That was really quick Eric ! I just went to the stash in the garage to find my kit and you're already in !

I'll go with the Monogram 1/24 '53 Corvette first up.

I did have a serious look at the Monogram Miller Mustang, and the Revell 60 Corvette fell down from it's high spot and hit me on the head, so it nearly got a run too.

I'll update the Build Roster now.

I forgot.  Time permitting, I will likely add a vette! I'm trying to decide on a kit. I have a couple ideas, but I won't buy the '53 kit I saw as I don't want to duplicate. There are so many others to choose from.

Tony, add me to the list with the old MPC Mako Shark II and a Monogram '65 or '66 Stang.  At this point not sure in what style the Stang will be done but it will come to me later.   rommel

Hey!!!! That's cheating on a global scale!!!!  I wasn't sure if you were living in the states or Australia, but now I know.  LOL!!! 

I am considering a '62 Vette Convertible like Coleson drives in S.H.I.E.L.D.

Any kit recommendations?  Are any better than the others?

I think your idea with the 63' would be interesting.

I wanted to get started today since I have to wait on the Bel Air to dry, but we have a big storm running through.

Hopefully it will clear up enough where I can get maybe an hour in hehehehe.

I'm in with Revell's 69 Baldwin Motion Corvette. It's been sitting on my bench taunting me for about a week. I'll be spending Sunday with my new camera, trying to figure out how to get pics from my camera to my computer, and then posted. But I hope to have some wip pics by next weekend.

Autos are new to me. I'm building a Mini Cooper now (my 1st auto). I've always liked the Corvette Stingray like the 73 (74?) white one Bill Bixby drove in "The Magician". (Probably showing my age here but it was a popular show in my college dorm.) Does anyone make a nice kit of a Stingray Corvette from that time period?

OK, it's Nov. 1 and I just did the monumental task of getting the Shark out of the box.  This kit has been in my stash for a LONG TIME and wish I had looked it over a little closer.  I cringed when I found a slight warp to the body, bad glass and first thing the engine block halves had the locator pins misaligned and had to be trimmed away.  The block takes lots of cleanup to fit without large gaps.  I keep forgetting that these 60's kits were not engineered like kits today but I can deal with it.  I have not yet chosen a color for this one but I am leaning toward a blue.  I never liked the fade away paint on the 1:1 so I will not try that.  Well, I have knife and gloo in hand so here goes……………...

Hey Alan, if you want a '73 or '74 Vette, you might try the "Bay" as there are always a good supply of older kits there.  MPC and AMT both made some that looked ok.  Sometimes they get kinda pricey but just shop, I don't think there are any from that year currently issued.  I will look in my stash, I might have something, I will PM you if I do.   Rommel K

I think blue is the only color that will do it justice hehehe. Just something about a blue vette I was going to paint mine Star Spangled Blue, but think I will go with cherry red, or candy apple red lol.

I did start on the funny car today. I'm having some of the same issues as you Rommel.  I'm 2 for 2 with these MPC kits. The engine parts are ugly hehehehe.

Here's the kit,

Got most of the mold lines sanded out and cleaned up.

Washed it up and then spayed the primer on, then found some small mold lines I missed. Primer really helps bring stuff like mold lines, waves, and dimples out. I use Red Devil primer. It sprays on really thin so you don't lose much detail.

Started working on the engine. I used the touch-n-flow solvent welder to join the halves together. This engine did not match up and has dimples in both ends. I had to cut the aligning pins off and then sanded the halves down as close to smooth with out taking to much off. Then I aligned the top on both the fron and back and clamped them together, then applied the solvent welder. If done right, after it dries and you sand it off there's no seam. The pins on the heads would not let them move down flush with the edge of the block so I removed material from the pins until they were flush. The intake would not line up and was sitting cocked because of the pin hole under the intake was causing it to sit crooked when placed on the pin. I opened up the side of the pin hole so the intake could move sideways and now thing are looking better hehehe.

I was also able to get the Rear body support welded to the interior part.

Wheeler, after seeing your pics, I remember the Mustang kit .  I think that kit helped expand my vocabulary some years ago.  Maybe not, but I think you might get to re-engineer some of that one.  At least I know I am not alone with some ill fitting parts right out of the box.  I should have picked one of the newer Revell tools for a Vette project but bad choices seem to be my norm.  (I bought a Yugo once).  Good luck with the Funny and if none of my modeling tools can help me make the Shark go together, I will just dig out the Mossberg and start a Stang.     RommelK

Great start guys and thanks for sharing!  I'm following the builds with great interest as this will be my first car in 30 years, not to mention, my first car doing fine scale details EVER!

I think I am going to start prep work later today or tonight if possible.

I may give this one a shot. I have several Corvettes but I think I will build one of two Mustangs I have from the clearance bin. I don't know much about the cars, but I have a Revell Motorworks Mustang Mach III. It is some sort of concept car.

The other kit is by a company I'm not too familiar with called Jada.  It is a 2007 Ford Shelby GT-500. I like the looks of this kit better. I've built a few Jada kits, but they were of the Speed Racer movie Mach 5 and Mach 6 snap kits I built for my son. This GT is a real kit with interior, suspension, engine, etc.

My kit had a $4 price tag, I just found this image on the web.

Thanks Rommel. Half the fun is figuring out how to fix it. I guess if everything fit perfect it would be boring hehehehe.
