Thank you! It is a great kit. I might do a little more sanding if I find any seams left, but she is pretty much ready for painting! Looking up now to see what color the stand should be.

LOL! Well, my stash is probably around 400-425 now. Not as many as a lot of folks on here, but I didn't build but maybe one kit during my 21 years in the Air Force. But I kept on buying! I have had some luck with estate sales also lately, so my stash jumped considerably in the last 2-3 years. What you see is about 1-2 shelves from about 4 sets of them and lots of storage under tables and over head on the tops of the display wall! I'll have to take an updated pic of the hobby room. It has changed some due to "unscheduled" renovations!
Not only is his stash "only" 400 kits, but look at ALL THAT PLASTIC!!! I see at least (all in 1/48) 2 C-47s, 2Ju-88s, I think 2 B-17s, 3 B-24s... Geeze. He's almost got more LARGE planes than some small countries, in just one picture!
Sorry Eagle, You done opened yourself up for this with that last pic and stating you had 400+ kits. Come on, let's see some more pics of your vast bounty.

LOL! Yea, you got them counted right! Also: a 1/48 B-58, 3 1/32 F-4's, 2 1/32 F-16's, 2 1/48 He-111's, 2 1/72 B-47's, a 1/72 Nimrod and Tu-26, 1/32 Tornado, 1/32 A-7, 1/24 Huey...........and there's more! I do have some smaller 1/72 stuff.....but I usually just send those to Bish!

Vast bounty?! I know most of you guys have more than that! I've heard of stash's int he 1000's! Now THAT would be cool! Of course I sit here and wonder.....exactly WHERE am I going to put these?!
I'll shot some pics and post tonight of the stash. There are about 4 areas I need to take a pic of to get them all. I'll post them in a bit.

Battleship Cove is in Fall River Massachusetts. It's the worlds largest static display of Naval vessels that you can visit. It's just so amazing how anything was built during WW2 with paper and a slide rule.

There are 2 PT Boats, USS John F Kennedy Destroyer, USS Lionfish WW2 Sub, a Russian Corvette and the USS Massachusetts BB-59 Battleship. What a great display of the WW2 Navy. It is a self guided tour and you can go just about everywhere on the ships.
Awesome! Is it one price for all the ships or pay at each one? I've gone to see the North Carolina, Alabama, and Texas battleships, and saw the Yorktown carrier. So there are a couple there I have never been on! PT's, Destroyer and Russian stuff!
Thanks Jamie, sounds like a must see site. You guys have some amazing stuff over there. We have ships you can visit dotted around the country, but nothing like that, and certainly not a battleship or an Aircraft carrier.
It is one price for the whole visit. I think it's $25 but I got in for free because I'm in the military. You can't walk around on the PT Boats because they are made out of Mahogany which I never knew. It is still a great visit!!
It is very cool to be able to see and walk on such massive warships. You guys have some great things to visit over there as well. I would love to visit Normandy and other places as such. I will post some more pics. They cut out a piece of steel from the hull where it to a round in Casablanca. It is crazy how a 2" piece of steel can melt when hit buy a projectile.

Actually, yes it will, Js. Although BB-55 was wearing a different Measure 32/18d scheme for the time frame I'm building her, it does show what I wanted to know.
The paint often changes abruptly amidship, and is frequently not wrapping around.

Jamie: I want to thank you very much for sharing your pics. I definitely brings back some wonderful memories for me. I remember how thrilled I was to get to tour such a huge ship. It was great trip as we also went on to visit the USS Constitution.

Hope to have some pics up on my 1/350 DML Buchanan that I think will serve as Hobson for duty at Normandy.
I've seen a lot of ships and it's always struck me how small BBs look when you're on deck and how big the carriers are. I saw Missouri just before it was decommissioned - you look at photos of the surrender and it looks like a football stadium. That's the wide angle lens - MacArthur's podium and the surrender table is actually pretty cramped. Now, tour a modern fleet carrier and you can see why people talk about floating cities. DDs and subs are really cramped - although our guys had it better than U-boat crews. The inside of the U-505 in Chicago looks like a closet. Pompanito in SF Bay dwarfs it - although it's in water and you can actually hear the creaking and water noise a little. One duty not for me. Never seen a PT Boat though - that would be worth a trip.
Anyone visiting San Francisco should track down the USS San Francisco memorial at Land's End. Very few people know it's there, although you get a fabulous view of the Golden Gate. It consists of the ship's flag pole and a good part of the conning tower covered with shell holes. It's very clear that the shells were coming from two directions. Sobering.

A model boat is much cheaper than a real one and won't sink with you in it.

Jamie, I know Mine sweepers were made of wood, but didn't realise PT boats were. I can see why they want to keep people off.

Here is the work thus far. Installed all the glass in the front of the aircraft. Started to work on the landing gear next. I can start to see the finish line now.
