Seabe: Looking forward to your update and your picture posting. Hope you get it all sorted out. I bought into PB a few years ago when I ran out of space on one of their lower priced plans so I guess I'm ok for the time being.

Lostagain: Progress on that car body and the details are looking great!!! I can't wait to see what the body is going to look like when you've got it all cleaned up.

Everybody: Ok folks. I believe that the 396 is done enough to where I'm going to put it in the chassis and get started on the exhaust system. I temporarily installed the center section of the fan on the front of the front just for picture taking purposes and will remove it so I can use it on the backside of the other fan I have for a future build. N E ways..............here she is:

And this one I throw in for all my friends at work. They always tell me that I have a giant clothespin hanging out in my garage. :giggles:

That engin keeps getting better, Mustang!

LostAgain, that is a nice little kit - did it a while ago.
BTW, looks like you're using google storage - I tried that a while ago and then they changed something that made it near impossible to obtain the URL to do the linking. It seems it is usable now again - or am I just missing a trick?!

Thanks Lost... Yeah,I was using some odorless paint thinner and it was old, and I don't like the garbage to begin with. I clear coated the gold base coat and let it harden to the point where it could be handled. I'm posting some more pictures here in a bit, but I'm telling ya, I'm not at all happy with the way its coming out. And that has kind of taken the wind out of my sails.

Man those tiny bubbles in the paint are the pits. Was it really humid or raining the day you painted? Humidity and rain will do some funny things to paint. But atleast your able to get them out...

Any way, Heres a bit more from my mess...

This is the first coat of the jade green transparent top coat... The "Name" was printed on the computer, cut out with exacto knife and used like a stencil. Its still got a way to go yet...

2nd and 3rd coat of the green.

Well, thats about it for now, I'll  give this a few days to set up. Gotta tell ya, I'm going to finish it up, but I'm really not feeling it for this one any more. Its kinda been a let down, but hey... I'm trying, and getting back into cars ain't easy ... lol...

Take care all!

Doug

Hi Doug,

Sorry to hear you're not loving your build. Is it the body finish, the car generally or something else? The engine is amazing and a bit scary. If it is the finish, would you contemplate stripping and start again? I can understand 'just get through it and on to the next one', think we've all had a few of those....

Seabe,

To get google pics to work, I have to open up a photo then click on 'Copy image location', then paste that into the insert/edit image box here in FSM.

Took back the surface with 2400 and 4000 grit, then resprayed. Not raining at the time of the first coat, but we have had a bit of rain recently. New coat was much better.

Then onto decals. First the main body shell, then line up the number background circles on the lower sides.

With that done the numbers were added and a now it is all set aside to dry before clearcoating the body panels. Took many many applications of Mr Mark Softer to get the decals to conform.

Motor is coming along ok, but not as serious as yours Joe! You can see the vallejo metallics a bit here.

Small progress on the Nissan, but as said previously I'm not overly motivated. Now here's me trying the google solution...

Whoo, that seems to have worked!

So here's the engin of the 312T3, as well as the bulkhead. Have mercy, it was my first effort at doing foil. Much more to come for this kit.

On leave this week - so no progress will be at the order of the day! Much needed R&R!

Will be getting to my computer tonight to take a look at your pictures there lost and Seabe. Can't seem to see them here at work.

Doug: Dude............hang in there brutha. To me, this is the hardest part of auto modeling. Like I've mentioned earlier, I've had to toss entire bodies in the brake fluid before. Your paint looks good to me and alot of "boo boo's" can be wet sanded out and polished. Good to have you in here to see you work your magic bud. Looking forward to more.

Hi all!

I'm enjoying the builds going on. You guys are doing some amazing work.

I was able to get out in the shop today and sanded the body on the 53 Ford and sprayed the Road Runner. The Road Runner is Ivy Green and the 53 Ford is Flamingo Red and Bone Ivory. I plan on adding a vinyl roof to the road runner. I ordered two just in case LOL.

Thanks.

Eric

Pawel, Thanks... its coming along but not like I had planned.

Ewheeler... Nice! Didn't know you could buy vinal tops. The ole Ford is gonna look good too! Looking forward to seeing both completed.

Take care all!

Thanks Doug,

I found these kits online. They come with enough stuff to do 3 cars maybe? I installed it on the Road Runner today. It looks pretty good for the first time using it. The texture loks just about right for the vinyl also.

Mustang,

Thanks. I finaly figured how to thin the paint LOL.

Here's a shot of the vinyl roof installed. One thing I wish I would done was not paint the roof as the green shows through a little. I'm going to mask off the rest of the car and spray the roof with flat white and then hit it with some matte clear to fix it. Next time I know to leave it white. I also still have to fabricate the chrome around the sides and the top of the posts.

Thanks.

Finished laying out the gauges for the Road Runner. Then found out the printer is out of black ink. LOL Here's what they will look like.

Thanks,

Eric.

I masked the RR off and painted the flat white on the roof. I like the way it looks so I'm nor going to spray the matte on it. I also put a strip of chrome across the back windoe to see how it's going to look. It just amazes me all the cool stuff they make for us now a days. LOL

I was going to use styrene to make the trim pieces but got to thinking that may be to stiff to work with and decided to shape them with milliput.

Thanks,

Eric

LOL! Sorry Nick. All last year as well as this year I've been contending with my wife's recovery from her brain aneurysm and although she's recovering well it still takes a toll on my time. I do not have a badge for the 2017 year but am going to run a 2018 "Born in the USA" automotive build. There will be (and is) a badge for that! lol.

Doug: You know man that turned out really good. We've all got a learning curve on things so no worries AT ALL on that. You brought some really good ideas to the forefront here with this build such as the flooring. Great idea and I see that being used by myself in future builds like this. I've really enjoyed having you in here and am looking forward to seeing what you have "waiting in the loft" for us next.

Which photo would you like to see up front on the intro Wall of Fame page?

Thanks guys... I learned alot from the multitude of mistakes made on this one. Modeling has come SOOO far since I was a kid, and trying to keep up isn't easy at this point. BUT... Thanks again for the kind words.

Joe... As always, the picture choice is yours, however, I'm kind of partial to the 4th one down,(the second from the bottom) . And, that Camero looks awesome, like something that would have prowled Gratiot Ave, or Woodward Ave. when I was a teen in the late 60s,early 70s growing up in Detroit.

I'm trying to find a picture of my 48 Ford I ran on the street during those days. Wasn't street legal, but that never stopped me... Well, maybe once or twice.lol Any way,,, I have all (I think) the material rounded up for the next. Its going to be another Mustang, this time an AMT 1/25th  67 fastback, but about the only thing I'm using from the kit will be the body and some of the trim pieces. Most everything else will be either scratch built or kit bashed.I'll start in a day or so... Thanks...

Still alive... I think. I have for a variety of reasons not been doing anything on my builds. Current status... I've shelved that Censored Pajero. I have just now taken out a Tameo. Life's too short for crappy kits.

The Tameo is the Toleman of Monaco 84, where Senna stormed to second in the rain before the race was stopped before halfway, at Prosts (then leading) insistence. Half-points awarded ironically propably cost him the title.

Another irony I only realised now... building a Senna and Villeneuve car at the same time.

The T3... I am staring at that wondering how I'll muster up the balls to start with the next step. Well, the next phase of the step I'm in. It requires manually cutting and then sticking a puzzle of 13(!!) bare metal sections. And these things aren't prone to be placed again! Saw that on the first section I did. Once a part grips, it does not let go. So I'm slightly petrified.

I must just sit down and start doing one piece. The rest will follow. Most likely over a couple of days.

Oh, still no closer to solving my image hosting problem.

And hey, it's inter-schools week for my daughter, so pretty much all occupied on that front! (Plus I take sport pics for the school over such weekends... love it!)

OK...

Starting on the Mustang. This is going to have a scratch built tube frame, and about the only thing from the Mustang kit is going to be the body and some of the trim. Everything will be kit bashed or scratch built for the most part... SO... Having said that, and with fingers crossed, Here we go!

This will be the doner kit.

This is the material I think I'll need to build the frame, and I've got it laid out on a board to work on, (I hope) .

I'm sure I will have alot of tweeking and rethinking to do, but for now not bad, most pieces will be cut and filed to fit, others will be heated and bent to shape.

And thats about all for now. OH... Inbetween setting and drying times, paint, putty work and such, I'm building a pickup kit (1992 Ford Flairside) also AMT 1/25 and scratch building a trailer to tow the completed (I hope) Mustang. Probably wont see it till the end being it not the main focus. Take care all... Any one in the path oh "Harvy", Batten down the hatches or just GET THE SOUP OUT OF THE WAY! That means you Joe... and anyone else in the area. Take care all!
