I like how Bish officially closed this build eleven days ago but it refuses to go away.  Big Smile

I guess the caption didn't make it to the last post.  Here it is just so you know I haven't gone off topic. Smile

The photos are great, bitbite!  Our country can rest more secure, knowing we have the hamsters defending us.

Reminds me of "The Rat Patrol."

Well  the 'Maus' German supertank is fairly well known, and they designed an even larger one called the 'Ratte'. Less known is the largest of all- the 'Hamster'. Sorry I couldn't find a photo of it.

I believe it was coincided such a powerful weapon that all information, images and the bare mention of it were destroyed least it full into the hands of anyone evil enough to attempt to build it.

Such as this pair.

And this one, well back of the lines but the recruit eventually ended up in 12th SS Panzer so it applies for this build . . .

Looks real good there GT!

Here is my latest update as of midday today, 6/18
engines main colors painted

machine guns painted & drybrushed

rear windows, gunners hatches, and waist gun ammo bin glued in place

forward side windows in place

and I got another wild idea to clean out the solid portions that should not be there on the bombracks

I'm on my days off for the next few days, so more progress to follow...

Ken: Very nice- always happy to see another fine looking P-47!

SP: Again, more cool work! Curious to see how the pre-painted stuff is going to work out when you've got her all together!

Much as I enjoy the silly stuff it's nice to see some serious stuff guys!

Ken - congrats!  Admirable work on the venerable jug. Yes

Interesting marking choice, usually see these birds with nose art or some sort of splash of colour.

-------------------------------------

Stik - again, great stuff there.  I too am wondering about the choice of painting the stripes while the fuselage halves are still separate.  Must be a very exact fit when it comes time to gluing - or are you leaving it detachable to better view the interiors?

regards,

Jack

Well I figure that seam clean up will remove the striping along the seam where they meet (or do not exactly). I can then touch up by hand and that will give the "hand painted" look common to the real aircraft. The way that this kit assembles, with the wing spars coming off of the bomb bay bulkheads and out thru the fuselage sides for the wings to mount upon, makes leaving the fuselage side detachable an option not easily done. I do want to try to finish this real soon.

Well done, Ken and stik!  Great results.

I'm finding myself bogged down with work, and maybe only getting to work on one part per night--sometimes not even that.

I'd like to get done with D-Day before the start of Cobra!

Ken, really nice work on the Jug. It feels like this GB has been over for ages, but your right, its now only 2 weeks since D-day. Nice to see the Jug on the front page.

SP, that's looking really nice, some really nice work going into this.

CMK, no worries buddy, I think you have about 5 weeks before Cobra, hopefully you can get some decent bench time.

Well it was a bosy day for me on and off at the bench... do some work, gluing or painting, let it dry, take photos, take a break, then do some more. So here we go.
first up, the last bit of work that I did yesterday but did not photogrpah because it was time to go to work. A wash of Testors FX acrylic on the engines. This time I did not let it dry before I started cleaning it off, so it worked better. I am slowly getting a handle on this stuff.

Today I started off with adding the Quick Boost barrels to the tail guns, waist guns, and top turret.

a close up of the top turret

and later I added the clear cover to the turret

and I glued the fixed nose gun in place onto the bombardiers floorboard

next I added some PE ammo belts into the tail gun ammo troughs and glued the waist guns in place

then I added the flex ammo chutes for the waist guns, painted them and bent them into proper shape

and all ready for closing up

cockpit glued in place

top turret, tail gunners floorboard & seat, and armor plate put in place

all the fuselage ready for joining

all closed up and glue drying

some close up views of the waist guns looking up inside. There is a LOT more visible thru those open hatches than the camera can pick up

and a few views of the tail gunners compartment... the last best view of it before the other stuff goes in there...

seam clean up starts tomorrow...

The Heer Hamsters better take cover... bombers inbound soon...

Amazing work Stik!  More of that detail is going to be visible than I thought, this has been one of my favorite builds to follow

Outstanding work on the interior, stik.  The level of detail is astonishing.
