I finally got more white paint for what I'm hoping will be my last coat.

What do I find on my spray bench, a bird down.  The arrows landing gear came off so its drying now.  Last coat will have to wait.

i am really into wheels (13 modern trucks and 20 warwheels, mostly modern. oh and 3 fire trucks. currently finishing up a JGSDF TYPE 96B 8x8 IFV. started it last year and put it aside for a while. my building has really improved in the last year as has my painting.

will be getting the HUSKY 6x6 arv and the PUMA 6x6 with the squadron sale

i presume the LAV-III is also the canadian COYOTE. if so i have run out of canadian warwheels to build. pity. i suppose i could get anothe LAV-III and do an IFOR pattern.

Great job on the Grizzly Wayne. I love those new trumpeter armour kits. They gotogether with almost no fuss.

Was trying to decide what scheme to paint my little CF-5 and decided on the 3 tone for 419 agressor squadron. i even have some russian numbers lying around to use on it. 

Wayne that Grizzly is great! I love the look of these wheeled armor vehicles. Perhaps someday when my stash thins out a bit...

I've realized I should have used white primer.

I've burned through a whole bottle of gloss white trying to cover the whole bird.  I put the last coat on today, so we'll have to see how it dries.  Hopefully I won't need to buy more paint.....

I love seeing the clean & dirty pics at the same time - looks suitable used on dusty terrain!

i'm calling this one done. yet another first time experiment, weathering with an airbrush using comart paints. in the future i will use comart for the wet stuff and powders for the dusty stuff but wanted the first one done the same way. it's one of my generic bases i use to photograph finished armor.

Yourself as well, Chris.  I've still got a long way til I'm at the point you are.  I've never heard of the mechanical pencil technique.

Over the course of a week, I've got a little more progress made.

I managed to bash together Eduard's painted etch panel with the Aires panel board, just a little fiddling with the gun sight, but not too bad.  I also decided to buy and insert some 0.08" rod for the shaft from the engine, this way I can mount the de Havelland prop and have it spin at the end.  Dry fitting so far seems to indicate I may have to do a wee bit of squeezing, but nothing too bad.

I'll be doing prototype markings, probably 201 since it did get flight time.

I did some mid-shading using the mechanical pencil method.  Never did panel lines before so we'll see how this turns out.

Wrapping up a couple of ongoing builds this weekend = that much closer to "rattling my Sabres".

Chris - you look ready to start throwing paint! Did you say you were using prototype markings or "wif" ??

Wayne - some great work on your Grizzly!

since it is NATO all the vehicles keep there base colors unlike UN operations where the vehicles are painted white

i built a COUGAR after doing the LAV-III. both are UN white. here are pickes of the GRIZZLY after decaling. i added the canadian flag to the turret because i had a 4th one. also added an additional black strip on the rigght side. fortunately i found the decals i had accidently tossed in the trash. they were still in the plastic so undamaged. i recreated the license plates on the computer and will glue plastic to the back ad glue them on. tires are not secured so they may look a tad off and some of the engine gray is flaking off again so a touch up is in store. NOTE the mirror/haeadlight assys are NOT attached. also not the short shiny brush guard. that broke off 2x in 2 different places so the replacement and the antenna go on after the weathering. still haven't decided on airbrush dusting or pastels. never tried the airbrush technique.

Hey, I've just noticed this thread.  I'm finishing up Academy's KV-107 as Labrador 301 for Father's Day.  I was on track until my clearcoat frosted all the windows.  I could also plan to build my Cougar AVGP over the summer!

It looks like it will work.  If that's poster tack, it's amazing you got it narrowed down to those little points!

I've been putting off masking but I finally did it.

They give you so much clear plastic for very little window opening.

Wayne, that looks really good. I don't see the imperfections that you mention.

close up it's a little light in spots but that is the tamiya acrylic. i usually paint with MMA and may have thinned the tamiya too much. fortunately weathering will hide some of it and this isn't a competition piece anyway.

Thanks, Andrew and Wayne, for the Silly Putty information.  I've got some I was going to try for a future ship project (USS Atlanta).  This will come in handy.

And, Wayne, it looks like it worked to perfection for you on this project.  Looks outstanding.

more WIP. i broke half of the driver's brush guard off yesterday. today i managed to break the other half off. fortunately o have the folded down one i can trim up and use. all the fiddly stuff (mirrors/headlights are done but won't go on until after weathering. may get decals on tonight and dullcoat everything but, since the new and last season of BURN NOTICE starts tonight, maybe not. vision blocks are tamiya clear green. hopefully they will tone down a bit with dullcoat

I used the silly putty on an M109 I did and had no issues with it.
