Yep, Woody, that's where I bought my F-100. I think I got it with the 40%-off coupon. So, maybe around $10 with the coupon, minus tax. Thanks for the compliments on mine. I've built a couple of these for my dad, who was a crew chief on them back in the late '50s - early '60s. Finally doing one for me. They're a good build, and even if you load them up with aftermarket stuff, still don't cost a heckuva lot.

I finished painting the SEA camo on the Phantom.  I'm pretty pleased with the results, despite some airbrush problems and some touch-ups here and there.  Now on to the wheel wells...

Silent Bob- Incredible job on the SEA camo job; really well executed; very envious on this end of the results.  What paints did you use??

Devil Dawg- I got a few F-100s in my stash as well; like the trick with the wheel well reinforcement.  I will have to borrow that idea when I get to my builds.

Look forward to seeing your builds progress.......

Thanks Dave!  For the greens I used Model Master medium green and dark green enamels, and the tan is Model Master dark tan acrylic.  I sprayed with varying pressures to get a sort of weathered, uneven appearance that I saw of different F-4s that were in and around Vietnam, and to keep sharper edges around the different colors to limit overspray.

OK Stik, I have the F-84F completed. It is in the markings of the Royal Netherlands Air Force. This one was a struggle, all self inflicted. At first I used the wrong Dark Ocean gray, then I placed the Netherland insignia wrong. The insignia should have the white at the bottom. I am short of time right now I will add more in progress photos.

All right gentlemen, here is some of the pain put myself through for the F-84. Humbrol actually makes two different Extra Dark Ocean gray, one is with a definite green hue to it. The other is the gray tone. Of course I used the green one before I really checked my information on the colors. Once I realized that I had used the wrong color it was back to bench Here is the finished product. I think that this kit is really underappreciated. It finishes up quite nicely. A poor photo fo the cockpit. I really need a better camera.

MK, that's a really cool build! I think that kit has been in my stash since '85. Love the choice of markings too!

First, let me say that I have been Browsing this group build and enjoyed seeing all your work very much. I especially liked the F6F and F-84F.

What exactly is the status of this GB?   I got the impression that this GB has no end date and once can still join? If so, I might be interested in signing up. Happy Modeling & Merry Christmas. Chris

Yes Chris, you are welcome to join, there is no end date at this time. You get 6 months to complete two kits form the date you start the first build.

Great, I'll look through my stash and be back. Maybe I'll do a pair of Thunderbolts... or a P-38..... or if I am feeling especially nutty... I'll try to get a F-14 done in 6 months!

Got some progress done on the 106 today, got the remainder of putty and stretched sprue put on to fill the gaps...thursday night/ friday I should be able to do some sanding depending on the mood I'm in.

It might be warm enough for me to airbrush though which would be good, the Mig-21 is waiting for another layer of its camo.

So nothing picture worthy, but I'm making baby steps ;)

Aw, nuts, I hate to hear putty/sprue mentioned as fillers....I passed on building mine for the Airfix Buccaneer that's on the deck now; another putty bomb....

Why is that?

My apologies to everyone.  I thought I had been posting pics, but have not!  Too many life things going on right now and I can't remember my name half the time.  Anyway, you see evidence of my insanity with the paint scheme I did.  First, some progress pics.

Now for the insanity.....with the medical issues in the family, my brain is not functioning at 100% and I grossly miss read some paint colors.  I was going for a desert (Afghan) type scheme I had seen somewhere.  Don't think I got close. Embarrassed  So....it turned into a "what if" type scheme.  I know, and I am ashamed.  My apologies to everyone.

Thank you!  Imaginative is a nice way to put it.  I knew after the first coat it was going awry, but like I said, medical things going on right now, I'm lucky if I remember my name.  Embarrassed  Bish sent me some pics of wild camo schemes from other countries on the -21.  So I guess I'm not too far off.  I was going to post that if anyone could find a pic of THAT scheme, I'd give them a model!  Wink

Thanks again for the kind words and I just hope the Dom will except it when finished so I can finally get my badge of honor!

Thank you sir!  It does kinda grow on you after a bit.  Still think I should post a mini-contest for a pic of a real one with the closest to my scheme!  Do you have a pic of your -21?

Here's the latest picture I have on my photo bucket...I guess I didn't take any pictures of the paint yet,,,last update was on page 23 I believe....oops. All I have between me and paint time are finals and this darn cold wet weather...good for hunting, but not so much for airbrushing.

I'll try to take some pictures of where it currently stands soon

Hey, now those colors darn near match perfectly!  Nice work!  Love the scheme!  Those rocket pods would be perfect, but all that come with the kit are 2 AA missiles and a centerline fuel tank.  The pic itself rocks!  Thanks!
