 Dodge 330 Super Stock was ever used as a police car?

Here's a list of Chrysler vehicles used for law enforcement:

Yeah. It does look nice... And I know that its the only one on the market. I contacted Hasegawa about it, suggested a new product, and I also contacted Revell about a new product as well.

Mikey: you got that kit cheap!  It's actually the only Crown Vic on the market and usually looks great, once completed, considering it's a "curbside" kit.  There's no real issues when building it and it has a great interior, even though the prisoner cage is a bit thick.

30SEP shouldn't be a problem. both are cadillac gage 4x4s though the guardian has a lot of additional armor stuff on it. single color unless i find the 706 with another nation. already built one of these variants so i know what to watch out for. and it will be after nationals when i may need an easy lbuild to regain my sanity, if that is possible.

i'm sure you know this but others may not. i read a post complaining about a primer that didn't work. turns out it was a primer COLOR but not an actual primer.

No problem. I like the enamels... Just because I've always used them and they're pretty inexpensive...

Update: I've only looked at the kit.. I'm pretty disgusted with it and Lindberg... It's one of those easy-assemble kits... with a pre-painted body and screw together attachments... It doesnt even come with an engine.... Need list to say, I'm pretty upset that I spent $11  just to buy this thing...

I prefer acrylics & lacquers - so I went with MM/ACRYL gunship grey.  It's just slightly darker than the primer grey, but it has a semi-gloss vinyl look when dry and it adds a nice two-tone to the interior.

thanks for the suggestion, Mikey.

Well, I've suffered a set back of sorts.  Seems Testors has discontinued the "Primer Grey" in their Auto Lacquer line.....  I hadn't finished painting the all interior components of my Blazer, not to find an alternative shade of grey.
