For gaps l, stretch some sprue to the appropriate size, I dip it in tenax which melts it to the two sides so it looks like a weld seam. Since its plastic, when you sand it down it won't look like putty. I have never been able to sand putty on a significant seam to where it's unnoticeable.

Nice!  Startin' to look like an airplane.  I've never used stretched sprue for filling.  How does that work?

Got some updates...used stretched sprue to fill that wing gap

Then got everything sanded, almost ready for paint...

Looks good Craig! And I tend to work on several sub-assemblies at the same time too- not sure if it's a good idea or I'm diverting my attention several ways.

I found a few minutes to shoot some of the black parts this evening.  I placed the engine in the cowl to see how it looks.  I guess I should get back to the cockpit, and quit foolin' around with  assemblies several  steps ahead.

Well after a two year old tornado and my big thumbs, I finally got the plane done. I tore some of the decals due to the fact that I was not used to the thinness of the Tamiya decals. Oh well got thur it anyways. The base will be done soon so Gamera I will get a finished photo then.

I went ahead and shot the blue. Just about done with the Zero. Oh my wife found the figure. Now just to get it back together.

Nomad Doug: Ouch that sucks about the missing parts! The navigation lights you might be able to replace with a blob of Micro Krystal Kleer dropped in there.

Aotake started out very blue and turned more green as it aged- straight blue works fine on a new aircraft.

Doug - I just shot the metallic blue.  Sad thing is I have the clear green.  I didn't want to mix an acrylic and an enamel.  I can live with the blue.

I just shot the metallic blue also. I had a disaster last night. My two year old grand-daughter got a hold of my figures and lost one of them. It was the one that had the only Samaria sword as I lost the other sword. I was gone with my cousin when this happened. My wife said they looked the house over and all they found was the head and part of the sword.

Also the nav lights, very small clear parts are gone. All Three of them. Now I will have to wait till I can get the money to order the whole tree for the figures and the clear tree for the nav lights. Oh well what can I say. She's only two. She is worth more than any model I have or will ever buy.

Bummer about the figure and lights, but kids will kids.  I've lost several tiny PE parts in the carpet.  Every now and then I find them sticking in my foot.   Guess I should wear shoes more often.

Best plastic are the blisters from high tech products, like ram PC memories . dunno about correct scale but these package have better moulding properties

Looks good Nomad Doug! Normally I'd paint the rear canopy deck and then mask it  and paint the rest of the plane rather than doing it afterward- do you find it easier to do it this way? I'm always trying to learn a faster easier way to do stuff like this.

Okay now for my Tamiya Zero. Here are some updates on the build.

I got the priming done and the paint on. It is Gray Green (IJN) color. Masked the cockpit and got the Semi Gloss Black on and have the canopy done. There are some smaller parts that need primed and that will be today. Then on to the rest of the build.

Nice work so far Terry and bsyamato.

Finally!  I got my paints in.  Almost 5 weeks.  I'll never order paint from overseas just to save a buck if I can get it at a LHS.  Another lesson learned.  By the way, when did Tamiya change their bottle design.  It's 10 ml like the round bottles.  I like it.  Anyways, I can get really movin' on my Zero since my 107 is almost done.

Hey Gamera can I roll my zero over from the japanese 3 gb? It's more than 20% completed but I had started it before that one ended.

I'd think those thinner canopies you made probably work better for sliding over each other too Bsyamato.
