I do believe the colors will work together after all.

Wow, that netting is pretty darn cool! Now I want to try some.

Jibber: Beautiful work there, love the interior! Looking forward to seeing the figures painted- love the 'MEIN GOTT!!! STORMOVIK!!!' poses there!

I really like these figures. their facial expressions and poses, but especially the calm commander observing and I'm sure directing his crew.

Garzonh - way to hang in it does look great, though the sergeant-major wouldn't be too impressed when he saw that lol

Wayne - do you have a link for that camnet technique?

Garz: She's looking absolutely gorgeous! I love the mud effect and that nice camo! You did a mighty fine job on fixing that one!

Wayne: Very nicely done Sir! Everything's looking great so far! Keep up the good work!

Tony: Some really good work on your side as well!

camo nets are tricky. there is a technique on how to make a modern net by a guy in sweden. takes a lot of practice if you are going to show it deployed plus making modern poles and fans. s quick base with a slightly rutted road would work. keeps your hands and judges' hand off the model. you can get a plaque at craft store with 40% coupon, some cheap kids modeling clay BUT NOT PLAYDOUGH, some cheap acrylic ground color tubes and use real dirt with white glue and a squirt mister.

or an curved elevation msybe headlight high in front. i am working on a simple base buiulding article for my club but most of my guns and armor are at least photographed on 1 of 4 "generic" bases i created.

Thunderbolt379: Thank you!, I came here from an invitation an Im glad I came over. I can admire everybody else work.

pyrman64: I also liked very much the mud, it was an experiment and I may use this technique for making a base for the model.

waynec: Nope, I have not being able to make bases but I definitely need to start making them. On the foliage...you are right!, you are a good observer., I did add the foliage to make you wonder it got picked up from ground and got stucked. So, yes, a base would be a good idea with this mud and foliage around. Im thinking in a low emplacement, maybe with a cammo/foliage net over it.

Yours is also coming great!.

Yes, cameras sometimes cant capture the subtle color differences the eye can see...mine looks better on real life. I just need to improve my photo skills.

jibber: Thank you, I took the risk you are right it could have come out very bad, but since I had already destroyed an AB nozzle, then, what the heck?...lets do it.

Tony: already said my great appreciation on your comments in the Armor forum.

Gamera: Oooh, cant wait to see yours and your pics on your The longest day GB. Thanks my friend.

Garzonh: Really, really nice work! The camo came out great and I love the splattered mud. Great job all around!

Wayne & Tony: Those two look great two, nice to see all the progress.

I finished my build for 'The Longest Day' and just need some good lighting to photograph her now- so I pulled out the M40 and started back to work on her. Cross your fingers I'll have some photos up soon.

Tony I agree with Thunder, I'd be really worried to put that on after all your work but I agree that you pulled it off and it's a really nice build.

Nice work Wayne.

I've finally done some work on my 1/48 Bandai Wespe. You may remember that I didn't like the kit road wheels, as they are one sided with just a flat disc as the back. I bought a Tamiya Panzer II in the hope of using the chassis, wheels and  tracks. The Tamiya is about 1 centimeter shorter than the Bandai one, so it can't be used. I've no idea why.

Therefore I've used the Tamiya Pz II road wheels, although I had to drill them out to fit on the Bandai mounting axles. There is no chance that the Tamiya tracks will fit, so I'll have to make do with the resin ones that I bought some time back, although they are quite rough. Since the Tamiya kit is a donor, I'll use as many detail parts as  I can from it, as they are much finer than the 70s Bandai molded items. I have used the Bandai return rollers, as they are OK and a lot less work than making the Tamiya ones fit. Haven't decided on the drive sprockets yet, will look at these tonight.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

hi garzonh: had to look at the pics a couple of times before deciding i like the mud splatter. are you putting this on a base because it looks like a piece of foilage in the front upper left track.

thanks greg but this FLAK 43 isn't mine. mine is the towed version in the DUCKHUNTER GB.

lstest on DANA. i airbrushed a wash of REAL DEAL dirty oil on the black suspension and engine and oversprayed that with dark rust. i like the color but it may not show in the photos. it also brought out every flaw in the prep; sanding marks, seams, runs in the psint. in the future i will stipple everything with mr surfacer brfore finishing. it will add some road grime texture and hide errors.

i painted the engine red for some color. next time i will prepaint every part before building.

Mutt: the M43's coming together nicely.

Wayne: Nice job on the FlaK 43.

Garzonh -- well done! That's a brave mud job, I'd be terrified to lay it on like that, but you pulled it off! That's a hard-used beast!

I'll have your build on the Honour Wall later today!

Cheers, and congrats on being first home,

I think they did, the photos aren't that good. If you look at the Voyager PE set, the muzzle brakes are very similar. One piece barrel and muzzle.

Jibber: Thanks for the pics! Looks like Dragon did a very good job on the muzzle brake...

Garzonh: She looks great! The camo looks good and the weathering looks very convincing!

i had 2 sights with mine, the "box" and the open with telescope.

or i'm seeing things.

Wayne: the 2 sights were for different targets.  The telescopic sight was for ground targets and the "box" style was for anti-aircraft use.

Hey, update time...

First round of pinwash, rust and dirty grease...a lot of weathering is still to be done, so lets wait for the finished product.

Yeah, that periscope looks too bright red... I though it would be much transparent, hmmm...might just cover it in black...

Some great work happening here, gents! Jibber, that's a lot of gun to cram into a small space, you're doing a great job!

It'll be up around Christmas before I can get to my AS-90, there's more on my bench than I can shake a stick at, as they say, and I have three weeks overseas coming up next month, and a lot of work to clear before I go...

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Thats a lot of suspension and what a difference the wash makes. . For me, I try and paint up all the subs ahead of time for all the reasons you stated. I've done it both ways, I guess it depends on the kit.
