I am seriously out of my league here. However, that's never stopped me before....

Here's a recent 54mm fig from Andrea's Dark Nova line I finished a couple of years ago.
I'd have to say that's the most recent one I've put any amount of real time on. Recently, everything else has been slap-dash at best.

OK I'll bite for a second GB with you guys I have the two Dragon Iron Man VII suits in the stash, the Combat version and the flying version in 1/9. I was going to light at least one but I think that may be a bit much for my skill level at the moment. If someone wants to do either of the two i have I can swap, or I could go mad and try both!!

Phil - Let's put you down for one or the other and then, if you have enough time, you can tackle the second one. So, which do you think you'd like to do first?
As inspiration and proof that if I can do this, anyone can. I specialize in doing these bigger figures mostly with an airbrush, because I get way-better results than I do by hand. These were all done that way. Prior to finishing the first, the last figure I built was Horizon's Robocop in 1989 with one-color flesh, one-color metal, etc.

Done!
Mike (ruddratt) - sweet job on that deep sea diver. As noted, brass looks excellent as does the face.
Tim - looks right on, and at 54mm - wow! Is that an off take from the Warhammer40k genre?
Aaron - inspiring work there, and you say all airbrushed? Do you do any masking?
--------------------------I'll be joining in with a 1/7 resin kit of Psylocke, a member of the X-men. I think the maker's brand is Antihero.
Hoping it arrives in time as it's been on pre-order fro almost a month now.
regards,
Jack

Thanks for the compliments. The fig isn't part of the 40K universe, but it's definitely influenced by it.
I think the your kit is made by GK Figures and the line is called Antihero. And, Psylocke is, in my opinion, one of the coolest X-men characters, and under-utilized in the "expanded" universe stuff Marvel had done outside of the comics. Great choice, too. Dynamic pose. Can't wait to see how the model turns out!
Tim, you know more about Psylocke than I do - lol.
I receive a weekly email from e2046 to see what is coming out over the horizon, and when I saw her, I had to add it to the stash. No clue who the character was, but have since googled her to at least find out what her powers were. As you said, a very dynamic pose and the sculpting looks incredible.
This is all new to me. Does anyone know if I could find John Carter (old school?)
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thanks fellas! It's my wife's favorite of all my builds and therefore the only one privy to display space in the living room as opposed to the workroom. Could also be its slight resemblance to DeNiro.
Tim and Aaron - that's some stellar work you guys! This is a fantastic idea for a GB (you guys have done it again!). The diversity of subjects even at this early stage is really impressive.
Jack - that looks sweet! I've seen your figure painting and it's mind-blowing! Can't wait to see that one take shape!

"We have our own ammunition. It's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes pretty pictures....scares the hell outta people."
Yeah those look great guys!!! I love Aaron's Gillman, I love the movie and have to get this kit one day, though I prefer the one with him abducting Julie Adams too.
GM: I'm not sure about any models of John Carter. There have been a few of Dejah Thoris but they would have a bit of a problem with Tim and Aaron's rules since they go with Boris Vallejo's paintings showing her wearing a little jewelry, a smile and nothing else...
Lastly, nothing raunchy, hyper-sexual, uber-violent or gory, and absolutely no nudes. Basically, if you have to ask yourself, "Would this be OK?", it's probably not.

Anyway the last two larger figures I did, most of my stuff is 54mm/1/35th or smaller.
Reaper's Ellen Stone, Cowgirl in 90mm
FineMold kit - no idea what scale since it's the crazy super deformed style, the 'chocolate chip' camo was a blast to paint.
GMorrison This is all new to me. Does anyone know if I could find John Carter (old school?)
Like Gamera said, most of the Dejah Thoris figs out there have her sans clothing, as that's how ERB portrayed her in the books. Even the new Dynamite comic book holds to this.
Most of the "Mars" figures available are gaming figs, and the majority of them aren't that good. I took a spin around the web last night just to see if a company has made a "John Smith of Neptune" sort of model to get around licensing from the ERB estate, but it doesn't look like there are any.
On an up note, Pegasus has done a model of Tarzan, so that might be something for you to look at. It looks like a nice mold, and it's licensed from ERB.
Gamera - That's some nice work! Gotta love the Reaper quality. I really like their paint, too.
Aaron Skinner wing_nut I will oficially join the fray with a Moebious ''Creature Frm The Black Lagoon''. Sory for the typos but way to manybirthday margatiteas to figure out how to spell check on the new tablet. Is that the new kit of the Gillman carrying the girl? Cheers, Aaron

Yes... and I just ordered the kit from Amazon.

UPDATE: Aaron and I have hammered out an idea for the badge with our art director and put in the order. That is all.
Tim: Thanks and looking forward to seeing the new badge.
Marc: Really looking forward to seeing how your kit comes out, I mean everyone's entries sound cool but I love the movie 'Creature From The Black Lagoon'!
I've got several movie monsters (as in Japanese movie Godzilla, King Kong, etc.). Would something like this fit? I ask because they are definitely not 1/16 but are fairly large model figures.
Rob Gronovius I've got several movie monsters (as in Japanese movie Godzilla, King Kong, etc.). Would something like this fit? I ask because they are definitely not 1/16 but are fairly large model figures.
Hi Rob,
Aaron and I have talked this over. Seeing as a 1/16 scale Godzilla would be somewhere over 3 meters tall (assuming Godzilla's smaller incarnation of 50 meters), we can make an exception in this case. And depending upon which movie you're going after, he can be hero or villain. Of course, King Kong, Gamera, Mothra, and the lot would be in the same category.
We'll postpone the FSM Kaiju vs. Mechs Group Build until 2015.
Just let us know which kit and the scale and you're in!
I definitely want in on this. Not sure what I will build yet but I have had my eye on doing a spiderman, he always was my favorite superhero growing up. Will hit the store before the week end and let you know. Also been thinking about doing Mobius' Battlestar Galatica's Cylon if that would be acceptable.
Shiv,
Your seat has been reserved. The Cylon would totally fit the build.
Of course, King Kong, Gamera, Mothra, and the lot would be in the same category.
OK, so I see that name in a lost of monsters and I realize that's someones handle. I had never heard of that one and it's a major hint to someones screen name
Oh and BTW, Tim, Aaron... have you guys "advertised" this GB to the general membership? I notice a lot of the same names from WWI GB. I mean I like all you guys and all but some new blood (not to drink) would be good too.

Marc,
We've mentioned it over in Figures. I was thinking about saying something in Sci-fi. All I can say is that you guys who got on the FSM GB wagon are a loyal lot. Proud to be in a GB with you guys anywhere!
But, it looks like Kugai might join us, and Rob Gronovius is hopping in, too. So, not all are FSM WWI Aeroplane GB vets.
And there's still a month and a half before launch. Plenty of time for all the old guard and some newcomers to join up.
Also, if anyone thinks they know someone who would want to tag along, invite 'em on over. I only bark, and Aaron's had his rabies shots. Which reminds me, Jeaton still has my Spandau firing pins ...
I know eagle90 is thinking about it. But he only has the STAP with battle Droid. Its the right scale, but not sure if its enough of a villain.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Shiv - Earlier, I spoke too soon in my rush to get you signed up. While the Moebius Cylon is a cool kit (Aaron loves it), I think it runs into the same problem as the stormtrooper or the battle droid: the fig isn't the "big bad," but rather, the henchman--unless in the expanded universe there's a story about a special cylon commander or battle droid who becomes something more than a light-saber fodder.
I sincerely hope that isn't a deterrent.
Bish - I think it would be cool if eagle90 joined up, but as you and I discussed about the stormtrooper (and reflecting what I wrote above), I think the build needs to go more with "named" characters rather than the faceless hordes that carry out their orders. Now, one of the clone trooper commanders, like Cody, I think that would fit.
I was thinking the same Tim. But worth asking. Still time to work on something.
