SHERMAN and TIGER look great.

update on 150mm howitzer. first pic is painted prewash. my first freehand airbrush and not all that great. may have to get a fine needle if i am going to do more of this. or at least practice A LOT. second and third pic show one wheel with oil pin wash and the other without. last 2 pics are the entire cannon. think i will try doc o'brien's washes for this one as i have 2 sets.

Yeah but Vader did not know he had both of them for teachers...Wink

The SiG is looking good. Dont beat yourself up on the freehand camo. After all the real things were done in the filed, under less than ideal conditions, likely by some Private who would rather have been doing something else.

Bish: please add a Horch 108 Typ 1a (Tamiya 1/35) to my build list.  I picked one up for $15.50(incl s/h) and it arrived today.Geeked  It'll be marked as 711.Infantriedivision. (en.wikipedia.org/.../711th_Infantry_Division_(Wehrmacht)) Hopefully, {crossing fingers} I'll have it completed this weekend.

Interesting... the Heer 711th Infantry Division has the same insignia as the US 5th Infantry Division, a four sided red diamond.

I'll take Patton too.  But Skorzeny does have a cool scar.

But Georgie had those sweet six shooters... and was a crack shot with the pistol.

And was an excellent fencer.  He could have easily given Otto a second cool scar.  Much like the Six Fingered Man.

5th place in the original Modern Petathalon in the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm, and the top non Swedish placement in that event (scary to think that 4 Swedes took the other top ranks).

Earliest evidence of doping in sports is my guess.  If they hadn't been all doped up on HGH Patton would have won. Toast

It was the pistol event. The judges ruled that he missed the target completely on a shot, as opposed to the round going thru a hole already there. I have scored enough targets to know that that does happen.

Yep, that's what happened.  There's no way he just missed the target completely.  I mean, it was a fixed target.  No running, no moving targets, just paper, it's not like he tripped or paniced or something.  Someone with his amount of skill wouldn't miss the whole thing.  I especially reject a complete miss because a neighbor of mine could not be such a poor shot.

Then again the judges might have been Swedes . . .

Guess that's why Sweden is neutral- so who wants to pick a fight with the Swedes!?! Black Eye

Good thing there is a bomber and a jeep there for reference purposes. I thin both Pyre and Gamera have a point...

I like painting flesh tones - this needs be voted as a most wanted model in next year's survey.

----------------------------------------

bitbite - great set of second photos, colours are more vivid and nice weathering too. Yes

jibber - terrific job on the Tiger camou.  The dark/rich colours of the crew helmets and spare track lengths would normally be at odds, but appear to work quite well here. Yes

waynec - looking forward to more of this gun, I've one in the stash from AFV Club.  If it's the hard camou edges you are not happy with, you can correct it with a dry brush technique using your dark yellow paint.  Just  use a light dabbing motion, and slowly build up the paint.

----------------------------------

On the Sherman Vc front - after measuring the length of the side walls of the lower hull, they were found to be equal.  So I just trimmed the front end of the floor  flush, and attached the transmission housing.  Next up is to address the sponson, the hull area that sits atop the tracks.  Tamiya is notorious for leaving this open, even in 1/35 scale.

regards,

Jack

well obi wan can visit me. actually was going for a soft edge. i do hard edges with tape and/or silly putty. i did go back with some yellow spraying to even things our a bit. i throw some mus and dust on it and it will be ok. small base, probably not spend time on the crew. this will be only 2nd finished model in sept. just slow going right now.
