blue is on and tape is removed. Have some bleed through to touch up but overall happy with the results. Going to paint the canopy a clear green and have parts to paint an exhaust colour and some grey in areas.
That Phaser is really coming along. Didn't know about the two joining together, I always thought that they were separate weapons.
Loving the X-wing. I can't wait till it is all lit up.
Wow, that masking job is crazy!
Nice job.
I tried posting a while back...but I don't think it posted. Is it too late to join? I'd like to build my 1/48 scale Fine Molds X-Wing.
This would my my first sci-fi build. By the way, that Cylon Raider looks damned impressive!
Yeah, very impressive job there with the masking Shiv, not something I'm all that good at.
BH: I think there's always room for another X-Wing!

I've collected, built all the accessory's
I turned the emitter tip from a section of an old blind rod in my drill press.
The knob on the back is from a Rubies phaser,
I have 2 power cover lenses, one clear resin, one wood. I'm not sure which I'll
use.
The thumb wheel section is fan a made resin part I had in my parts box.
Mach71: Set phasors to AWESOME!!!
you're in. i had you listed in the roster and will add the pic. between regionals and not feeling well i haven't been posting as much so thanks to all who are. some nice looking stuff here.

Mach - Phaser: looking great. Thanks for the 'not much of a Star Trek fan' info...not really true, I am a fan, just, not super geeky into it like I am with SW.
Shiv - that little ship masked out great, eh? Lovin' that one.
Welcome aboard Beckyhead, X-Wings always great IMO.

On the Bench: Nothing on the go ATM
Rob, Thanks. My wife would say I'm a little too Star Trek geeky. And she would be correct!
I managed a few minutes on the phaser today.
I'm starting the detail work.
The phaser-1 is mostly done, as is the handle. I used bare metal foil for the rectangle on top
of the P-1 and for the circle on the side. The side circle is what was used on the stunt phaser,
phasers used for close ups had a knob there.
Mach, as one Star Trek geek to another, I must say that I am really impressed with your phaser.

Yeah Mach71, as a recovering Trek fan I love how she's coming out.
Thanks!
I hope to get this wrapped up this week. Just some detail painting and a few parts to glue together. I'm learning a lot from this build.
I'm going to declare this done!
As a comparison here is my midgrade phaser I built a few years ago next to the Stunt one I just finished.
Much of the detail that is on the midrade is just painted on the stunt. It was used just in the background shots
Nice work mach71
Looks like I need to get my finger out and get mine finished so I'm not last

Mach71: Wow, looks great, you could convince me that it's a professional prop!
BTW: Never really noticed the 'stunt' phasors- wonder if they'd show up in more detail in the HD re-releases? I'd seen some comments of in jokes and silly stuff that normally wouldn't be seen popping up in the HD versions of TNG.
Thanks Gamera!
I appreciate all the kind words from everyone. This is my first group build and it's been
a very nice experience.
I have the TOS bluray set, I don't notice too many jokes/goofs but the detail on the sets/costumes/props
are really impressive. The stunt phasers are much easier spot!
Mach...super wicked awesome Phaser!! (Yes..I just said super wicked awesome in the same sentence LOL)
Your post was Wicked pissah!
Here's where I'm at with the X-Wing. I applied Micro Krystal Clear in the spaces in the engine caps:
Then, after those dried, I attached them to the engine bodies and wow...the fit was just terrible! So I made little worms out of Aves Apoxie Sculpt and wrapped them around the caps: Then I sanded them smooth: More to come!

Thats a nice putty/sanding job!
Looking great so far.
Thanks Mach!
Here's another quickie update. I've added a little bit of detail to an otherwise sterile cockpit. It is loosely based on reference pics of X-Wings from the movies, although the cockpit is a little bit different in all 3 films. Its a combination of guitar strings, styrene bits and some scribing (which isn't very great) on the IP coaming.
I'm not really going for accuracy (there isn't such a thing since every movie is different). I'm just trying to make the cockpit look a little busier. I may add a little bit more later.
Fly-n-hi, that cockpit is looking great. The guitar strings really add a nice look.
Will you be doing the targeting computer?
Thanks again, Mach! I didn't even think of the targeting computer! I don't know. I'm really focusing on the outside of the ship. This is sort of a practice kit for me before I build my nice 1/48 Fine Molds X-Wing. I'm going to try a bunch of weathering techniques that I haven't used before. And frankly, this kit is kinda a POS.
This kit may be a ceiling hanger, too (I'm running out of space on my shelves).
Having said all of that I don't think I want to invest too much time in the cockpit. I'm still unsure whether or not I'll put the pilot in it.
The kit might be a POS, but I'm enjoying your build.
FnH: For a POS kit you're doing a magnificent job on her! Those putty rings you made for the engines after sanding down look like kit parts!
the X-wing is coming along. Like the fix on the engines with the putty.
I have the base colours done for my Alpha fighter. Now just have the detail to do
I know there are a few members building some Finemolds Star Wars kits.
Is anyone at the stage where they could show some photos? I've never seen a
FineMolds kit and would love to here how they go together.
I've done some of FMs aircraft and armour and pretty happy with them. Not to the quality of a Hasegawa or Tamiya kit but a lot better than MPC etc!

ditto on the rings. saw a demo of that stuff and am going to have to get some.
thanks to everyone keeping this going as i work my way through post regional build slump. unfortunately my lighting guy isn't going to be at the wed meeting so i may defer the AHK and start the HKT since i can do all the track stuff. of course i'm only 6 GBs behind so...
