Josiah,

I'm changing my subject matter.  Kit will be Hasegawa's 1/72 A-4E in VMA-211 markings.

So hear she is.  Sorry it took so long I have been a little busy.  For not having done a kit for close to 6 months prior to this one I am happy with the build.  A couple of notes, for the load I used Eduard's, GBU, and Mavericks kits, which have exceptional detail, however they are a bit challenging when it come to separating them from the excess mold plastic.  Thanks for letting me be a part of the build.  I have just ordered the 1:48 scale Kitty Hawk AH-1Z Viper which is getting allot of great reviews.  Depending on time and approval I may add this to the group build.

Great looking bird there Jarhead! And being a former Batman I like the decals you selected too.

I must really get things wrapped up on my A-6 for the build here (242 markings of course) but have taken a break to start on the Trumpeter A-4M kit which I will post some progress pics of that one shortly.

Going to call this one finish. Just have 1 or 2 touch up's to add to her. This was sort of practice for the Trumpeter A-6A by testing the new airbrush on this kit. WHAT THE??? What happen to Preview post?

No AM parts used here, I did have to break into another A-6 kit to grab some more MK-82's. Can that new F-35 carry a load like the Intruder?

I used Caracal Models decal sheet CD48033. Which were excellent! Laid down with no issues and the sheet depicted 7 different A-6's. Bat 12 was the only Marine bird, the others were various Navy squadrons. Including VA-42 which I have worked on some of their birds while going through AME Framp at NAS Oceana as a SSgt.

Bat 12 was crewed by Lt.Col Lew Abrams and 1stLt Bob Holdman and they were lost on Nov 25 1967 near Haiphong Viet Nam, and the crash site and their remains were not recovered until 1993.

I did added hand grips to the L/H and R/H side of the fwd canopy frame.

Also added a little detail to the main canopy interior center frame, including the cockpit light. I coulld have sworn those details were in the Monogram kit when first released

On this bird, the lower boarding ladder was painted white and not red as usually seen on Intruders.

Slipped a NATOPS manual inside the fwd windshield.

Picked up a couple of coffee mugs from my S-4 before retiring, at that time we were transitioning over to the F-18D's.

Have also started on the Trumpeter 1/32 A-4M but might not be completed by the deadline.

Enjoyed the GB and seeing all the great looking Marine kits here. Happy Modeling to all.....Ooorah!

Great builds guys...Archangel, I'm going to extend this GB, no new participants but if you need time to finish your build that's fine. I have not been to the bench in quite some time but I'll finish my build eventually.

Just wondering if we are still going.  I have started the Kitty Hawk AH-1Z, and I though I would add it to the build.

Good to see you're back Josiah, and a graduate; congratulations!

I'm curious about your thoughts on extending the GB. I was about to declare my build and had a few subassemblies begun in June, but got run over by a remodeling project. Would just being in the roster make one eligible, or are you intending that only "officially" started models can participate? Also, are you going to establish a new deadline, or let things run until the last horse is in the barn?

When I went back to page one, I noticed a lot of folks on the roster who, like me, missed the September cutoff, so this question is for general info. There are some good builds in here, and it's been fun to at least follow along!

Best regards;

Mike, you're good to go for this. I reckon the new deadline will be 10 November 2016 for anybody that has expressed interest up to this point. I'll go through the last several pages and update roster and builds within the next week or so.

Congratulations on the win! It was certainly deserving! Any chance you some pictures after the added weathering?

Well heck, since the build has been extended I'll drag the A-4 back out. Should get started on it again after I finish my Battle of Britain, and Star Wars group builds. Just saw on Facebook that a new 1/72 decal sheet of OA-4M's is coming out. It has a bird from VMA-211 on it.

Here's the start image of my build. This will be OOB with maybe a little scratch building for details. The Eduard interior PE looks pretty fussy for the potential benefit, so I think I'll just strive for clean, no-hassle result.

Josiah, Thanks for the extension & Happy New Year!

This is my first picture posting since.........well, it's been a long time. Life and my job got in the way of me finishing any of my models. But, things are slowing down a bit, so I'm attempting to get eveything that's in-progress on the bench finished before I start anything else.

Got the CH-53E back out, and have sanded all of the imperfections away, which, in turn, took away some of the panel lines. I'm in the process of rescribing those now. Below are some pictures of the all main assemblies, but no rescribing done yet..........

Have I mentioned how big this kit is? It's HUGE!!! And it's only 1/48th scale. Looking forward to getting this one finished. It's been on the bench for over a year now. Way too long. I gotta get some motivation. And thanks again, Josiah, for extending this group build. Very much appreciated!

Hope to have more pictures soon.

Can't wait to see your build progress Mike, I see those things fly low over my house about once a week it seems like. Gary, glad you got that thing back on the bench. Looks good so far, I never have been able to get the hang of describing, every time I try it my hands slips and scratches everywhere.
