I haven't gotten to that point yet. I'll probably apply the black tonight. I think I'm going to spray the gloss acrylic, like I did on the 104 (which I haven't unveiled yet).

The Hun has so many raised details I'll have to be cautious about going back over it with 12000 or anything else.

What issues you having with the black on the Sabre?

I usually shoot on thinned black enamel and pollish with 12000 micromech for a super smooth alclad base.

Yeah, they sure are pretty, but you have to work for it.

Trey, thanks for that info, that would certainly explain the confusion. So the lesson is try and get a good reference of the actual aircraft you are doing. And it clearly shows that in that photo with the difference in the demarcation line on white 1 and white 5. I have built white 5 when I did the 72nd Mistel 5.

Matt, always great to se the paint going on, looking good.

Pj the office is looking sharp!

Matt-J thats looking nicely detailed, like the add ons !

Bish thanks heres a actual shot of 'White 1' courtesy of a friend on another site

His info has 5 different schemes on captured aircraft ,there was however a 'official' scheme but apparently it was'nt adhered to much in the closing stages so there are variations.

I scrapped my first revell 1/48 me262 months ago and i had an extra engine to open up. The revell kits only come with one engine you can open up and show off. I put both engines on mine since I had one from each kit and opened both of them up so its one-of-a-kind I guess, I just hope the quality lives up to it.

Wings together, and ready for putty and paint, The gun bay looks ok

Looking good with the green on TREY.

What I get confused with is the two colour scheme. I am never sure which wing is meant to be which colour and same goes for the engine, or if it varied. I had thought all 162's had the two colours, but it may well be some only had one.

Its nice to see that one restored.

Maybe the same airplane Matt, but apparently not the same kit, unless you scratched the gun bay and engine at 1/72 scale.

Mine was pretty bare.

Looks good buddy.

I chose the "open" option on the Jumo 004 engines with use of my handy Dremel. The detail is suprisingly nice.

O man, who would have guessed modelcrazy and myself were making the same airplane?!

I know it's all for fun and such but I am quite familiar with his quality LOL!
Fuselage halves and drilled holes for the rocket hard points...

The 30mm gun bay turned out alright.

Trey

Yes, great pictures and an excellent reference source. Got it saved in my favorites so thanks for posting as I have both the Revell 1/32 and Dragon 1/48 models of the Salamander.

I finished the office and before sealing the forward halves, I added a small lead sinker to the nose to keep it from being a tail sitter. There is still another pe part that is to be attached to top of the dash where that square looking molded part is at..

Great looking build, she is looking mighty fine. That is one very interesting link and one heck of a restoration.

Interesting thing about the name penciled in the gear bay ending in ski. I have an early 1936 NCO Army Artillery peaked hat with a name of Borowitska or Borowitski barely legible under the clear plastic diamond. Doesn't sound like the usual German names.

Thanks Bish!  The scheme of the top is confusing at best. There is a well documented restore that has different lines and multiple colors on top. It was stripped after many repaints and some of the original colors were still preserved under the layers heres a link

http://memorial.flight.free.fr/He162uk.html

I went with a straight RLM71 and post shaded it with some very thinned RLM02 mixed with the 71 just to break it up. I'm hoping after a wash , filter & clear coat session it will darken up a bit,if not I'll just hit it with some pastels. While this copies the scheme in the instructions for 'White 1" its probably not very authentic, its fine for my shelf so I'm rolling with it

That one would be fun, and it's just the right size for a car and small field.

Adj and PJ,

I have over 50 RC plans on PDF and hard copy of WW1, WW2, Civil, and DF (Ducted Fan) / Turbine, various wing spans and engine sizes.

My next attempt is going to be either the Sopwith Camel, Newport, Spad, Heinkel 51 or Curtiss Jenny, I'm so confused, I just can't decide. Confused I just love two wings on RC planes, IE my last pics.   Stick out tongue

PJ, if you want one I can shoot ya, just let me know and I'll see if I have in my files.

You would have freaked out at my scratch built 80" wingspan Fokker D.VIII that I had. Unfortunately I sold it 7 years ago when we moved out of state and I was downsizing. I also sold a 6 ft RC Elco PT Boat I was working on.

LOL, the look of a busy and active workshop. That Fokker reminds me of the old Dynaflite .40 Fokker a crazy flier. Great looking bunch or RC planes.

TREY, thanks. These FSM GB's have been rely nice to be a part of. The first two were a nice chance to do things I have not touched before and as always, the guys were full of advice and ideas. Though for the 3rd one currently running its nice to be on familiar ground.

Liking the 162. I am really looking forward to seeing the top colours on, that confuses me a bit.
