I'm cracking on with the turret today, one subassembly left to go and five to attach in addition to the 7 already mounted -- and I just mounted the main gun as well. Getting it straight is almost a philosophic exercise... Small dressing parts underway, some of them etch. I'm hoping to have a pic tonight, with the turret complete to the pre-painting stage, with all locator points treated with masking solution...

Tony: She's so close!

Mike: Looking good! And glad to see I'm not the only one to sometimes pull out the 'manly tools' to beat a model into submission! Stick out tongue

Just to prove I'm actually doing something here... I must have put on the top side pieces on the fighting compartment crooked since they really looked bad when I primed the whole thing. Maybe I should have pried them off but I'm trying to putty and sand them to fit.

Great progress happening here, Tony! This one will be finished quite soon, methinks!

I've got back onboard the AS-90 and have been making progress on both plastic and etch fronts. Here's a pic from today:

I've fiddled with a lot of PE and very little shows here but the screens, which are the easiest of all... Next shot should be the turret loaded up with heaps of detail, including loads of etch.

I found a shot from HGWT II, when I was pulling the rear of the hull into alignment, I don't recall if it was ever uploaded, probably not -- so here it is. Fit can be a dicey thing in some kits and sometimes you just have to go with a real handyman solution -- no, not duct tape, this time...

...but a couple of C clamps sure did the job!

Cheers, Mike/TB379

spent 3 winters in germany. couldn't get mortar tracks into one firing point. also had a bn eercise canceled when at ft carson due to snow and sub zero temps. now i just stock up on supplies and stay home, build, read, play computer games, do puzzles.

in 2 weeks we could have a couple of days of light jacket weather. plus the low humidity helps.

That's it Chris Postem if you gotem.

What an odd name "The Other Tony".Wink  Depending on the angle of the lights the OD changes shades.

Just an accident of nature when mixing, matching and layering different brands of OD.

Wayne how about a picture or two buddy, it adds to the drama.Big Smile

I've added the ammo tubes, though I made the yellow bands a bit large, added the decals for the 13th RCA and did some paint touch ups.

Weathering to come next.

well DANA is all basecoated pukey pale green and all the tools and aiming stakes and between the 2 "turret" halves done, just waiting for the motivation to do the silly putty and start the camo. but have not been idle, FLAK 36 is basecoated gray and going tiogether today and i have decided on a what if camp pattern for 1/35 VOSPER plus some other work on it. and all the gray on LCVP is done and, of course, now i found the AM PE for it in my stash.

Half the price of metal and they look strong.

Yeah and updates aren't much good without pictures.

Hi Jim -- yes it is! I worked on the gun mount last night and added some subassemblies and detail parts to the turret, but that first piece of etch I attached yesterday has today vanished... I have minimal patience with etch at the best of times, this aspect -- zero strength to withstand subsequent handling -- diminishes it even further. I'll not be mucking about with tool clamps or anything like that, just getting on with the main stuff and getting this animal done!

Well, it's official, I just folded my first new piece of etch for the AS-90, so I guess the project is back on!

Is that the one I sent you way back in HGWT 1?  About time!  Big Smile

Tony: I was joking about you being finished despite my head start but looks you'll be done way ahead of me! Looks great, I hope mine looks 10% as good.

Wayne: the DANA is just plain cool looking. Sharp work!
