On the Bench: Nothing on the go ATM
Gonna be delayed in kicking of the Crusader build due to parts coming in from the UK. Cockpit parts, so, I really can't get started.
Brandon K the latest wip looks great! I really like the blue planes! Corsair and HellCat are two. Of my favotites. I used to know an old WWII Navy pilot who flew an F6, he used to tell me his stories time after time, probably having forgot that he told me that story already, but I didn't mind, I could sit and listen too them over and over. He's gone now, and what I wouldn't give to hear the story about that all green Zeke that gave him his 5th and final kill, just one more time.
Again, shes looking great!

Wow great builds going on here. That corsair is a beautiful!
The M-60 is done! I haven't built an armor subject in a while, and I must say this was fun! I still have to finish the base, becaause armor just doesnt look good alone! I also have some Preiser figures to add, so more to come.
All of the pics I saw showed the muzzle of the main gun covered with some type of material to prevent sand intrusion so I added that with some tissue paper. I also added it to the commanders gun turret as this was covered as well. The Orange ID panel is tissue paper as well.

I love how busy that tank looks with all the gear!! Very cool and well done...
Brandon, that is one gorgeous corsair
STFD...it looks great, definitely cant tell its a small scale. Is there any way you have or can get an overall shot that I can put on the front page?

Sorry that I haven't updated in a while, folks. My modeling room has been turned into a temporary holding area for the stuff from our master bedroom while it is being painted and new bedroom furniture is installed. Hoping to get some work done on the CH-53E this coming weekend.

On The Bench: Tamiya 1/32nd Mitsubishi A6M5 Model 52 Zeke For Japanese Group Build
Build one at a time? Hah! That'll be the day!!
right on DD, lookin' forward to it.
Josiah, I have started my 1/72 Revell(G) AH-1W Super Cobra for this GB (not on roster). ALSO, I just received my PE parts for my Crusader today, so, that will start shortly after that helo is done.
A bit of a start on the Cobra's pit. VERY basic (and a bit of a dreadful kit ) repack of a really old mold. Of course, didn't know!! Anyway, it's doable, I think and it sports a rather cool 3 colour cam scheme. The canopy is a very solid and thick plastic, so, doing anything AM in this pit would be a waste of money, thus totally OOB on this one.
Just going to add harnesses made from bare metal foil soon.
Alright! I am calling this one DONE!!! Finally got the base to do what I wanted!
Fantastic job Travis. Looks great...well done!!
I made some good progress today on the Cobra. I got the fuselage closed up around the pit, gun, sighting system, exhausts and the small greeblies. Also, the canopy on and masked, ready for paint tomorrow.
Some very minor fill around the canopy base and sides.
STFD637 Alright! I am calling this one DONE!!! Finally got the base to do what I wanted!
Got the 3 colours on the Cobra and the clear coat...gonna let that settle down then hit it with decals. Very few, so, that won't take long.
And, decals:
Last bit of today: dull coated entire helo, painted and installed rotors, landing skids. Started on pylon weapons and will get at them tomorrow.
Rob,
Sweet Cobra man! Love the camo job. It can square off with the Hind.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks Steve..nice satisfying quick build.
Speaking of quick, she's done:
It was a fun build. Not a great kit. Old mold with raised panel lines and somewhat poor fit of the fuselage. A bit of filler and some persuasion and it came together. I realize the colours are not accurate, but, I did my best to match the box art and the colour call outs from the instructions. One of the disappointments was there NO decals for the missiles. I didn't have anything either in my stash, so, the missiles are just bland OD green.
I added the 'Sharpshooter' badge by overlapping the two!!
Moving on to the Crusader. Thanks!
Beautiful! I like it!!!
Sweet work on the Ah-1 Rob. I like it a lot. Wish I had time to start on my AH-1Z but too many kits in its way at the moment.
Thanks Brandon...my list of kits is getting long too!
Rob, I'm amazed at how fast you can turn out such good looking models. Well done.
Craig
Thanks Craig, I spend the same hours as many, but, I just have WAY more time than most as I currently live and work away from my family...just marathon build daily and on weekends!!
Sacrificial bovine that went by fast! And no less quality either!
So I have been busy with work, family, and school. I have my hornet on her wheels and paint on. I will have pictures this weekend. I am ordering Kitty Hawk 1:48 scale F-35B STOVAL and would like to add it to the group build if that is ok.
Finally getting the backlog of builds completed and out of the way. I am calling this one done. It came out pretty nice. I didn't weather it up quite to the extent of the bird it portrays, mostly because the dark color tends to hide much of what I did. You can pick up the panel line shading, done with pastels, with the naked eye but it is difficult to see it in the photos.
I really enjoy the dynamic prop on this one. The friend I am building this for wanted it displayed with the engine running like in the photo we have. So, I gave this a shot. It is photo etch and very very delicate. One little mishandling and the prop will be deformed and look poorly. I felt like I was a snow flake the whole time I worked on it. Now before everyone jumps me for the 4 blade design rather than the correct 3 blade let me explain that it what you get on the Corsair prop. I didn't see a 3 blade for an F4U, but perhaps I missed it. Anyway, it looks great to me and it does look best when the light come from behind the prop. When it shines on the front it looks metallic. I will use more of these for birds I hang in flight, I really like the look.
Anyway, enjoy the pics fellas.
Well, Brandon, great build. I have to admit I've NEVER seen a prop like that. Can you post a website that features them? Very unusual and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it...but, cool all the same! VERY well done....
Honestly, these props look much better in person than in the photos. I really like them but I need to get the painting down so they are more convincing. This one was my first.
Here is the link to their website, you can buy these are Spruebros.
